Pam - Ah, got it. I see you've opened an issue on Github for this as well. Thx. We will make sure to look at resolving this in a future release and thank you for reporting this. Until then I think you should be able to use the ArcGIS Online Assistant tool to edit the map journal's JSON to change http to https. I'd recommend trying this on a new journal you create to test this and also to create a copy of your journal using AGO assistant before editing the JSON as this is always somewhat risky. The JSON editing feature can be found by selecting "I want to...View an item's JSON" then finding the item and then clicking the pencil icon at the top left of the JSON window. Let me know if this works for you Owen

Hi Pam -- I think it might be a mixed-content issue (http and https in the same app). Are you accessing your Journal via https? If not give that a try, and make sure to provide the https link when sharing.

Adam, You'll need to type the list of locations you want your viewers to zoom to in the side panel. Then for each location, highlight its text, choose Change the Main Stage content (first screenshot), and set a custom configuration (second screenshot) for both the location and popup (click the feature you want to show the popup). For location, zoom to the location you want to show and click Save, for the popup click the feature to make the popup visible and click Save.

Hi Adam, You'll need to use the Story Map Journal to configure main stage actions (sorry, my original response above I mistakenly said Series as well). Also, it looks like you've added the map as a "Web Page" using the embed app (I see the Info side panel). At this time Story Map Journal isn't able to perform main stage actions on maps in embedded apps (but we are looking at adding this for a future release). To configure an action to change the map you'll need to add the map directly by selecting Map as your content type, then highlight some text in your side panel to activate the Main Stage Action buttons I showed in the previous post.

Yes, this is possible if you are using the Story Map Journal app. This is called a "main stage action." Here's an example, in the second section click on the dashed hyperlinks to change things in the map (turn on a layer, zoom to a feature and show it's pop-up). Create a Map Journal and add some text to a sections side panel. Then configure a main stage action by highlighting the text you want the viewer to click on to perform the action, choosing one of the main stage actions from the toolbar, and configuring the details of the action. Hope this helps! Owen

Yup -- Adam is correct, many presenters used the Story Map Series app. Here's a link to Bernie's What's Trending in Web GIS presentation. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=5075c6966c5e4f7c82ad16cde2e06ad Owen

Hi, 1) I believe you are asking if there is a way to download/export the configuration of a completed Story Map, is that right? Sorry, there is currently no way to do this, but we are considering options for this in the future. Can you please share the workflow you'd like to accomplish by downloading the app or exporting the configuration? 2) There is a lot of information in the readme file on each GitHub repository. Just scroll down from the main page and you will see the readme file content... 3) Correct, when you edit code via Inspect Element or other browser tools you are only changing the files on your local machine. It would be a slight security flaw if you could change HTML/JS files on someone else's app or server! 😉 Hope this is helpful! Owen

Hi Carol, 1 - There is no configuration option to add a legend to a Map Tour at this time, but you can add some text to your subtitle to denote what the colors mean. See this example. The text fields in the Map Tour support HTML tags, so to change the styling of some text use a <span> tag as shown below with a hex color value or name. My map tour title contains <span style="color:dodgerblue"><b>some bold, blue text</b></span>. 2 - You can add a label to each tour point by opening the web map that was created when you made your map tour and configuring labels on the tour point layer. You can find the web map in your My Content (it should have the same name as your Map Tour app) or use My Stories on the Story Maps website to find your Map Tour and click Edit Map to open it (see this blog post for more info about editing a Map Tour web map). Regarding #2, To avoid cluttering the map, I'd recommend using labels only with a plain basemap like the grey or dark canvas. You could also consider only labeling certain key tour points instead of all of them. To do this you could add a copy of your tour point layer that you filter to only show the points you need to label. Owen
