Hi Mervyn, This is the response I was expecting. Just making sure it inst something else, as in settings in D2M or.. So the cause is due to different flight days or just the fact that each flight taken has the open window of the accuracy (e.g. 5m HDOP) error to create the shift - GPS image tile reference. There is some math involved knowing sampling would increase accuracy (reduce the HDOP) to some log factor - maybe 2.1 meter. and yes, all image tiles are tied to the GPS as this is the reference. Do you feel this statement is valid in understanding what is causing this shift? To validate one could, strap on a better gps device with RTX OmniStar satellite correction and run different flights and if the above hypothesis is correct, would drastically reduce or even eliminate the shifts seen above. Unfortunately, do not have the funds to do such an experiment. I was not aware that Pro allows you to correct / rubbersheet to another image. (sounds like a poor mans fix but the option is there) - like you said, you need a valid reference image. And I am not sure how well that would work for tying a shift as seen in the attachment when that occurs at one end of the flight... what about the tail end that has no image to reference to? (it stays out of whack?) With that being said, what can be done with avoiding or correcting after the images have been collected? 1. Create ground control points (surveyed) and rubber sheet the image? 2. Create ground control points (surveyed) and use in the D2M software - manage GCPs. 3. Increase accuracy of GPS Device (better device) 4. For elevation correction (one can reference a known accurate DEM) to correct altitude - doesn't help with shift though. 5. ?

I would think you would have an AGOL account, you just are not aware of it. How are you obtaining your licenses to license Portal and AGS? you would sign in... using an esri / AGOL account. your organization would be able to create your organization AGOL account when you purchase the Enterprise GIS software. If you do not know of that account, contact your purchaser of the software, they would have it or ESRI customer support. I believe it is in the works to be able to transfer the D2M license to your portal if not already. (you would need portal 10.5+)

It will always take less time with smaller data as there is less 'neighbor' comparing with the algorithm. Also, to take into consideration would be hardware, it is quite possible you surpassed your available RAM with one larger which would cripple processing time for your machine to continually swap files in and out of RAM rather than not having to. What were your system specs? what do the logs show for utilization of RAM/CPU during the 'slower' run?

We flew two areas in two days.... processed the imagery separately using D2M. Added the ortho in Pro /Desktop and in D2M and there is a brutal misalignment. Does anyone know what would cause this? And a fix? One day is the left half... another flight is the right half. why do the tracks not align? More strange is that the misalignment grows larger the closer to the center of the ortho (away from edges) Near edges the track is off by ~1.9 to 2.1m in the center, almost 3.4m. Thanks

Philip seemed to miss some of your questions so Ill fill them in: Mark Yerington wrote: Can Portal for ArcGIS use the same named user accounts as ArcGIS online or do we need to purchase portal named users Purchase named users for Portal on Premise. You will receive a specific amount for the level of Enterprise server licensing you get, any additional named users can be purchased in bundle packages. As an administrator you would log into AGOL (corporate account holder which has access to the licensing) and generate your named user Level 2 and Level 1 perpetual license. In doing so, you are given a Level 1 or Level 2 License number (ECPxxxxxxxxx) to install those counts to your Portal (on premise). e.g. Mark Yerington wrote: It is not advised that you put Portal for ArcGIS on the same server as your ArcGIS server correct? This depends on your corporate EA strategy. Typically in an enterprise world, no. You keep the resources and server specific to the software. This reduces troubleshooting, patching, upgrading and better resourcing. But as a POC or test box, or simply, can you? Yes. Mark Yerington wrote: Also, can portal use the same rest endpoint/ web adaptor that our Current ArcGIS server uses? You can however that is not a method supported by ESRI. I have done this in the past but would never do so in a production environment. It is very easy to Re-run the web adaptor install and call the web adaptor something else, you can install many. E.g. arcgis for ArcGIS Server and arcgisportal or Portal for ArcGIS. You can add additional web adaptors for specific windows authenitcations as well (this example is of course for IIS - windows ) e.g. one for Kerberos, one for NTLM. call it arcgisKerb and arcgisNTLM. Mark Yerington wrote: If not we would have to re-route all of our web maps through the new portal correct? Yep. this can be easily done in the Portal ITEMS config files, find replace...easy if you know where to look. (no need to create new web maps). Mark Yerington wrote: Also can you publish dyanamic map services through Portal of ArcGIS or just feature layers? the question is wrong since you can publish much more than just feature layers. What can you add to your portal?—Portal for ArcGIS | ArcGIS Enterprise Hope this helps Happy holidays

