Good lord, 10 years and no solution. Yet, I can go to the rest page and call the data myself and order the fields there. If you have the functionality already there, I don't see why you can't have an "Order By Field" parameter in the pop up box options??? But at least we can have snow in our 3d scenes. That's what we really need.

I wanted to post a follow up with some of our findings in case others run into similar issues, and also in case an ESRI rep sees this. It might be useful to know that all of this testing was in Chrome. Publishing printing services from ArcPro 3.0 seems to not work, not matter what. We've tested this with services in the map and without services in the map. We've cleared caches, cookies, histories and everything else. No matter what we do, we always get the same error. Error executing tool. Export Web Map : Missing or invalid layout template file. Failed to execute (Export Web Map). Because of this thread, we scaled back to ArcPro 2.9. At this point we started having some inconsistent behavior with our printing services, but only when we had a map layer that required a password. If all the layers in the web app were public, we did not experience any errors. The error always followed the same format. Error executing tool. Export Web Map : Layer "[secure layer name]": Unable to connect to map server at [secure layer url]. Failed to execute (ExportWebMap). Failed to execute (Export Web Map). ESRI support told me that the issue might be with our ArcGIS Server maching using a self signed certificate, which is what ESRI recommends in the first place, but as I've tested it seems certificates have nothing to do with it. I still have not nailed down what triggers the failures to start, but what we've realized is that it has something to do with cookies, at least in Chrome. Most recently I had two printing services in one web app that contained a secured layer, one printing service was created from ArcMap and the other from ArcPro. Once I cleared the cookies they both ran fine. What is odd though is I then published a new printing service to our server, and suddenly our printing services errored out and we received the above error again. I cleared the cookies and that resolved the issue. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Just talked with ESRI support and they seem to think it has to do with the fact that we use a self signed certificate on our ArcGIS Server machine. They recommend adding a domain certificate and a trusted root certificate. Will have to work with our IT to implement.

The printing service was shared to just me, and the map service was shared to a specific group. I tried sharing the printing service with that group to see if that might sneaky work, but to no avail.

Seems like we struggled with printing secured services years ago when we were creating printing services from ArcMap, but I cannot remember how we solved it back then. Hopefully ESRI get's this sorted out soon. Thanks for all your help! You saved the day!

Hey Ben, Thanks for the reply! You solved the inconsistency issue we were having. I scaled back and created one and it seems to be "working". Now we're running into issues with printing from webmaps that have secured services in them. It gives us this error: "Error executing tool. Export Web Map : Failed to create layer from service at https://xxxxxxxx. Failed to execute (Export Web Map)." Did you run into this issue at all?

We are using ArcGIS Enterprise 9.1 and are trying to publish custom printing services from ArcPro 3.0. We have followed very closely to the two resources listed below. And we are experiencing inconsistent results. Share custom layouts for printing from ArcGIS Pro Enabling High-Quality Printing in Web Applications The error we are now consistenly recieving is "Error executing tool. Export Web Map : Missing or invalid layout template file. Failed to execute (Export Web Map)." We have tried a variety of layouts, from including titles and overview maps like in the video, to including nothing but the WEBMAP_MAP_FRAME. It will print the "MAP ONLY" option, but when we try printing any custom layouts it will fail. The default printing service works fine, and the custom services we built in ArcMap are still working, but anything in Pro is failing us.

Hi Caroline, The service was never stopped, it was constantly running. It would just not run properly after awhile and we would have to go into arcgis server manager and restart the service. It sounds like you are having the same issue, and restarting the service should fix the issue. To test you can go into your ArcGIS Server manager, click on the service that is failing and click the "Save & Restart" button.

This is what the call looks like in google developer tools. As you can see it's taking almost 2 seconds for TTFB.

We have a neighboring County that is wanting to stream our some of our data in a Geomoose application. They currently stream from our 10.3.1 Server and it is very fast. But we recently built out a new 101.6.1 Enterprise environment and when they point to that cached service it is substantially slower. The services seem to be identical in the two environments and they both perform the same in ArcGIS Online. Wondering if anyone has seen this?

Thanks Josh. That makes a lot of sense. I had a feeling something like this might be the case as it never seemed to max out the resources. It just seemed to consume as much as possible. With this in mind we will probably just scale back the RAM as the machine is currently at overkill levels. Thanks for the informational response!

Hello, I've noticed that the RAM associated with our SQL Server increases each time a web service referencing data in the SQL Server is queried. When we restart the machine SQL Server starts out only using a couple hundred mb's of RAM. Each query adds about 2-3 mb's to the RAM. Overtime this will cause SQL Server to consume gigs of RAM. This morning it was at 16 gb's of RAM. I have a few questions regarding this. Is this a common issue? What exactly is happening that causes the increase to the RAM? What is the best practice in keeping the RAM down? Or do we just need to restart the machine regularly? Thanks

Hi Jessica, We also disconnect users each night, so that is possible. Our work around was simply to run a restart python script each morning. This has resolved the issue for us.

Right now in the layer list I either have to list all the individual layers or use the grouping when I created the service. We have applications with over 30 layers having them all display makes things confusing. But our grouping needs also change depending on our end user, so I have to create more services if I want to change which layers are grouped. This means I have layers that are being referenced in 3 or 4 different services, which means I have more and more soc files using resources on my server. We need the ability to create groups in the Layer List and then add web services individually to those groupings. This would help us reduce the number of web services we would need to create. In my example below each group is an individual service I had to create in order to group how I wanted. We should be able to create these groups from a variety of sources rather than having to create a new service each time. Also it seems this would make it so we wouldn't have to check multiple boxes in order to turn one layer on. This is a constant source of confusion for members of the public.
