I have similar requirement to update a hosted feature layer in AGOL using scheduled python script. My source data is stored in an SDE DB. What is the best way to achieve that in 2021?

I am having the same issue. My setup: Data is stored in SDE DB. Data is accessible in arcmap. I create and sd file in arcmap. Sde file is referenced by arcgis server and validates OK (user has full access to data in SDE). When trying to publish from AGS from sd file I get: ERROR 001487: Failed to update the published service with the server-side data location. Please see the server's log for more details. ERROR 001369: Failed to create the service. Failed to execute (Publish Service Definition). Nothing more in the server log for this attempt than this: Failed to create the service.: Updating the server connection string for layer sqldbuatgisdb.PROPERTY.prLettingEasementLine failed. Attempted connection string was ENCRYPTED_PASSWORD=fffff;SERVER=ip.net;INSTANCE="DSID=c9e5a34b-8bec-4f9f-85e6-87daf7d98674";DBCLIENT=sqlserver;DB_CONNECTION_PROPERTIES=ip.net;DATABASE=db;USER=user;VERSION=sde.DEFAULT;AUTHENTICATION_MODE=DBMS. Table name is sqldbuatgisdb.user.fc. Please verify the data exists on the server. any idea? It fails if I want access to features, WMS is OK. Same data published OK in our test environment.

Hi all I have a feature layer in my portal. I am owner and the layer is sensitive, so only a few people should see it. I have a group for that called gr1. Testing with 2 users u1 and u2. if user is not part of the gr1 they shouldn't see the layer. if user is part of the gr1 they can see the layer. Results: U1 - admin on portal, not part of gr1 = can not see layer. U1 - admin on portal, part of gr1 = can see layer. So u1 seems to have expected behaviour. U2 - admin on portal, not part of gr1 = can see layer. (1) U2 - user on portal, not part of gr1 = can not see layer. U2 - admin on portal, part of gr1 = Not tested due to 1 above. The only difference is u2 has two accounts on portal - one admin (L2) and one user (L1) with 2 different emails. Question: Why the different behaviour? If a user is admin but not part of a gr1 they should not see the layer. Is that correct? So how come u2 saw the data as admin, but not part of gr1? How can a layer be set up on portal to be visible to specific users only? Portal 10.6.1. Using SAML auth.

Sorry for digging up this topic but I want to do the same: FDS copy from SDE to SDE. My set up is SDE1 - oracle w/r access SDE2 - MS SQLS w/r access SDE 1nad 2 are on different machines in the network. Typical bandwidth is ~2-5 MB/s. Using arcgis pro 2.6. SDE FDS has only feature classes and relationship classes. Outside of it in SDE1 DB there are more tables and relsh. classes. Both are linked with FDS. Using copy-paste on the DS pops up an error Paste failed. Invalid name. in pro. It does this for any item (DS, FC, table) simply copy-pasted wont work. If using the script above - it starts and hangs for hours. Is that normal. What is the best way to copy FDS from one SDE to another? As a bigger picture I need to completely make a copy of the full SDE1 DB to SDE2 DB - all in - FDS, tables, RClasses, domains etc. What would be the best way to do so?

I am trying to upgrade porttal from 1061 to 1071. After install i select the license json and click continue. After 10 mins I get this error. Error There was an error when attempting to upgrade the existing portal. Upgrade failed. Unrecognized App ID officeAppsAB. For more information, please view the log messages located in the content directory specified during setup (C:\arcgisportal\logs). Nothing more in the logs that this. If I try again I get this error: Error There was an error when attempting to upgrade the existing portal. Upgrade failed. An I/O error occurred while sending to the backend. For more information, please view the log messages located in the content directory specified during setup (C:\arcgisportal\logs). Same, nothing more in the logs. This app (officeAppsAB) listed in the license file (json). After machine restart I got the same error. It seems licensing fails, because I don’t see the 10.7 folder with keycodes file I c:\ drive. I have done 10s of upgrades first time seeing this. The only difference is I have substituted data.sql and livingatlas.sql files into the \ArcGIS\Portal\framework\template\sql with ones from ESRI to mitigate items usage count reset to 0 bug. Any ideas?

Hi all, I have a arcgis server that serves some services. Server is federated with a portal. These services are used to create web maps (and dashboards) in the portal. Server is behind web adapter. Portal uses IWA to login users. Is there a way to know the users who open an item (map, dashboard, etc) on the portal which contains (any of) these arc gis services? When I open a map that has the service I can see the request to it in the IIS logs on the arcgis server machine but there is no username information in the IIS log. Any ideas?

Hi I got NBS running on linux. Federated it with portal. When trying to open NBS from the tab I am getting Unexpected token < in JSON at position 4 error. This is in the initial setup of NBS, before running the Administration: Prepare portal items for notebooks. Any ideas?

Hi I have set up NBS on Red hat linux. Port 11443 is opened on linux box. I can access it from the https://IP:11443/arcgis/admin I have a WA IIS on separate windows server. I successfully registered the NBS with this WA. I can see the WA in NBS Home > System > Web Adaptors > WAID However I can not access NBS via the WA, I am getting: Could not access any server machines. Please contact your system administrator. Questions: What might the problem be? Can I use IIS WA to link to NBS on linux? My linux box doesnt have a SSL certificate so https triggers a warning? Could this be a problem?

We are trying to set up SSO for our portal. We got the xml SAML file, but we are getting this error when trying to login suing SSO. AADSTS700016: Application with identifier '<name>' was not found in the directory '<name>'. This can happen if the application has not been installed by the administrator of the tenant or consented to by any user in the tenant. You may have sent your authentication request to the wrong tenant. I think we have setup the reply URLs incorrectly. What are the reply URLs for SSO in portal?

Hi I have a CAD dwg with 103 layers in it. Using arcmap 10.7.1. When I import as feature classes (in geodatabase) I get 4 FC for the 4 geometries. There is a attribute field of layer in each of them, listing the CAD layers as attributes. However the number of unique layer values across all 4 FC is 67 instead of 103. What might be the problem and where are the remaining layers?

Hi all, I am a bit confused with user schema SDE oracle databases. Mainly it 2 aspects: creation and connection to them. Can you provide a tutorial on how to create a user schema SDE DB in oracle? And also how to connect to a specific user schema once created. Thanks.

Hi, I have exactly the same error. It happened when I did an upgrade of datastore from 10.5.1 to 10.6.1. After the setup finished I got redirected to this page to upgrade the database: url:2443/arcgis/datastore/ My OS is win server 2012 R2 standard. Service account has full permissions on arcgisdatastore folder. I have done fair number of enterprice GIS upgredes from 10.5.1 to 10.6.1 but never had this. I noticed in the previous servers there is pgsql9.3.12 under arcgisdatastore folder. I dont know when this folder was added. Looking at the servers to come to upgrade I can see this folder doesnt exist with 10.5.1 datastore. Any ideas?

Thanks. We use oracle. I also got this idea, may be slightly wrong semantics. But what would one record in the versions table with state_id > 0 mean? Some feature classes are registered as versioned but not with a child version and there are edit in the A### and D### tables. Is that correct?

Let me double check my understanding of versioning here. I have 2 major cases Case 1: only one record in the sde.versions table with two subcases 1.1: state_id = 0 and 1.2 state_id > 0. Case 2 more than one records in the sde.versions table with state_id > 0 for each of them What I think this means is that one can have versioned data in the default version (case 1) with numerous states ( = additions/deletions). Also there can be other versions children to default (most simple case) with numerous states. Is that correct? What happens when the DB is compressed?