Hi Carlos, Though this discussion had nothing to do with direct access to ArcGIS Server (ports - which are 6443/6080 by default - if your savvy can be changed to any port you want), I'd like to clarify some information. Carlos Colón-Maldonado wrote: The whole purpose of the web adaptor is so that ports may be omitted on URLs when browsed from a client wrong. The web adaptor allows integrating a web server with a GIS Site (remember, a site can have multiple GIS Machines / nodes). A web adaptor forwards calls to your ArcGIS Server nodes and will check your site to see removed or added machines. A web adaptor also allows exposing the GIS Servers through the standard website port (80/443). Since this is a web standard, these ports are not visible from a clients perspective, but they are still there. The web adaptor also provides the ability to restrict Desktop ArcGIS Server users from Admin and Publishing access. And very important, the web adaptor allows leveraging enterprise security from a web-tier level. using IWA (integrated windows authentication) MUST use a web adaptor on a web server level, the web adaptor WA (windows authentication) - e.g. NTLM or Kerberos PASSES these credentials to ArcGIS Server for all secure services. ArcGIS Server identity store would be tied to Active Directory (for example). This means, only traffic through the web adaptor can only see locked secure services with valid credentials... even if the user had access directly to arcgis server using port (e.g. 6443 - going around the web adaptor)- they would get an unauthorized response because ArcGIS Server is expecting valid credentials from traffic through the web adaptor.

AGS needs access to the folder you are trying to register... for example, this would be a NTFS secuirty setting if using windows. Please make sure that the AGS account has FULL access permissions to the folder you are trying to register. If all is good here. Have you tried just deleting the registered folder and re-registering?

Hi Michael, Its good to have all the steps to help with troubleshooting. Regarding the outside traffic. You would hit the web adaptor, which is port 443. Port 6080 and 6443 is only between ArcGIS Server (AGS) and the machine with the web adaptor. you are saying this works on the server. Is it possible that there are additional hardware, traffic manipulation occuring with the incoming traffic? It sounds like you are one step closer.

Hi Sebastian, Trying to follow your post is quite difficult. Hard to understand what you are trying to accomplish but sounds like not much architectural thought went into whatever is being done here. Federating basically means that you are relinquishing all authorization checks to Portal (sharing models and integrating security). (among other things, such as now requiring named users etc) so yes, it would direct you to portal for authorization credentials. As per documentation, Federation is optional except if you want to do the following: If your workflow doesnt include any of those three bullet points, then I would re-consider federating at all. Another question is why would you want to access ArcGIS Server admin (AGS) from the internet? To me, this sounds like a huge security risk. Also as per documentation... Ref: Federate an ArcGIS Server site with your portal—Portal for ArcGIS (10.5.x) | ArcGIS Enterprise If you are able to perhaps explain the workflow and what is trying to be attempted here, might help for forum members to answer.

My guess is that would not solve knowing that installing the Web adaptor changes IIS settings, specifically the REQUIRE SSL setting which would interfere with URL Rewrite (redirect). I've provided an extraction out of my documentation step by step which should get Michael up and running.

This has nothing to do with the web adaptor but everything with IIS. Also, you can still use Web adaptors when using NLB appliances. Either you need an external appliance to redirect (e.g. F5, KEMP, Citrix etc) or you install and configure URL Rewrite. I can only suspect that the url rewrite rule applied to the IIS application (in this case, the Web adaptor) was incorrectly configured OR my other suspiciton is that you are unaware that installing the web adaptor, choosing 443 will change some IIS settings which the URL redirect may not work under. Lets make sure your redirect (using URL Rewrite) is setup first.. using IIS 8.5 type in the http link to the web adaptor.. get a 403. go to IIS you will have already installed the urlrewrite either on its own or using the web platform installer. e.g. Here you can see 3.21 (JSAPI) and the arcgis web adaptor You can create the new inbound rule to the site so that all child applications will get the redirect. Add rules Add a blank inbound rule Name it, Redirects to HTTPS pattern: (.*) Add a condition Condition input is {HTTPS} Pattern: ^OFF$ Press OK Go to ACTION pulldown panel Action Type: Redirect Redirect URL: https://{HTTP_HOST}/{R:1} Redirect Type: See Other (303) Click on APPLY Verify the changes were successful IIS will now look like so: Lets refresh our default page. yes... redirects. try a JSAPI under 3.21 yes.. redirects Try the web adaptor... In your case, i 'suspect' that it will not work... go to the SSL settings for the web adaptor: If Require SSL is checked... uncheck it. Make sure to apply and verify successful *** what i have found is that when installing the web adaptor, choosing port 443 auto checks a setting interfering with the URL Redirect. Now try your web adaptor link... (not even http just machine name...(or http) and you should now get redirected to HTTPS Of course, next step is to get a valid cert....
