Ann, Alexander, and Heather, Sorry you are having this issue. I just tested this in Chrome, Safari, and Firefox and things worked as expected. Could you try clearing your browser cache and then connecting to Fb from the map journal app again? If that doesn't work, could you please post some screenshots of where the process hangs? Owen

Hi Jan, Thanks for the additional information. I was able to reproduce the situation you described and we have identified this as a bug. I've created this Github issue so you can track it: Pins created by locate place/address main stage action do not disappear. · Issue #33 I also have a suggestion for how you might be able to accomplish something similar: Create a web map that has one feature layer or map notes layer with the points you want to call out for each section (one layer per section). Add this web map to a map journal section, and use a custom content configuration to make only the layer for the current section visible. (see screenshots, below) In the side panel, highlight the text that you want the reader to click on to zoom to the first point and use a main stage action to "Change the main stage content" and use a custom location configuration to pan/zoom the map to the first point. Repeat as needed for each point in the first section. Add another section to the journal, use the same web map and a custom content configuration to make only the layer for the second section visible. Configure main stage action text links for the second section as needed. Repeat as needed for all remaining sections. Hope this helps and let me know if you have any more questions. Owen

Hi Jan, Yes, this is the right place for questions about the Map Journal! However, I'm not sure I understand your question. Can you please provide a bit more information as well as a screenshot indicating the blue bullets/markers you mentioned? Thanks! Owen

If there is a 3rd party tool then I assume the way to do this would be to use a standard HTML iframe to embed the story map app like what you see below. When embedding on a web page you can use typical iframe parameters like width, height, frameborder, etc. to specify the size and appearance of the iframe, if the tool supports that. <iframe src="http://my.server.com/myapp/index.html"></iframe> I'd be interested to hear if anyone gets this to work, so please post back here if you do. Hi Andy, In the time that has passed since your question about the Zoo Babies app the Story Maps Team has released a new version of the Story Map Series template that supports the "bulleted" layout of the Zoo Babies story. You can find more information here. Owen

Hi Brian, I did a quick web search and didn't find any information on ways to embed HTML/JS or other dynamic content inside a PDF, so I don't think this is possible. If you know of a way to do this, please post details here and I can investigate further. Owen

Hi Jared, You can upload map packages to ArcGIS Online like Sephe pointed out, but that just stores the map package file itself on the web so that that others can download the map package itself and use it in Desktop. It sounds like you want to add the image in your map document to a web map and share it as part of a story map. In this case, you should publish the map document with your TIFF from ArcMap as a hosted tile service. This help topic has more information on how to complete this process. You can either build your tiles using ArcMap on your desktop or let ArcGIS Online do it for you. If you let ArcGIS Online build the tiles you may consume credits. The help topic I referenced has information on both workflows. Once you have a tile service in ArcGIS Online you can add it to a web map and share that in the swipe story map app. Hope this help! Owen (I'm going to move this thread to the ArcGIS Online space since the question itself relates to hosted services rather than story maps.)

Hi Kate, (I edited this response since I realized the process is even easier than what I originally posted.) It's not a crazy question at all! In fact, this is a great technique to use, especially when building a map journal or series. You can embed a story map (or any ArcGIS Online template app) in another story map. When you are adding a section or tab to your story map, choose "Web page" as your content type, then just paste in the URL of your other story map in the Webpage URL box. The click Configure and choose "Stretch" so your story map will fill the entire main stage. Here's a tip that you may want to use when embedding a story map: if you add "?&embed" to the end of your app URL (or just "&embed" if there is already a ? and other parameters in the URL) this will strip off the title and social media sharing icons from the embedded app. Since your main app already has these you probably don't need to duplicate them in one of your journal sections or series tabs. This tip works with most of the story map apps like swipe/spyglass, map tour, basic, etc. For example, click these two links to see the difference between standard and embedded mode in this Swipe story map. http://story.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StorytellingSwipe/index.html?appid=97ae55e015774b7ea89fd0a52ca551c2 http://story.maps.arcgis.com/apps/StorytellingSwipe/index.html?appid=97ae55e015774b7ea89fd0a52ca551c2&embed To see an example of a story map within a story map check out this Map Series where you'll see a Map Journal in the "Point-of-Sale strategies" tab. Hope this helps! Owen

Hi Dunny, To unshare your story map go to arcgis.com, sign in, and click on My Content at the top. There you will find your story map web application item and change its sharing settings. If there is one or more web maps in your story map you can find those items and adjust their sharing settings as well, if needed. There are also links in the Share panel in several story map apps that will link you right to the app and/or web map item pages. Expand the question about keeping your app private. See screenshot examples below... Owen

Hi Stacey -- glad you figured out your issue! Regarding the legend, if the other method you found doesn't work for you, I have used the tactic of simply adding information to my app subtitle to explain the pin colors. See this example.

Hi Stacey, Sorry you are having trouble with the map tour. Here's some help to get you started. If you choose the option to upload your photos to ArcGIS Online you'll then be prompted to enter a name for the feature service that the map tour builder will create for you... A few seconds after you click Create the service you will see the Map Tour Builder. Just click the Add button at the bottom of the builder to add a new tour point... ...and you'll be prompted to browse to your photo (or you can simply drag it into the Media panel). Once you finish adding the Information and Location for the first tour point on the other two tabs you can click Add tour point and the photo will be uploaded to the feature service as an attachment. Repeat as needed to add all your tour points. I hope this is helpful!

Hi Michael, In that case you might want to look at the Web AppBuilder. It is available as a separate tab when you share your map as a web application and provides a wizard-driven app design experience. Each story map app is designed for a very specific, focused user experience whereas WAB lets you create more generic apps with the standard tools GIS users are familiar with. For example it has a layer list widget that supports the functionality I believe you are looking for (see screenshot below). If you want to publish an app for a more professional audience that lets them explore your data, make their own decisions about which layers are visible, and perhaps support other typical GIS functions (like viewing the attribute table) WAB lets you do that without any coding. The WAB also creates web apps that provide a good user experience in a desktop/laptop browser as well as on tablets and phones.
