Antonio, can you provide us with more information. I'm having trouble understanding what you are trying to do. Are you trying to embed this crowdsource source into another app: https://www.arcgis.com/apps/StoryMapCrowdsource/index.html?appid=78b819db2f1446b0ac7c93252a53c5ff? Or are you trying to embed this webpage into an app: CrowdRescue HQ? You will not be able to embed this app in another story that uses an https (secure URL) because the server hosting that app does not support a https secure connection. All modern browsers block insecure content from being loaded in a secure connected app. This is a security restriction set in place by browsers to prevent viewer's sensitive information from being leaked and does not have a workaround. If you would like to embed this app, you will need to contact the server admin and have them add a signed SSL Certificate to the server. You can still add a link to this website that will open in a new tab. Are you attempting to embed one of those apps (so the app is loaded within the other app) or link to one of those apps (Clicking a link open the app in a new browser tab)? Which Story Map are you trying to embed/link the the app in. Here's a list of the our apps to choose from: Apps | Story Maps. Can you share the steps you used to embed the app?

Make sure you have filled out the item page for the story map on ArcGIS Online. The facebook link preview will use the title, subtitle, and thumbnail from the item page. If you have already updated your item page but you are still seeing old content, you can request Facebook to clear their cache and request the new information with this tool: https://developers.facebook.com/tools/debug/og/object/. Just enter the URL to the story and click the "Fetch new scrape information." If you are getting the correct title and subtitle, try waiting a few minutes and sharing the link a couple times. Facebook does not cache the photo the first time a link is shared.

Hi Antonio, Can you provide a little more information about how you are embedding the app. Which story map are you using? Also, can you share the steps you used to embed the app? Do you have a URL to share so we can see if there are any errors? I was able to embed it without issues: http://testing-story.maps.arcgis.com/apps/MapSeries/index.html?appid=35a85b3dd6e448608212da722aa98ffd

My guess is you are running into mix content issues. The server hosting your layer does not contain a SSL certificate so it can only be access through insecure connections (http). Our stories can be accessed over insecure connections (http) or secure connections (https). When a story loads over https, all content (including your layer) that is loaded over http will be blocked. This is a standard web browser security feature and not something we can work around. You should still be able to see the story and layer if the URL of the story starts with http (not https). A better solution would be to add a SSL certificate on your server and then readd the layer to the webmap making sure to use its new https URL.

Hi Naomi, in the last release of ArcGIS Online, the feature service team added a new group of servers to handle additional users. This new group did not get whitelisted in our JavaScript API until after the release. Because of this, the story map cannot communicate correctly with those servers and the story fails halfway through the creation process. We have a fix in our code and have added additional measures to make sure this does not happen again in the future. Unfortunately, these fixes will not be rolled until the next ArcGIS Online update (scheduled for September). Until then, our team has created a temporary URL that you can use to create a new crowdsource stories. This bug is only an issue in the initial app creation step of the builder. Once you create the items with this temporary URL, you will be redirected to the app on ArcGIS Online which you can edit and share as you normally would. Here's the app you can use to create your stories: https://storymap-crowdsource.surge.sh/index.html?fromScratch

What version of IE are you using? We only support IE 11 and Edge. If you are using one of those versions, can you check if you are using the Compatibility Mode? Compatibility Mode simulates an earlier version of IE and is not supported by our apps.

Here's a blog post that provides an overview of how to download the apps for hosting and customizing: https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/an-introduction-to-hosting-your-own-story-map-e2450181ad2f. Hosting on your server will be specific to the server/provider you choose but your provider should be able to offer assistance with that. One free service, that you can also just use for testing, is Surge. We've written a blog post about it here: https://developerscorner.storymaps.arcgis.com/host-your-story-maps-for-free-with-surge-8bddcc4cd580

Armando, The reason your layers are not showing up in the story is because you are using http (insecure URLs) to your server. All modern web browsers block insecure content from loading when the parent app (your Story Map) is being loaded over a secure https connection. This is to prevent private information being leaked. You can temporarily fix this by making sure your story is always shared using an http URL. Just remove the "s" at the end of http and refresh the page before sharing. It is possible that someone may find your page and through ArcGIS Online and open it instead of accessing your shared link directly. In this case, they may still run into blocked content. In the coming months, all story maps will be required to use a secure https connection to better protect user privacy as well as it has become the best practice in web standards. With that in mind, we recommend adding a https certificate to the server running ArcServer and re-add the layers in your web map, making sure to use an https URL. We design our apps to be responsive so that users can access the best parts of the story based on the screen size they are viewing them on. This allows you to share a single URL that will work well across desktop browsers, tablets, smartphones, and even small embedded iframes. Because the frame you are embedding the crowdsource story in is so small, it switches over to our small-screen view which has a different feature set. Adding all the features at that size would make it very difficult to use and be very cluttered. If you are unable to make the frame larger (at least 769px wide), you might add a screenshot in place of the embedded app which links out to the full story.
