Hello Malcolm You can publish from a workgroup geodatabase to ArcGIS Online but the data would be published as a hosted feature service. This would mean a copy of your data would be hosted in ArcGIS Online. Any edits made to the feature service would only be applied to hosted data in ArcGIS Online. Is your aim to push edits back to your workgroup geodatabase? What RDBMS system are using with your workgroup geodatabase (e.g SQL, Postgre, Oracle etc.)? If you want to push edits back to your workgroup geodatabase you would have to registered it as a data source with ArcGIS Server. You could then publish a registered feature service to Portal. Any edits made to the feature service would be applied to the workgroup geodatabase. I've provided a link to data requirements for Collector and publishing a feature service with a workgroup geodatabase below: Collector for ArcGIS - What are the requirements? ArcGIS Server - Prepare data to publish a feature service The limit for 10 simultaneous connections may be your biggest hurdle. For example a registered feature service with a minimum instance of 1 would require an active connection to the database. So you might hit this limit pretty quickly. To my knowledge views are restricted to a hosted feature services, both in Portal and ArcGIS Online. Again the data would be hosted in ArcGIS Online or Portal. I don't believe it's possible to create a view from a registered feature service. I've provided links regarding creating a hosted feature service views in Portal and ArcGIS Online below: ArcGIS Online - Create hosted feature layer views Portal for ArcGIS - Create hosted feature layer views Hope this helps if you have any additional questions please let me know! Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Erika, Thanks for the update and additional info. As you may have discussed with support it can often be difficult to troubleshoot intermittent issues. Interesting so it sounds like this issue may be focused more on hosted services. In general I tend to see more issues with registered feature services. Mainly because there are more moving parts involved. If you do want to troubleshoot further which I understand isn't easy with internment behavior. I would recommend separating the non-hosted and registered service intos separate web maps. This may help isolate the behavior to ArcGIS Online or Enterprise. If the failure occurs again I would also recommend reviewing the ArcGIS Server logs at 'DEBUG' level in combination with the Collector logs. If you do have ArcGIS Server logs I would be happy to review those. To really isolate the cause you'd likely need to try and gather network traffic from Collector when the sync fails. Which of course isn't so easy with intermittent behavior. If you have any additional questions please let me know. Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Erica, Thank you for attaching the error message is 'Mobile_Update_Only' the only feature service used in the Web Map? I can definitely provide some general troubleshooting advise. If you have the option you may want to create a support case to troubleshoot this issue further. With intermittent issues like this it's always important to try and establish a pattern of behavior. Is there any correlation between what network you use (e.g. WiFi, LTE, Internal Network) and the sync failure? Is there any interruption or drop in network connectivity during the sync process? Is the behavior restricted to a specific users or devices? Is the behavior restricted to a specific web map or hosted feature service? If the issue is reproducible you may also wanted to test with a different hosted feature service. This may help rule out any data related issues. Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Andrew, When your users attempt to access web app are they prompted for ArcGIS Online or Portal credentials? I would recommend double checking all the web app content and the web map itself are shared with 'everyone'. Are all services in the web map coming from the federated ArcGIS Server? If you are using Esri basemaps it's possible the users are being prompted for ArcGIS Online credentials for the basemap. If that is the case it's possible to add the basemaps as an item to Portal and save credentials with the item. Portal for ArcGIS - Customize basemaps: Create and share basemaps. Hope this helps! Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Michael, I'm not aware of any documentation regarding the Windows paging file and ArcGIS Data Store. I've seen the ArcGIS Data Store change to read-only mode before when other applications are writing to the same drive. Either temporarily or permanently reducing the available disk space. Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Julian, Not to my knowledge, do you know what the available disk space was on the 😧 drive before you deleted the hosted feature service? Is the 'arcgisportal' portal directory and install directory also located on the 😧 drive? If it occurs again I would recommend reviewing portal logs (DEBUG) and the data store logs. Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Erika, Have any changes been made to the web map or feature service schema? If web map or schema changes are made while the web map if offline on your mobile device this can cause sync issues. Are you logging into Collector via ArcGIS Online or Portal? If you are using Portal I would recommend reviewing the Portal and ArcGIS Server logs at 'DEBUG' level after you attempt to sync. Collector for ArcGIS 19.1.0 (iOS) does have some in built logging functionality. I would also recommend reviewing the Collector logs after attempting to sync. Launch Collector for ArcGIS and sign in to either ArcGIS Online or ArcGIS Enterprise. On the top left (if using an iOS device), click the user's icon to go to the ProfileTap three times over the top of the name. This should create a developer option at the bottom of the list. Click on developer and enable logging. Hope this helps! Thanks, Thomas

Hello Matthew, Usually the layer name for the service should reflect the layer name from the .mxd. Web Map's do offer functionality to rename, remove and reorder layers. Portal for ArcGIS - Organize Layers Hope this helps! Thank you, Thomas.

Hello Alina, Projections can have an impact on web map performance but it shouldn't affect data usage. The data usage will mainly come from the operational layers and basemaps used in the web map. Great! I'm glad you found an alternative basemap. In regards to Esri basemaps World Imagery may use more data than World Topo for example. It not something I've tested but logically I would think the file size for the world imagery tiles would be larger. I've provided a link below for the Esri 'Tiled Basemap' group. This group contains tiled basemaps that used in offline workflow with Collector. ArcGIS Online - Tiled Basemaps Group Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Alina, My suspicion for the higher data usage would be would the new basemap. Were you using Esri basemaps previously? When you open a web map in Collector a export tile request is sent to download the tiled imagery to your mobile device. If the new imagery layer is higher resolution the basemap tile file size could be larger. If possible I would recommend testing with using Esri basemaps and monitor data usage. Utilizing offline workflows with Collector may also help lower data usage. Collector also allows you to side load basemaps directly to the mobile device. Collector for ArcGIS - Prepare offline data collection Hope this helps! Thank you, Thomas.

Hello Jill, Do you know if the Web Adaptors for both ArcGIS Servers federated with Portal are on the same machine? Are both Web Adaptors configured using the same hostname? What is the server role for the federated service that does not appear in the drop down in ArcGIS Pro? Thanks, Thomas.

Hello Antonio, Are you signing into Portal or ArcGIS Online in Collector? If you are signing into Portal I would recommend reviewing the Portal logs at 'DEBUG' level. It may also be impotent to focus on the web map content. In particular the data source for each of the web map items (e.g. basemap, operational layers). For Example: Are the services in the web map using hosted or registered data sources? Is a custom basemap being used? Are you able to successfully edit in a web map in ArcGIS Online or Portal? Finally I would also recommend attempting to capture network traffic from the mobile devices when trying to sync. You can use network capture software such as Fiddler to attempt to capture this information. Thank you, Thomas.

Hi Hendrik, I've done a little research, it looks like this issue can occur when the ArcGIS Server Windows service account does not have internet access. Do you know if this is the case for your ArcGIS Server? If so you might want to try the following workflow: ArcGIS Server - Common problems and solutions When accessing ArcGIS Server Manager, the ArcGIS Server Administrator Directory, and the ArcGIS Server Services Directory through HTTPS, it takes some time (up to a minute) for the applications to load in Internet Explorer. Thanks! Thomas.
