Yes, it looks like the basemap no longer exists or has been corrupted. You can contact Esri Tech support about that. Instead of opening the basemap only, try opening the full web map with the crowdsource layer in it and replace the basemap with one of the default base maps. Then click save. Try opening the crowdsource app again to see if it works. If it does work, you can try adding your custom basemap again but you should first figure out why the basemap is not loading in the map viewer?

Is your new app still prompting you to log in? When I first checked it, it made me sign in but no longer does. Did you change anything. For the first app, can you open the web map in the ArcGIS Online map viewe, remove the old basemap, and then save it again. If the basemap fails to load, try just choosing a layer from the basemap picker then save the web map. If that doesn't fix it, let me know.

Hi Mike, sorry your having the issue with the beta version of the story map. Can you verify that the app, map, and all layers in the map are shared publicly? Once you do that, can you share a link to your story and I'll look and see why the basemap may be corrupted. Did you ever edit the app or map outside of the builder? If so, what did you change?

No there is not guide for this specific change, it is developer customization. After you make the change, you will also need a server to host the code. We chose to disable popups for these type of stories because in most cases they confuse the user experience for the end viewer. They also do not interact well with the custom popups we've added.

Yes, popups are disabled on the Map Tour app. We do not currently have plans to add this as an option to the Map Tour template. If you need popups, you will need to download the code and customize it to enable the popups.

Thanks for your feedback. We have heard similar feedback from other users that they would like to protect user privacy. Instead of removing the "locate" and "find on map" buttons we are considering an option to generalize locations to the closest admin boundary centroid. For example if a user chooses a home address, that point would automatically get moved to the city centroid. Would this be a viable solution for your privacy needs?

Nevin, I took a closer look and our Map Journal app uses a different version of our photo uploader code which does not rotate the photo based off exif data. We've added it to the issue tracker so we can get it in the next release. For the time being, I recommend rotating the photos as before then strip try stripping the exif data before uploading: What Is EXIF Data, and How Can I Remove It From My Photos?

The next ArcGIS Online release will be in September/October. If you are willing to host the app on your own server, we can provide the source code with the fix sooner than that.

Nevin, Can you upload the photo as an attachment (preferably in a zip file). You may need to us the Advanced editor (top right corner when you're adding a post). When you just insert the image, it strips all the exif data from the image.

Thanks for submitting this. I can reproduce this on our android phones. It looks like there was change in how Chrome renders are app that prevents it from scrolling appropriately. We'll try to get this fixed in our next release.

McNeil, You are correct with your second question. Hosting the code allows you have a customized version of the app. You can also change the "URL" field (under the settings tab) on the item in ArcGIS Online so everyone will be linked to your server and see the customized version instead of the version hosted on ArcGIS Online. The appId will still reference the same item in ArcGIS Online. To your first question, OAuth is a standard authentication protocol that allows an application authenticate without having direct access to your username and password. Instead, when you authorize an app (popup dialog), the application will only get a token which will expire after a set amount of time. In order to use OAuth, you must register the application with ArcGIS Online. This id is not saved in you settings. Once you go through the process of registering your app, you will be provided the oauth id. Here's a help article about registering your app: Add items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS

Nevin, I'm sorry you are having issues uploading your photo. Can you provide some more information? Are you able to upload the photo as an attachment so we can check the photo orientation saved in the exif data? What did you use take your photo? Camera Model? Smartphone (type?). What version of Windows are you running? Did you try rotating your photo with the Window's photo viewer? Our app relies on exif data to automatically rotate the photo on upload. The exif data is the standard way of setting the photo's orientation and is the method used by camera and smartphone manufacturers. Unfortunately, Microsoft does not set the exif orientation when rotating a photo through the windows photo viewer so you will need to use a different photo editor to rotate the photo.

Is it possible to share a public link to the app, you can send me a private message with link? I suspect there may be something else happening besides sharing? You can first test with your coworker to see if sharing publicly makes it work.

Are you embedding the page into the map journal; your example page worked for me? Or are you trying to add the HTML directly to the map journal using the HTML editor in the text editor? For security reasons, we restrict certain tags from being added to the HTML, including those script tags: Supported HTML—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS. Feel free to stop by our booth next week at UC if you want help thinking about a good workflow.
