Sure, AGOL Assistant is okay for that (but why should you have to leave the Viewer to get that info?).  You can also open the map in the Classic Viewer where the Information functionality still works regardless of how the layer was added. Rather than just unhelpfully dropping the Information section for a layer added as a web service, ESRI should have left it, but given the user some message "Sorry, this is a web service and our shiny new Map Viewer doesn't know anything about it". I guess the lesson here is to try to exclusively use Add Layer and to avoid using Add if possible. ... View more

Okay, here goes... If you add a layer to the New Map Viewer as a Web Service, you don't get the "Information" section as part of the "Properties".     And I don't see any way inside the New Map Viewer to see what the source of that layer is once you've added it. ... View more

Okay, here is an update.  There is something about that particular LAYER (or maybe how it was added to the Map) that is disabling the "Information" option in the New Map Viewer (I can see the source in Classic).  Other layers I've added DO have the "Information" section as you've shown it in New Map Viewer.  I'm looking into it further to determine what the difference is. ... Okay, continuing my monologue...  It does indeed appear that you have to either OWN the item or be an admin to see an item's usage, per this source: https://developers.arcgis.com/python/api-reference/arcgis.gis.toc.html#arcgis.gis.Item.usage "For item owners and administrators, usage provides usage details about an item that help you gauge its popularity." That seems overly restrictive.   Wouldn't it be nice to be able to add a usage stat to a dashboard?  "This dashboard has been viewed XYZ times". ... View more

I'm just trying various settings, but it looks like Administrators might be the only user role that can see the AGOL Item Usage info -- can this be right?  Surely it is not an uncommon need for a few users who don't actually know much about GIS to see the usage numbers for an app that they have asked GIS to build for them?  In my specific use case, one of our users has a grant project that we've built apps for and they need to report quarterly usage numbers as part of their grant reporting.  I'm not going to make them an administrator just for that.   ... Doesn't seem like it.  I shared this Initiative to the InitiativeName Content group and it still doesn't show up in Hub, Initiatives (second image).  I don't see anything different about how this is configured that would explain the difference between it and other Hub Initiatives that DO show up.  Doesn't seem to be negatively affecting the site, so I guess I won't worry about it too much. ... We toggled the Sync option and that “deleted” feature appears to be totally gone now. That was supremely weird.  I was about to the point of believing it was some extremely stubborn client-side caching, although I’d cleared cache as thoroughly as possible and that didn’t help.  Guess we'll just keep an eye out for this kind of "mis-behavior".
