Are you running the app from your local server (URL will start with http) or are you running it from the file system (URL will start with file://)? When you are testing the app you will need to run it from the local server. If you are still having issues, can you paste a public URL to your app or send a zip file of the code you are deploying? You can either attach the code to this thread or message me directly through Geonet. We can take a look to see if there are any errors in your code.

The "require" method that is not defined because that method comes from the dojo framework. If you add this code to the index.html file, you are running it before dojo has been loaded. A few releases ago, we had to move where dojo was being loaded. You can now add this custom code to the "custom-scripts" file that gets loaded after dojo is available: storymap-journal/custom-scripts.js at master · Esri/storymap-journal · GitHub.

It is not possible to sort contributions in the beta version of the Crowdsource if you are using the hosted app. The points are displayed in chronological order based on submission date so new items are always easily visible to keep viewers coming back to your story. The only way to add sorting would be to download the app and customize the source code.

Lesi, The map journal app does not contain a file the specifically controls the popup experience. Instead it relies on the default popup experience that is built into the JavaScript API for the webmap. I would actually encourage you not immediately open a new tab when a user clicks on a feature in the map. That is not the typical behavior of a map application (arcgis map or other maps applications online) and may cause the user the get disoriented. It also drives the user away from your story and they are not likely to return. Instead, I would recommend creating very simple popups the include the title of the feature, maybe a simple description and a small photo that is a link to the website. This allows the user to explore multiple points then, when they are ready, they can open the new tab for more information. Here's a story our team created as an example: http://storymaps.esri.com/stories/2014/brazil-beyond-the-stadiums/. The soccer ball icons contain links to information about the soccer stadiums. These popups can easily be created through the ArcGIS Online map editor.

Can you provide the steps you took to create the Map Tour? - Did you start from by sharing a web map or from the story maps website? - Did you do anything in the map tour builder before trying to select the source for your images?

James, you mentioned you have an ArcGIS Online subscription. Do you know what type of account it is? Are you a member of an organization, using a single developer account, a public account, or something else? If you are a member of an organization, has your administrator given you access to publish and edit feature services?

Can you share the URL of your story so we can take a look. Also, instead of "fetching" the data again from the developer tools, try sharing it a couple times. Sometimes Facebook will not share the thumbnail the first time after you scrape it. It may take a few minutes for Facebook to cache the thumbnail on their servers and they do not cache it until you share it.

Currently there is no way to make a story public but not discoverable through search. However, you can change the URL of the original item and use the URL to your customized version. This way anytime someone clicks through the item page, they will get redirected to your customized version, not the original. To do this, open the item page and click the settings tab. Then scroll down until you see the URL field under the Web Mapping Application Settings settings. Replace this with: http://www.chescoplanning.org/adc/farmfinder/.

Kevin, looking into this further, I think you may be running into an issue because you are using window 8.1 and the windows photo viewer to manually change the photo orientation. There are two main ways to rotate a photo: Change the orientation meta tag in the photo exif data. Rotate the actual photo (pixels) and save it. Almost all cameras and smartphones change the orientation by setting the orientation meta data in the exif. This is the go to standard and what web browsers read to display the photo correctly. Unfortunately, older versions of windows do not read the exif orientation data and the default windows image viewer rotates images using process 2 above. See this support article from Microsoft: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/help/2001954/picture-orientation-set-by-a-camera-is-not-honored-by-windows-or-window…. When you rotated the photo in Windows, you rotated the pixels but the exif data tells the browser to rotate it again so you get a double rotation. To fix this, try rotating the photo in windows back to the original orientation. Alternatively, you could try using a different photo editor to rotate your photos.

Hi Claudia, Are you still having this same issue? We just tested your story with a couple different iPhones (old and new) as well as an iPad and desktop safari and could not reproduce the map not loading. I checked the ArcGIS health dashboard and noticed the hosted feature service were reporting some intermittent issues a few days ago that has since been resolved. All the points and photos in that app live in a hosted feature service so it's possible the app failed to load because the feature service could not be loaded.
