Before closing a Bug in the ESRI software, reach out to the customer who found it to approve the resolution, workaround or reason to close it. Recently the ESRI development team decided not to fix a bug I found without any interaction with me. (#BUG-000130643) There is no way to interact with the team that made the decision. Technical support are not able to reopen bugs. I also work in IT. If I fix a defect in an application I have to get approval from the customer that the resolution is acceptable before closing the ticket. Please make this standard practice at ESRI. Please enhance ESRI customer service and have the development team work directly with customers on resolving bugs.

I agree. I'm reopening the case. I don't believe fields of 5000 characters can have no adverse effects unless they have already tested this with a million records in a map service.

ESRI closed this and decided this is not a bug So it is not in the product plan and is closed. The response: "Intermediate datasets are used to process the data. The datasets are created in the 'memory' workspace which makes the process very fast. The memory workspace sets all text field lengths to 5000, which gets transferred to the output. The longer field lengths do not have any adverse effects. To get the original field lengths: - Use CreateFeatureclass to create a new point FC, and specifying the original table as 'template'. - Append to transfer the features in the output of XYTableToPoints to this new FC." Yeah I get there is a work around, but is this true? "The longer field lengths do not have any adverse effects."??? Is this true in map services? Does anyone know how to reopen a bug that is closed or should I escalate it?

You might be right. I was unaware that a text field could be 5000 characters long.

This bug was logged yesterday. It seems like something that should be tested more thoroughly! BUG-000130643 - XY Table to Point in ArcGIS Pro 2.5 does not retain the number of length for the text field from the file geodatabase table in the output point feature attribute table. Status: New. I broke my usual rule of not installing .0 versions of ESRI software!

I want to place one label per part on a multi-part polygon feature class on an ArcGISJavaScriptAPI web map. Sometimes the multi part features are not adjacent to each other like in this map using ArcPro. In ArcGIS Pro this is done by using the menu: Label Placement duplicate labels: one label per part. I have tried publishing a web map with the labels on, but the webMap does not read the duplicate labels and so only one label is displayed for GH. I've added labels using the JSAP, but I cannot find an option for placing duplicate labels. I think it should be somewhere in the labelClass placement properties, but I can't see it. Is my only option to create a single part featureClass for labeling? Thanks!

I wish, but AGOL isn't exactly the same technology as ArcGIS Enterprise - The REST endpoint is a MapServer in ArcGIS Enterprise, and a FeatureServer in AGOL. In AGOL - https://services6.arcgis.com/snwvZ3EmaoXJiugR/arcgis/rest/services/CDTFA_Cigarette_and_Tobacco_Licencees/FeatureServer In ArcGIS Enterprise (10.5.1 hosted on an older server) http://services.gis.ca.gov/arcgis/rest/services/Economy/BoECigLicences/MapServer Also we are behind internally at 10.6.1 and AGOL is 10.7.

Is it possible to have (or purchase) a staging environment for ArcGIS Online in order to stage and test new data for applications before pushing to production? So far I'm told I should just change the map service names, but that isn't a true test environment and requires code changes to push to production. Can we design an environment that meets IT standards for staging and production like we can with ArcGIS Enterprise?
