Perhaps using the spatial join tool will provide you with what you need? You could use the "centroid within" option, and it should return the larger portion for you. I don't know how to implement in model builder, as I use arcpy for my geoprocessing, but there should be a way. Regards, Jim

Perhaps I do not understand your question, but from the help: A layer file (.lyr) is a file that stores the path to a source dataset and other layerproperties, including symbology. In comparison to a shapefile, a layer file is a just a link\reference to actual data, such as a shapefile, feature class, etc. So, as a pointer to the data, the source is the same and is exposed to editing. You would need to make an actual copy of the source to edit and avoid altering the original file. Regards, Jim

2 choices that I quickly come up with: 1) add a new field to the source and calculate the value based on [Field_1] + " " +[Field_2] 2) using the symbology settings for the layer, choose Categories >> "Unique values, many fields", and choose the 2 fields that are of interest. Regards, Jim

Randy has perfectly workable code, but a simple snippet could be: >>> import arcpy >>> str = "Doe M Jane" >>> string.replace(" ", ", ",1) 'Doe, M Jane' ".replace" looks for the string in the first argument, and replaces it with the string in the second argument, and the last argument is the number of substitutions to make. So, it is looking for a space and replacing it with a comma and a space, and doing it only for the first instance it finds. Regards, Jim

Yes. If you search help on “Making a group layer animation”, you will see some available options and some instructions. Give me a reply if you get hung up, and I, or someone else on the list will help you. Regards, Jim Jim Cousins GIS Project Scientist S.S. add your rasters to a map, group them, and order them appropriately, and then use the animation toolbar to create a group animation. This can be exported to a .avi file. If you need a different format, such as a .gif animation, you will have to search for software to create that from your images, as ArcMap does not have that capability.

Apologies, I meant to say that setting the display settings to bilinear interpolation may eliminate the line.

Zooming out may just make the line so thin that it visibly does not show. You could edit the raster to remove this line, or perhaps setting the display settings for the layer will mask the line? Regards, Jim

You need an attribute that designates what class or type of road it is. Then you can go to the labels tab under the layer properties, and change the METHOD to "Define Classes of Features and label each class differently". Next create a CLASS for each road type, set the SQL Query appropriately, choose the label field, and choose the symbol you want to use for each class created. Best Regards, Jim

That is my quandary. The FIPS code is the same, but the units are different. Does arcgis recognize feet_int versus USfeet and account for it? The data that I have produced and the data that someone else has produced do not align, so I am fishing for the reason. Regards, Jim Jim Cousins GIS Project Scientist S.S. I use a bit of python script and pointers to bookmarks to output maps: for bkmk in arcpy.mapping.ListBookmarks(mxd, data_frame=df):
LookupText1 = bkmk.name
df.extent = bkmk.extent
arcpy.AddMessage(bkmk)
arcpy.RefreshActiveView() Let me know if you need some more information on how to do this. Best Regards, Jim

I have not done much image classification, but I believe this is where you should start. Here is a link for you: http://desktop.arcgis.com/en/arcmap/latest/extensions/spatial-analyst/image-classification/image-classification-using-spatial-analyst.htm Best Regards, Jim
