This is becoming really important as these views are increasingly used to control non-editable versions of a wide variety of online content. Fully support this idea @Anonymous User

This would be really useful for a wide range of map apps across the product range.. for these configurable apps as well as dashboards too

I miss read the workaround, my scenario is akin to an asset viewer, so to select the first in a default view as a default value would end up misrepresenting what is on the map/expbuilder app and cause confusion to the user, UX would essentially be poor. is there a way to just show a default text of ""/nothing until clicked or when nothing is selection rather than the curly bracket {fieldname} as described above? Thanks for your time, Cheers Melissa (New Plymouth District Council, NZ)

This is definitely still a problem as at Jan 2021. Can someone please post a link to the technical article mentioned above? I haven't been able to find it. Thanks

The Autoplay is great, and now that it's controllable using a parameter for slow/med/fast its really easy. However, the way it scrolls is quite jerky and could be smoother. it makes it hard to read when it appears to incrementally shift up in small fast movements rather than smoothly scroll. I've tried it on Chrome, Firefox and Edge and get the same effect on all speeds.
Can you please look into making this scroll/autoplay mechanism more fluid in nature.
Hopefully the video illustrates it somewhat!
Thanks

Context Our Open Data items reference services from an External ArcGIS Enterprise Portal. After changing the service url of 19 Open Data items I ran the "Check for Content Updates" in the Content Library. (as per https://community.esri.com/community/gis/web-gis/arcgis-hub/blog/2019/12/09/how-to-manually-refresh-your-sites-content ) Issue The effect of this was massive, - All Portal Services (server and imagery) became unresponsive for approximately 2 hours - This impacted all public facing map products (Main GIS Viewer, District Plan, B4UDIG service etc) - Also impacted internal products that referenced our public basemaps - the server manager and administrator sites were unresponsive for this time - I could RDP into the server fine - double-ups in our Open Data Catalog for the items that had updates to their service url (expected, but it has now been 3 days and it has VERY slowly brought the count back down to normal - 2 outstanding as-at this post) Summary I'm tending towards the webadapter being inundated with requests from HUB (given that basemaps on our imagery server were also affected), but am asking for any feedback as to the reason using this tool would render our servers dead in the water so to speak for a good couple of hours. Additional We had some SyncToolsEx issues but will wait for a few days to see if this comes up again now the Catalog is settling back down. Take-home I expected a few minutes interruption to services but next time will definitely do this out-of-hours (if at all, as I'm now hesitant to use this function given the unexpected impact it has had) I'm happy to provide more information to explain more about what we observed on Friday (NZ time) if necessary Cheers Melissa Melissa Brooks Senior GIS Analyst New Plymouth District Council New Zealand https://geohub.npdc.govt.nz Clinton Ballandis Patrick Hammons Graham Hudgins

Not an integrated tool and perhaps only partially related, but there are many specialised online free apps like https://paletton.com/ great if you have a brand colours you want to play off. Then there are ones like https://coolors.co/ and I also love https://www.design-seeds.com/ for some great inspirations too.. There are many other online tools out there (that I'm sure you're well aware of ), but paletton is my pick for easy hex code drops to easily generate a range of complimentary, split compl combos etc Melissa Senior GIS Analyst/Cartographer New Plymouth District Council NZ

We are designing more and more integrated maps embedding them directly into websites rather than creating a standalone app. This addition would be really helpful (in our case, Local Government) where we have standard communities to highlight but a range of maps/topics embedded throughout our website.

We are re-authoring our services using Pro and have come across an issue I cannot resolve. Background We have a map, currently sitting on a server we are migrated to our new Enterprise environment. It was orginally published using ArcMap 10.5.1 you can see the resulting map here TSB Festival of Lights . Note the label for "Japanese Hillside" next to Fountain Lake. Image showing ArcMap The Problem The only way I can explain it is, Now that we are going to publish our new service, we are using ArcGIS Pro However, it appears in ArcGIS Pro that using "Barlow Condensed" fonts the labels that have 'J' (or 'j' in them, create unexpected results. They either rotate (if no stacking is applied) or if stacked, cause the J to disappear and for spaces to appear. I can confirm that spelling the word with a different letter fixes the issue.. however I need to spell Japanese with a J! Image showing ArcGIS Pro with stacking enabled Image showing ArcGIS Pro without stacking enabled the extent shows another nearby label in the same layer to illustrate that the Japanese Hillside layer should not be rotated .. no rotation settings are set, but my label rotates none-the-less. Creating a map service inherits the same anomalies. More details I have limited it to the Letter J or j in the font Barlow Condensed. Both Stacked and Not Stacked manifest different and undesirable visual effects on the label. The font has been reinstalled, this did not help. I understand that at face value it may appear as a font issue as other fonts are fine - however, if there is a bug that needs fixing instead I would prefer this is looked into, instead of me working around an issue that was not there in ArcMap If someone can help, even if to install the font and see if this happens with them too, we've been using this font without trouble before Pro. Also, I upgraded to Pro 2.6 and it still happens. Any help appreciated. Melissa Brooks New Plymouth District Council New Zealand

Thank you for your explanation Thomas, this is very helpful. I'll jump into our org settings shortly and update the Region. Both this and the Sector setting (in the context of our Hub and Open Data) is primarily to, in products like the ArcGIS Hub Gallery, make it easier to find. The Region and Sector seem ideal for this. Apart from configuring our site as best we can, I would like to understand the various parts of the Hub and Open Data product better, so as to use them "as-intended". As I've begun to notice these various components of both Hub and AGOL, I just wanted to be more aware of what is ours to configure (it appears almost all is ). Additional thoughts: It makes sense for the Region to be set at the Organisation Settings. Although I might be quick to assume this should be the same for Sector, this is going to depend entirely on what the Sector is an attribute of (from ESRI's perspective). When I think of "Sector" I think of the Organisation, the Purpose of the "Product" may be something entirely different. (ie Open Data, Application Galleries, Initiatives, Org Strategy/KPI Platforms etc). Is there somewhere that might explain more what "Sector" is or means in either a Org or Hub Site context? You mention it might be more of a Hub thing, I look forward to learning more and connecting the dots. Thanks again for your time. Cheers Melissa

Hi there, Can anyone help point me to where I can configure my site (https://geohub.npdc.govt.nz) to have a specific Sector, in our case I'd like to set it as "Local and State Government". Ultimately I'd like to assign a Region (NZ for New Zealand etc) but was wondering if this was tied to our ArcGIS online organisation settings .. if anyone could point me in the right direction please that would be great. All the other search criteria I can clearly see coming from the settings I have the ability to configure through the AGOL item and the Owner name etc., but these two Region and Sector (primarily sector) I cannot quite work out. Screenshot below of the ArcGIS Hub Gallery search for context. Cheers Melissa Senior GIS Analyst New Plymouth District Council New Zealand
