Hi Lindsay -- Unfortunately, Cascade does not currently support YouTube videos when the app is self-hosted or hosted on an Enterprise portal. We are looking at supporting this in 10.6.1 (or possibly a 10.6 patch). When this is implemented an administrator will need to add your own YouTube API key to a configuration file in the Cascade app on your portal.

Hi Meredith -- Sorry Cascade is giving you trouble while adding those images. Would you be able to share the images here so I can take a look? Cascade is a responsive app, meaning that it will change the layout of content to fit the browser/device window size. So when you add more than one image to a row Cascade may resize/rearrange them images. Your best bet to make a row of uniform images that always looks like a uniform row of images is to combine your map images into a single image in an image editing app, and then add that to your Cascade story.

Lindsay -- Sorry you are having an issue with Cascade on your Enterprise portal. Can you share the link of the YouTube video you are trying to embed so we can test it? Can you confirm that you can open the video in a regular browser and that YouTube isn't blocked by your organization's IT department?

Hi Jason -- Sorry, URL parameters aren't supported in the Cascade builder at this time, but we are considering adding that in a future release. For now, you can try the little hack described in this GeoNet thread to add the start/end times to your video.

Hi Thomas -- Can you provide a little more information? Where do the images appear in your story (in a map pop-up in the main stage, side panel?) and where/how are they hosted? Do you have an example link to one of the webcams you can share here?

Elizabeth -- Since Journal and Series work somewhat differently, you'll need to know JavaScript to adapt the sample in that article to work with Series.

Hi Mila -- Repeating the content of my email to you here on this thread so others can see the resolution to this issue... Sorry for the delay in replying. Our developers have traced this to an element visibility bug in Chrome. The bug is scheduled to be fixed in the next version of Chrome (v 63), which should be released this week. This issue will resolve once the new version of Chrome is released. We've confirmed this by testing your story and others that had this issue using Chrome Canary, the experimental version of Chrome that already has this fix. Owen

Hi Elizabeth -- Unfortunately, that's not supported in the Map Series builder right now. We are considering that enhancement for a future update, but we currently don't have a specific date when we plan to add it. You can create that sort of experience if you are able/willing to customize the application code and host it on your own web server. We have an article on our developer blog that shows you how to do something similar for Story Map Journal, so you could consider looking at that. The article includes sample code, so you don't have to know JavaScript to be able to make the customization. For the situation you described, Map Journal might work just as well. https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/navigate-map-journal-sections-using-the-mainstage-map-ab827a105d0c Owen

All -- We addressed a few issues with images in shared story maps in ArcGIS Enterprise 10.6. I'm not sure if my test portal environment exactly duplicates your environments, but I am not able to reproduce the situation you have described on my 10.6 test portal using SAML logins. When 10.6 is released, please let me know if you are still seeing this issue after you upgrade.

Kate -- Glad things are working as expected now. Not adding -modified shouldn't make the app unstable. Just make sure you are careful about the order in which you make edits and save them if you have the builder and AGO Assistant open simultaneously. For example, if you load the story JSON in AGO Assistant, then make changes in the story map builder without saving, then edit and save the JSON, your changes from builder would be lost (since you loaded the JSON before they were made). After saving changes in builder be sure to click the item name in the left column while viewing the JSON in AGO Assistant to request the latest.

Aaron -- Video has never worked as a background on the cover or in an immersive section in Cascade on mobile devices. It is an technical limitation with how mobile operating systems handle video and embedded content. During the beta period, there was no error, but the video would not load properly or show a playback error, depending on what type of device you viewed it on. In the June 2017 update that I mentioned above we improved this experience to A) give authors the ability to add an alternate image that shows in place of the video on mobile, and B) if no alternate image is added readers see the message you noted in the screenshot above.

Hi Aaron -- Videos added as a background (like on the cover or in an immersive section) never worked on mobile devices in Cascade. In the June 2017 update a feature was added that warns you of this situation and gives you the ability to add a static image that will display in place of the video on mobile devices. See this blog for details: Optimize a Cascade Story for Mobile Readers | ArcGIS Blog If you want to ensure your readers can see your videos, even on a mobile device, be sure to add them in-line in a narrative section.
