Sometime in the fall of 2016, I invited students to my AGOO; however, I ran into difficulties because my students are too young to have email accounts. I used the first option, "Add members without sending emails" and used my email. It worked. In October 2016, I created a group, Earth System Science 6, in my AGOO. I created two lessons and added them to the group folder. Students work on their map and submit back to the group, where all maps reside. The students are able to work on their maps on the iPads and on PCs in our school computer lab. It has been working out pretty well. I entered 4 students in the Middle School/High School Map competition, just to jump in and get feedback on my students' maps. I have found Dr. Waverly Ray to be very helpful and encouraging.

Bonnie, I have experienced similar difficulties, and it is frustrating. I use the same user name and password for everything, except the t3g account; nonetheless, I write down my UN and PW for each group: ArcGIS Online, Geonet, and Developer. When I got my UN and PW mixed up while doing a MOOC with Esri, I used the online help. I know I'm rambling, but I want to let you know you aren't alone, and persevere.

Charlie, I did sign up per #5 requirement way back when; however, after reading your email about "...maps.arcgis.com" = an AGO, I thought that I wasn't actually in a Developers Organization. So, I went to developers.maps.arcgis.com and could not sign-in. I navigate to the above from http://developers.arcgis.com, and I have no difficulty signing in. By your definition, it isn't a Developers AGO. I'm sure things will clear up for me tomorrow. Thank you. Della

My 6th-grade students have learned quite a bit: how to create an excel spreadsheet correctly for ArcGIS Online how to convert to an csv file how to import the file to their map how to convert degree, minute, second coordinates to decimal degrees how to create map notes with information and an image how to save to a folder in a group In this lesson, students will learn to add layers to their map that are useful to people looking at their map of reservoirs. Please, comment. I made an error in my first lesson. I didn't tell students to make their longitude negative. I reached out for help and received it.

My students are members of a group: Earth System Science. They have been working on a map and saving; however, there is no "Earth System Science" folder for them to save their map in. How do I create that link between the members and the group location? Secondly, how do I insert assignments, maps, layers in the group location for students to use? Thank you!

My students created an excel spreadsheet, then converted it to a csv file. They imported the file, but Lake Shasta, etc. are in the far east. I looked for help on google which suggested that I "Right click the table and select display XY data. The X field should equal longitude. The Y field should equal latitude." Nope...didn't work. Below is a copy of the table in Arcgis Online: What is wrong with this? I appreciate hearing from one of you. Thank you, Della

The ArcGIS Online competition for middle and high school students prompted me to design some lessons to provide students with basic tools geospatial tools so they can make their own map. Prior to this, in Fall 2016, the students worked through a couple of Geoinquiries. Please, provide feedback. How can I improve? Thank you, Della

Adrian, By the way, I'm a Longhorn:) As I wrote to Kelly, I was beginning an online activity created by Joseph Kerski. One activity asks to take a photo outside our window and "drop" it into a box that he has created in the activity. I believe the error message was what you pasted in your email. I will find it and take a screen shot and reply again. Thank you.
