Ok we are finally getting some good field testing with this for a project. Collected about 200 results. In collection I came across a bug/issue. When you mark a survey as a favorite it stores all of that favorite info. The next survey if you populate using the stored favorites it populates everything including photos. If you delete a photo and that favorite has not been communicated it removes the photo from your current survey but it also deletes the photo from that favorite survey as well. When you try to communicate it stalls because it is trying to send a photo on the favorite that no longer exists. If you delete in the new survey it should not delete from your favorite as well. I don't think retaking the photo replaces the favorite photo but I haven't been able to check this. As a side note, it would be great to store a partial survey as a favorite. In collecting I have about 75% of the data as the same but the other 25% is different. I would like to only store the 75% and have the remaining blank

So wondering if anyone has come across this case. We have 2 data sets: one has thousands of locations with fields for status and assigned inspector, then another data set for inspector locations with a field for the max number each can handle. Trying to determine an approach to run a script which will take the first inspector and assign locations to each inspector up to their max. Once the first inspector is assigned their max, the next inspector assigned up to their max until all are assigned. Next time the script is run it will look at the first inspector, check to see how many locations are assigned and open then assign additional as needed, then through each inspector.

I was wondering if this is in the works (or I missed it) If we have say 10,000 inspections that need to get assigned is it possible to export this? Our situation is that we would like to use the assignment tool but the actual inspections get sent to inspectors from an outside program so we would like to handle the assignments then export on a regular basis to proved for use in importing to the other program? I haven't played with the backend data much on this, is a FGDB created on the backside that we could just pull out data like any FGDB?

So I have been working a lot with Survey123 and now I am trying to jump back into Collector. I think both are great an have their place for collecting data and the improvements for the front end collection are going in the right direction. I am curious though how is everyone using this data collected? Its easy enough to use it in a GIS format but for many task you need to roll up reporting on what assets. For basic collection it is easy enough to pull out data in a table and attachments as well but once you start getting into more complex and involved FGDB with related tables doing much outside the AGO/FGDB environment becomes a pain. For those complex situations what are good options for reporting on the data collected in a non map format?

Do you mean modify after collection? Modify in the field or in the office? There are a lot of options, the results are stored as a feature layer which you can manipulate via arcpro (for live data) or arcmap if you want to pull the data off the cloud. If you mean in the field after collection, you could use collector with this same data to be able to access it and update in the field after it is sent.

I am curious if this is possible or I would create issues for myself. We usually get a survey up and running then go out for a few days/weeks on a pilot project collecting data. This is added we want in our final results. Then we make updates as needed to the survey which often mean changing around the schema (adding/removing/renaming). I know we can keep it separate then later deal with combining but I would kinda like it all online together. I was thinking after I pulled my pilot fgdb I would make my needed updates to my survey and republish (which would clear out my old data). I could then export out my new fgdb and populate it in ArcMap with my pilot fgdb data then fill in any needed data for new fields (we often find we need to collect another piece of data which doesn't need an entire new assessment compelted). After I have my fgdb updated in ArcMap I would publish it back to the same location as the new survey feature service thus giving me the survey with the original data on AGO?

Thanks, look forward to the updates. We have a process for pulling out what we need but it involves running scripts and batch renaming of attachments and avoiding related tables at all costs.

Its been a little while since I've been on here, busy with project work but still using Survey123 in that work. I think great strides have been made in the app and functionality. I am curious what, if any, plans are there for the future in additional reporting/export? I like the survey123 website easy extract of csv data. It would be even nicer to have a customizable export tool where we could select specific fields for export (save as a template) and even more so an easy way to export out attachments. Ideal would be a reporting tool that could handle related tables as well. I personally avoid related tables even though I think they make more sense in organizing data only because extracting and trying to reassociate the data is such a pain.

Ok I know the GIS side and I am trying to assist one of our developers who is using the SDK for Android for a mobile app. Most items are fine but I am trying to help him with the offline basemap tile portion. We have the workflow (Create an offline map—ArcGIS Runtime SDK for Android | ArcGIS for Developers ) and are going through the runtime content process (Creating ArcGIS Runtime content—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop ) but running into a neverending issue of tiling out the basemaps as part of the content. Waiting on ESRI for support but figured I would try here. The issue is no matter which basemap we select it says it is not supported, I know there are specific ESRI basemaps for export (we are trying for World Streets for Export) but those give the same 00005 Layer not supported error. Can someone help with this? I know I can create a tile package online but need it as part of the runtime content. As a side note, we would like to clip the basemap area to a county but even if we clip it to a rectangle extend or no clip we always get the error.

Thanks, I have run into the select one issue and didn't think to change the type. There are times I really want a number stored even if the label is a name.

Do you mean allow the user to pick a point on a map other than where the gps auto says they are located? If so yes. It works a little different than collector though. You do not touch a point to collect here, instead you slide the basemap around until the pin point is in the location you want then click the check to save it.

Do you have any easy tips for dealing with exporting attachments? The only real option I see is to download your data to a FGDB then use a python script to pull this data out. I think everyone would love to see some kind of tool for exporting attachments (named appropriately)

I think you make a good point about integrating Survey123 with other tools. It's important to recognize that Survey123 creates an initial feature service in a manner much easier than you would normally (though some items might not be the way you would set them up). You can quickly create your FGDB and a very detailed survey to capture an initial data set. For some this is all you need but for many of my projects it is not one and done. I was actually planning on using Collector as my follow up approach. Survey123 to create my data set then Collector to monitor it with Ops Dash for back office oversight. I am really excited about some of the other tools that are coming out to help with the processing of work to be done.

I know you also posted on github and I responded there but since you posted here too I will also put in my response because this is an important issue. Amen, yes we could use Survey123 (and Collector) for a majority of our data collection needs but it only works in house or if our partners have ESRI AGO accounts with spare licenses. Honestly for us it is not the cost or need for a license it is the issue that the named user needs to have a company email address. This is not practicall as many large companies (like mine) have such strict rules about adding users who are not actual employees. I would be perfectly happy if ESRI allowed more flexibility in the type of users added to an AGO account. We would gladly purchase 50 extra licenses if we could assign them out to anyone. Have 50 set aside for data collection, assign those out for a project (in house or not) and then reassign them for the next project. If you need more on a bigger project just purchase more and be sure to account for those costs in your bid
