Looks like this issue was diagnosed as a network issue and resolved (see this other thread on GeoNet).

Thanks for the information, Frank! I'm interested in learning more about the zoning maps that you'll publish. The legend can of course be added to a printout, but are the maps labeled? One of the challenges we see with printing story maps is that many web maps are often much less useful when they lose their interactivity. If you can't click to see a pop-up many of the features would be unknown to a reader looking at a paper print out. Do you have a case where the maps are (or could be) authored in a way that they will be useful and contain the necessary reference information for a reader to make sense of a printed map? Thanks again for your help! Owen

Hi Sorry you are having trouble with one of the Story Map apps. To change the symbols of a map note just open the map note feature's pop-up and click Change Symbol. Then you can choose a new symbol or click Use an Image to point to a symbol on the web via URL. For the second issue, it sounds like the web map may have not been saved or the Contents configuration in the story map was not what you expected. Are you still having this issue? If so can you share a link to the app? Owen

Hi Frank/Mahesh, We have heard the request for printing story maps before and have discussed it, but we don't have any firm plans in this area. It would be very helpful to us if you could please provide some more information about how you and your story map readers would use a print function. Who would be printing the map and for what purpose? Would you/they need to print a single section or would they want a printout of the entire story or need both options? Would they "print" to a PDF document or to make a paper/hard copy or both? Any other specific requirements that you can think of? Owen

Hi Martha, There was a recent blog post about the URL parameters supported by ArcGIS Online configurable apps. However, if you are just using another app to provide layer toggling, I'd strongly recommend that you consider adding the web map to your Map Journal and using Main Stage Actions to manipulate the map for your readers. Main Stage Actions don't require any additional user interface controls (like a layer list, basemap selector, etc.) that might clutter your journal or confuse your readers. They allow you to integrate the control of the map into the words of your story. Just highlight some text and click the Change Main Stage Content button to configure an action. Actions can turn layers on/off, zoom to a location, or make a specific feature's pop-up appear. You can even switch to a different web map or change the main stage from one type of content to another (map to image, video to map, image to web page, etc.). Actions can help you use a single web map to tell many different parts of your story. Hope this is helpful! Owen

Hi Judie, Sorry you are having trouble. I just looked at your Map Journal in Safari, Chrome and Firefox on my Mac and it looked perfect (great work on the Story Map, btw!). Have you tried clearing your browser cache? Owen

Hi Adam, Great start so far! Unfortunately, it's not possible to set up behavior like you described in the Map Series app. I'd suggest trying the Bulleted layout for your Map Series app (Settings > Layout). Since you have a lot of sections, and the titles of many of them are long, I think bullets might give your app a cleaner look. Another option you could try is the Story Map Shortlist app. It does have the interaction between the map and the descriptions you are looking for (like Map Tour). The downside with Shortlist is currently you have to download the code for it and host it yourself. We are working on adding Shortlist as a hosted app in ArcGIS Online sometime in the first half of next year. Owen

Hi Judie, That's great to hear that you are making your way through all the Story Map apps! The Map Tour app is different from the Journal and Series apps in that you can easily create your map inside the Map Tour app by adding your photos/points whereas Map Series and Map Journal are apps that allow you to bring in web maps from ArcGIS Online. These maps can be yours or they can be from Esri's Living Atlas or any other public web map that you find share by the community. So for these apps you would create and save your map on arcgis.com and then bring it into Series or Journal. The best way to add data to your web map depends on a few things like how often you want to do updates and what data you have available. If you drag a second CSV onto the map it will create a second layer, but you can simply delete the original layer if you want the update to replace the original one. I'm not sure if you've found these already, but all of the Story Map apps have tutorials on the Story Maps website. Here's the tutorial for Map Journal. You can get to the others by clicking on Apps, then Learn More next to any one of the app listings, then the Tutorial tab. Owen

Hi Judie, First, I just wanted to make sure that you realized that there are several symbol sets available on ArcGIS Online. I've noticed that sometimes people don't realize you can select a category of symbols (see the first few screenshots below). There are also several great open-use symbols sets on the web. One of my favorites is Map Icons by Nicolas Mollet. These symbols are under a Creative Commons license, so make sure to credit your use of them. To use them: Download the symbols you want Post them publicly on the web somewhere such as on your web server or other web storage like Dropbox, Amazon S3, etc. (note: hot linking directly from the Map Icons website is not allowed) Go to the symbol settings for your layer and click the link to Use an Image (see last screenshot) Paste in the URL of your symbol Owen

Hi Melissa, Sorry, we are unsure at this point. The workflow Mark shared sounds like it will meet your needs. Download the app, customize it, host it yourself, and then point to your existing app configuration in ArcGIS Online. You won't have to start configuring the app from scratch. Please let me know if this will work, and if not why and I can try to help - thanks! Owen

Hi Jake -- the Crowdsource Manager configurable app isn't a Story Map, so I've moved this question to the Local Government space where you'll be able to get the best response to your question. I'd also suggest updating the title of your question to reference "Crowdsource Manager" rather than Story Maps to better reflect the nature of your question so that you're more likely to get a good response.
