I understand the reasoning for not overwriting map symbols or layer configuration in each web map when the individual services are overwritten (to protect configurations across multiple web maps which can be the foundation of a web map app), but I also have web maps that would benefit from being able to change the symbols or configuration by simply rewriting the service. This would save me SO much time if, in the web map settings, there was a check box to enable layer updates to be transferred into the map. E.G. I have 10 web maps based on one map service that I published from AGS. Every time I update the services to change the default field values, which fields are required in editing, default symbol size, etc. I have to recreate the web maps to reflect these changes, or I have to manually update each individual layer in the services on my web maps (which is a LOT of layers).

So I noticed the google and facebook sign-ons have been added to AGOL. Well, I don't know who did this but... I went to create a new public account and clicked to create one with my google plus, knowing that I already had an account associated with this email address. Esri made an entirely different account for me instead of identifying my existing account and attaching my google + account for future sign-on capabilities. I cannot choose my username? That's bizarre.... I tried to do the same thing for facebook and was signed into a business account. There was no way to switch facebook accounts whilst creating an Esri Puiblic Account. I cannot change the password for my arcgis.com account because it was created with google plus. There is no way to make my arcgis.com credentials unique form that of my google +. This poses serious security questions for me. I want to be able to access things with SSO from Google, but keep my credentials separate. I can NOT access COLLECTOR, of all things, and many third party applications with this new account because I can't use Google + authentication. I have tried signing in with my auto-generated username and my google +password, my gmail credentials, and my email.

Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't... either make the tool useful or remove it all together.

I recently found some information on exporting map styles in arcmap and I used this to save some specific symbology that I will need to reuse many times. However, I can't find any documentation or tools on importing the map styles? I have the same exact layers with the same schema, but now I want to apply the same symbology using my exported map styles. I tried this tool for the first time because it seemed more efficient than saving individual styles or saving layer files. I can import them in as a custom style, but I want them to automatically apply back to the appropriate layers. I use this for data that has been moved in and out of the Cloud. Use Case: I have a versions SDE and I make a replica. I publish the replica to the cloud to completely disconnect it so as to ensure security of all my SDE rather than just a few layers. I edit data in the field on cloud services. I export from cloud and try to migrate back to SDE. Many things go wrong in this process, but for this particular idea I am focusing on just quick restyling of layers for specific mxds

I could see a scaling tool as a possibility here. You cannot scale and reshape at the same time or you would have the headaches describes above. I could see a use for auto resizing tools whilst maintaining aspect ratios.

ArcGIS Online should have more resources for understanding current handling capabilities for multipart polygons and then added tools for managing multipart data.

Sorry to hear it is non-compliant. I am still very impressed with this development. Hopeful for future updates...

It is my understanding that the photos are stored as BLOBs (bleh) which should be a part of the actual hosted data store. Use the method linked above to Create a Replica. The photos will be extracted as blobs. Again, I prefer a more manual process and I trust that process more. Perhaps someone from Esri will chime in somewhere... ahem*

As more and more entities move to a cloud-hosted solution, it is imperative that Esri keeps up. I want a way to house a complex database in AGOL, including complex relates, standalone tables, and more. Currently, there is no one to edit a non-spatial table in AGOL, update related records without Collector, view records that are related to a table that is related to a feature, have a feature class with multiple relationship classes, etc. We need a way to access standalone tables, create relationship classes in the cloud, edit a table (By creating a local copy on desktop), view COMPLEX relates, restore domain descriptions when exporting services, and so on. I would like to see AGOL transform into a place for GIS people, not just non-gis users.

I vote for complex relates! We NEED a way to host a view relates and joins in the cloud, where I can access related records to a table that is related to the features. Or simply viewing/editing/relating tables without spatial features.

I would also like a tool to configure my own reports, then people using my map can run a report on a specific feature or query, etc.

It is my understanding that you do not need to do any preparatory configuration for attaching photos to items in collector. Simply taking a photo through the app tools will associate the picture with the feature you are currently editing. This is by design, so there is no need to make a relate ahead of time. In order to bring all attachments back down to earth (haha) you must follow these instructions: How To: Retrieve attachments from a hosted feature service Now... Esri is notorious for loosing attachments, in my opinion. So I have always played the safe card and taken a photo, then stored the name of the photo in a field and then fixing up my database back at desktop. I don't necessarily recommend this since there is large room for human error, but I also don't know if Collector supports multiple photo attachment.
