Kathleen Crombez I would look at the comment by Mody Buchbinder on 9/18/17. I am not sure if this is a "defect/bug" but is as designed. As the newer versions of the software are released new functionality is added to the product, in this case mosaic datasets. As the dataset is used with newer clients, it may introduce new functionality that is not available in an older client. This type of behavior has been seen with other functionality over the years. HI Levi Roberts, You are correct, if you add a new feature class to a versioned dataset, the entire dataset needs to versioned again. It will NOT removed any version edits already there. Here is the documentation. This is the box before Step #1. Registering a feature dataset as versioned registers all feature classes within the feature dataset as versioned. However, if you add a new feature class to the feature dataset after you have already registered the feature dataset as versioned, the new feature class is not registered as versioned. This allows you to load data into the new feature class before you version it, which improves data loading performance. Since you cannot register individual feature classes within the feature dataset as versioned, you will need to register the feature dataset as versioned again. Be aware, though, that until you register the new feature class as versioned, you will not be able to edit any of the feature classes in the feature dataset. Just install the SQL Server 64-bit client. It will also install the 32-bit client. I have done this multiple times with no issues connecting with ArcMap, ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Enterprise Server

Since this is a Geodatabase system table I would assume that the value is only relevant to that specific layer. I would also add that if the ArcGIS client showed any "function" in the database it would cause a ton of clutter in the connection properties. It would show all the functions that are added as part of the enterprise geodatabase. The best way to interact with a function is using SQL Server Management Studio or other management platform. I would venture to say that it is not possible with the ArcGIS client at this time. I have not seen anyone access them. I also know that passing SQL functions/binding information via query layers have been know to fail in the past.

Yes, just install the 64-bit client for the Server. I would leave the 32 bit client also. You can have both on your machine (I do for ArcMap/Pro). I understand the concern with changing Python. Install the client and see if the results are different when running the script.
