Hi Jennifer, Here's a quick example I just worked up with a few embedded Map Tours so you can see what it will look like. http://arcg.is/1XFgR88 Make sure to select the "stretch" option for positioning your content and don't include any description so the panel won't appear and obscure the map tour. Hi Amy, Unfortunately there isn't a solution for that right now, but we are thinking about how to support this in the future as web technology advances to support this. Since story maps can have so many different types of dynamic web content, this is not an easy requirement to address. We'd also have to determine how/if we could support content like YouTube videos, copyrighted images, etc. that might appear in the Story Map. It might be helpful if you could please add your idea to our ArcGIS Ideas site so others could vote for it and add their thoughts. For now the best way to do this would be to take screenshots and/or record a video walk-through of the story map. Owen

And to answer your second question, the process of embedding the time aware app in a story map is the same that you'd use to embed the swipe/compare app in a story map. Here's another post that describes that in more detail: Embedding a Story Map within a Story Map | ArcGIS Blog Owen

Hi Timmy, The only way to create that experience would be to download the app from GitHub and customize the code and host the app yourself. Here is a customization of Map Journal that incorporates search (as opposed to a drop-down). Would that meet your needs? If so, we could share the code and you could host the app yourself. Could you also please tell me a little more about the map journal you are thinking about and how the drop-down would help? Thanks! Owen

Hi Erik, Thanks for your question. I'm not sure exactly what the tabs would do, but it sounds like this change is only something that could be done through customization of the application code. You can download the source code from Github if you are interested in doing that: Esri/map-series-storytelling-template-js · GitHub If you are looking for a solution without coding, you can embed story maps inside story maps, so perhaps embedding a Map Series or Map Journal app inside another Map Series app might get you the experience you are after. See this blog for more information on how to do this: Embedding a Story Map within a Story Map | ArcGIS Blog However, be careful with this technique as you can quickly create a very complicated and confusing experience for your audience, so use it with caution. Hi Sara, Thanks for providing the link to your story. It's looking very nice and will be a great way to provide election results! As Greg mentioned he's created an issue that you can track regarding your request, but the idea to have just one pop-up available on mobile was by design. We've found that even with the desktop/laptop layout most viewers don't realize that little arrow at the top shows additional pop-ups or are confused as to why there are different pages, so that is not a good experience either. Either way having multiple pop-ups at the same location is not a storytelling pattern that we'd recommend. I'd encourage you to try to find another way to provide the county wide information, especially since the map is not really adding anything in that case (there is just one feature). Perhaps you could remove the tab for county-wide results and just put a link in the header to a PDF of the county-wide results (like you have in the upper right)? Do you think that would meet your requirements? Owen

Hi Tyler, Thanks for the kind words about Story Maps! 🙂 The team is certainly working hard to bring you new and innovative ways to tell your stories using your great maps and data. Regarding your other question about Map Series, I think the option you should use to get the desired layout in this case is Center. This will center the image in the area to the right of the description panel.

Hi Tyler, Sorry you are seeing some issues with the pop-up display on Map Journal. Could you please share links to both of your apps (either here or in a private message to me) so I can take a look? Owen

Judie -- sorry, I was mistaken in my earlier reply. I just double-checked and the only thing I think you are missing (and I was also missing) is that after you enter the image URL in you have to click the to the right of the URL. That should do it! Owen

Hi -- unfortunately hosting icons on ArcGIS Online is not currently supported for symbols. You'll need to host somewhere like Dropbox, Amazon S3, or a web server that can give you a full URL to the image (ending in .jpg, png, etc.).

Hi Vincent, The example you found has Map Journals embedded in a Map Series. Check out this blog post to see how to do this. I will caution you, however, to be mindful of the experience you are building for your audience when you use this technique. Sometimes combining too many different types of apps can get confusing for your readers. Owen

Hi Eddie, As Greg mentioned if you want your viewers to be able to get back to your initial explanation screen you shouldn't use an intro point in your tour. Make your intro screen as tour point #1 and perhaps make it a different color icon to distinguish it from the rest of the points. You can put the first point at a location like your office in DC or just the center of DC. This is not an ideal user experience, but another option would be to put a hyperlink for your app in the subtitle section. That would essentially reload the app at the intro screen. For this you'd use the HTML code in the subtitle field like this: <a href="http://www.arcgis.com/apps/MapTour/?appid=abcdefghi123456789">Click here to show intro.</a> We are looking at updating the existing Map Tour layouts and adding several new ones in 2016, and we will consider adding this feature as part of that update. I've added an issue for this request on GitHub and you can follow it here. Owen

Kate/Allen, Thanks for your interest in the Story Map Crowdsource app. We are planning to release a downloadable form of the new Story Map Crowdsource app in November 2015, which will continue to be updated periodically after that with additional features as they are finished. Then, in March 2016 we plan to deploy a hosted version on ArcGIS Online. It's still undecided if/how the Twitter hashtag feature will be included. As Lee mentioned above there is a server-side component that handles this in our current custom deployments, so the team still needs to work out how to best implement this. Owen
