@AaronKoelker - That's great to hear! In this first release, we handled the major/essential elements. In future releases we will work on expanding the set of elements that the shape applies to. Things like quote and link styles that have background fills, express map annotation, chart bar/column elements, map controls, and more are on our list. Stay tuned!

The December 10, 2025 release of ArcGIS StoryMaps added a new SHAPE property to StoryMap themes that enables you to configure the rounding of corners for media blocks and other visual elements in your ArcGIS StoryMaps content. The new styles (from left to right) are called sharp, soft, and curved. You can see a video showing how these look in this blog: What's new in ArcGIS StoryMaps (December 2025). This SHAPE property has been applied to the standard themes in a way that reflects the previous styling of the buttons in each theme. This helps to realize our original vision for the standard themes. This means that media blocks and other elements now have curved corners in any content that uses Obsidian and soft corners when using Ridgeline and Tidal. Summit, Mesa, and Slate continue to have sharp corners. If you wish to go back to using the original Obsidian, you can find it in the featured themes gallery. Simply apply the "Obsidian (original)" theme, then republish your content. Of course you can also use the original version on any new ArcGIS StoryMap items you create, if you prefer the original.

@John_Herrera -- As noted in the ArcGIS Assistant doc, this workflow is not likely to be successful. https://guide.assistant.esri-ps.com/docs/common-workflows#can-i-copy-stories-between-online-and-enterprise The version of ArcGIS StoryMaps on ArcGIS Online is always newer than one running on an Enterprise portal, and StoryMaps are not backward compatible in this way. You could try removing elements from the story data that aren't supported in 11.5 to see if you could get it to work, but I'm not confident in the chances of success.

@Joshua_Damron -- Thanks for posting your question about migrating your classic story. Since your classic story is a set of resources with short descriptions, I think there are a few options for you: As you mentioned, Experience Builder would be something to look at. The Portfolio Instant App is the most similar to your classic story's layout. Check out examples here, in particular this one. An ArcGIS Hub site might also be a good replacement, especially if you think you will expand the list of resources you need to share in the future. Additionally, if your organization has other similar classic stories to migrate you could migrate them all to a nicely organized Hub site that would centralize the information and allow it to be searchable. There are many examples in this gallery of Hub sites with pages that provide information and links to other maps, apps, and resources that might fit your need.

Thanks for the additional information, @Laura. I wouldn't recommend creating 18 different maps since that will not be good for performance, and you won't get smooth transitions between slides since a different map will have to load for each one. That classic story is not filtering features from the layer. There is a separate "outline" layer in the map for each hole that is being toggled on to highlight it (see the map here). That is a technique you could use in ArcGIS StoryMaps if you had a few features to highlight, but I'm not wild about recommending that you add 18 more layers to your map... You could use the Settings > Keep pop-up open toggle to highlight the current hole in each slide. That will add a selection color to the feature outline and show its pop-up. We have considered adding a new toggle to the map configuration settings that would enable you to highlight a feature without showing the pop-up. Would that help in your case?

@SarahKiefer -- Thanks for sharing your idea. Related to @AaronKoelker's comment, would simply increasing the row limit work for you, or would other changes be needed to obtain the experience you're looking for? I'm wondering if for a table that large you would want the padding to be reduced in each cell to make it more compact? Do you have any screenshots of examples of the larger tables you have added to other stories via image or embedding that you can share so we can get a better idea of your visual expectations?

@AstridF - We are not seeing any system-side issues. I just opened and tested several random items from the StoryMaps gallery and they are all behaving normally, so I'm not sure what might be causing the issues you are seeing. Please contact Esri Technical Support and they can help you troubleshoot your individual situation.

@XanderTurner - If the SAVE button is not enabled, that means there are one or more layers in your scene that are taking a very long time to load. For some very detailed layers, you may have to wait up to a minute or longer. You can try creating a new scene and adding layers one at a time to isolate which one is taking a long time. If you are not able to determine which layer is causing the issue, please contact Esri Technical Support and they can help you troubleshoot.

@Laura -- Thanks for sharing this idea and your example! We will monitor this idea to see how many other people would like to see this. Could you share more about why your use case requires turning off features for other holes rather than simply zooming to the extent of a different hole in each slide? Could you also please provide details or an example of how you did this in the classic storytelling templates?
