Simply renaming the layers in the asset pkg will never work, there's hooks all over the schema to those core layer names. So, the question then becomes more simply: - how does one implement more than 1 UN asset pkg to a single DB if the process appends to the structure network names? Or are these base UN asset pkgs considered 1 per database?

Trying to implement many UN asset pkgs in a single SQL Server 2016 database and having problems past the first one. I'm deploying from ArcGIS Solutions. UNTools, ArcGIS Pro are all updated today and asset pkgs were run thru 'Upgrade Asset Pkg' tool. When I stage subsequent Utility Networks I notice that the Structure Network layers and Service Territory layer all get appended with _1 So, is it possible that applying the asset pkg fails because the structure network and service territory names now don't match? Which is odd because it makes it pretty far into the install, 10 steps or so. If this is a problem is the resolution as easy as just renaming the structure network and service territory layers in the asset pkg?

Someone from ESRI please?? Utility Network is hailed as being able to combine disparate networks (water distribution versus electrical distribution) under a single network so one can initiate an electric trace and see the water distribution impacts as part of that trace. So, given the asset packages available right now, how does one generate these under a single UN as separate domains?

I've starting deploying the ESRI utility network asset packages in test environment for learning, just wondering how I can deploy these UN packages as individual domain networks under a single UN. Right now I can deploy water, electrical, etc as individual UN's but how to deploy as individual domain networks under a single UN? Thanks

Working thru the Utility Network tutorials and trying to stage the water package, have worked up thru the entire process successfully and I'm now trying to stage the utility network and I'm getting "error 001991: Operation is only supported on the Default version". The database in question (SQL 2016) only has the default version, no other versions exist. dbo is version owner. I am connecting as named user and can make other data successfully outside this process. Any help is appreciated

No, you don't need a second database solely for viewing. You can manage this via user permissions.

Turns out our primary image is a 100% but a couple of the others are not, so assuming those will need the cache rebuilt. But all the images exhibit the problem irregardless of cache completion status. Not sure on the cache type, will have to determine.

We have several generations of aerial photography that have all started acting oddly. When zoom in and pan around in ArcMap the image will occasionally stop rendering, show as blank, continue to pan around and it will render, continue and it will eventually not render, and so on. ArcGIS 10.3.1 Images are all single large images, not mosaics. Cached, pretty much set up with default settings. Just looking for suggestions on where to start in on this.

Personally I suspect this is the problem. ESRI promotes those sorts of long transactions but it's at odds with best database practices of regular full compress, so it's a bit of a catch-22. This is a difficult spot to be in, hundreds of named versions and one has to assume that not all those versions are required or that some were made by users that perhaps didn't have a full understanding of DB administration or even require a named version for their tasks. If this is indeed the problem than there's not a lot of advice to give, if the version tree needs trimming then it will likely involve data loss. Personally, I admin hundreds of users and corporate GIS networks for sewer, water distribution and electrical distribution (among other things) and we only keep a few named versions. We tightly regulate named versions. They have a place in a work process but not all users should be making named versions on a whim, the process should be managed/administered. Just my 2 cents.
