The only way as far as I can see would be to run the Split Raster tool with your polygon grid, then rename each one afterwards with your attribute id. You would have to make sure that these are unique of course. Are these map sheet names / ids or something.

Have you tried using cubic convolution resampling (on the display tab of the layer properties). This does smoothing on the image so you don't see individual pixels.

Vince, the Fields XLong & Ylat would be reserved exclusively for real numbers. If I was storing DMS or some other format of notation, I tend to make it obvious in the attribute name that it is TEXT, like XLongDMSText or something.

Good one Dan... When preparing a table for storing these sort of values, I always call the 2 coordinate fields : XLong, YLat.

I am sorry but I don't believe this explanation. Inserts inside of an edit operation work for me. Just did a test and added 10,000 rows. It could have been 10 million. There is something else going on here.

Just a thought.... "South Pole Stereographic" is a standard projection in the system. When you redefined it to a central meridian of 156, you didn't rename it to "South Pole Stereographic My version" or something. Perhaps ArcPad is looking up the original version somehow and ignoring the change.

I use UDC (Universal Document Converter) to print web pages to pdf. Has been very useful. But of course, I don't think it could walk through an entire help system automatically....

You could just reset your ArcMap mxt (template). Under Win7 this is in Users/Username/AppData/Roaming/ESRI/Desktopv##.#/ArcMap/Templates/.. Delete or rename the ArcMap.mxt. This will be regenerated when you next start ArcMap with a default version.

Freddie, brilliant. As someone said at the time, nothing says Unknown Spatial Reference like.. {B286C06B-0879-11D2-AACA-00C04FA33C20} Perfectly obvious.

Sorry for the long delay, been away at the esri Africa UC... Yes, if you have a pile of Fc's inside a fd, the SR is defined at the fd level. You can only change it by copying out the fc to another fd or using the project tool (and putting the output somewhere else). Not sure what the error is, but instead of redefining each fc did you try to redefine just the sr of the fd?

Sorry Dan, just looked at the code... Yes, where is all that Map_Y.... coming from! Also I see his "extent" is a string, so that wouldn't work either.
