MOOC Student writes referring to a storymap exercise in Going Places with Spatial Analysis: I had the same issue [Gray box instead of map appears when adding a map from ArcGIS Online] on an older Hewlett Packard dv6 Pavilion laptop running Windows 7 sp1 at screen resolution of 1366 px x 768 px using Mozilla Fire Fox browser with noScript and Disconnect security addOns, with all of the page's javaScripts (re)enabled locally using noScript. Cookies on. Mine only started working a second ago after I logged off, closed the FF Private Window, and opened a fresh FF Private Window and logged back on to storymaps.arcgis.com (so maybe Story application is handling javaScripts in a wrong-headed way? -- they are in general different on each subsequent page, and some of us NEED to use javaScript filters, ...). May also have been a Disconnect problem. Disconnect updated itself prior to or during my browser session -- which is what led me to log out and close that FF instance and then open a new one and log back in when things kept not working. Screen resolution is ALWAYS two numbers -- horizontal x vertical -- so not sure what [...] your support people mean by a SINGLE number: "960 pixels" -- and I'm a former Ph.D.-level developer, so don't try to explain -- just have them see the link https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Graphics_display_resolution for bare bones basics before they edit the requirements page entry.) Hello Agnes, If you saved maps from your course ArcGIS Online account (user name with _analzye) to an existing ArcGIS Online organizational account (not a free public account) you will find the content in that existing account under Content. If you need help, please ask the administrator of your existing account for guidance. Adena

Hi Chris, If you have other Collector questions, you might want to visit Collector for ArcGIS. You are currently posting to a page about an Esri MOOC called The Location Advantage. We are happy to see you, and will try to help, but Collector is not a focus of this area. Adena

This looks like the documentation that's relevant. Fitting a model to the empirical semivariogram—Help | ArcGIS Desktop I'd ask in the Geostatistical Analyst space. They seem to talk about semivariograms more than we do here in the Education space! Adena

Julia, The graphic you provided suggests your system meets the recommended settings. The other tab will show if you meet the minimum settings. The "i" that you see does not mean there's a problem. It just means that the test is showing you information on what you have. Per the FAQ from the company that enables the ArcGIS Pro Can You Run it test: Why do some requirements just say “Info?” This is just our way of creating a placeholder in the test. CPU requirements are written differently for each game – some will list specific models while others only say something like “2.0 GHz CPU.” Instead of listing the requirement twice in CPU and CPU Speed, we will label one of them as an Info row. This makes the system just report back your info without testing it. Note: an info row has no impact on your analysis and will not affect whether you pass or fail. What I've learned from working with the Can You Run it Test? over the years is it's a great first pass to see if your computer can run the software. It can identify some limitations (you'll see big red x's in the results). But, the test is not perfect and sometimes will produce a false positive or false negative. Why? There are just so many possible combinations of hardware and software. Adena

Hello Albert, It seems you have not yet set up your course ArcGIS credentials (user name and password needed to access ArcGIS Online and license ArcGIS Pro for Earth Imagery at Work). Please complete Sec 1 Ex 1 Accessing ArcGIS Online for this Course. Then, please complete the following exercise, Sec 1 Ex 2 Accessing ArcGIS Pro for this Course. With those done, you can tackle the exercises in Section 2! To get further assistance for the Earth Imagery at Work MOOC, please review How to Get Help from Section 1. I've posted it below for reference: 1) Review Common Questions (Help tab of the course) 2) Search Forum (Forum tab of the course) 3) Post to Forum with hashtag (Forum tab of the course, use hashtag #needhelp for general help #arcgisprohelp for desktop software help) 4) Compose a message in the Have a Question form (Help tab of the course, provide full details including what section, what exercise, what page and a screenshot of what you see) Adena

Esri Fall 2018 and Winter 2019 MOOC News Change is afoot! I want to update you about changes to how you register for our courses and the latest course schedule. That map above? It's one of the maps you make in the Cartography. MOOC. Registration: Smoother than Ever Esri MOOCs are now managed like other Esri training courses. You’ll find them in the Esri training catalog. Here’s a link for MOOCs by date www.esri.com/training/Bookmark/P3D53EERX. Once signed in to Esri training site with your Esri credentials, you can find your course and register with a single click. I encourage you to check which e-mail address is associated with your Esri credentials. Many e-mails sent to MOOC students bounce due to inactive e-mail addresses. Most individuals can review and change your e-mail address by clicking on your name at the top right to open the menu and then selecting Profile and Settings. If you are part of an ArcGIS Online organization you may need to contact your organization’s administrator. Remember that registration closes at the end of the second week of each course. We cannot enroll students after registration closes. My advice: when in doubt, register! There are no downsides to registering: it’s free and no notation is ever made on your training record unless you complete the course. If you do not start the MOOC or complete only part of it, the MOOC will simply disappear from your My Schedule page after it closes. System Check Earth Imagery at Work and Cartography. require ArcGIS Pro. All students registered for those courses should have a computer that can run the software. MOOC students are provided with software and a named user license; the license is revoked when the course closes. Here’s a test to see if your computer can run ArcGIS Pro http://links.esri.com/run-arcgis-pro. 2018 Third and Fourth Quarter MOOCs Do-It-Yourself Geo Apps: Sept 5 – Oct 3, 2018 (four weeks; all content opens on the first day) John Shramek, who helped develop and has been teaching The Location Advantage MOOC, will teach this offering. While much of the course has not changed and focuses on building apps without any programming, John enhanced the exercises to introduce students to Survey 123 and Operations Dashboard. http://arcg.is/2kqHWz6 Cartography.: Sept 5 – Oct 17, 2018 (six weeks; new content opens each week) This is the second offering of the course from Ken Field, Edie Punt, John Nelson, Wes Jones and Nathan Shephard. Student feedback suggests this course, which highlights ArcGIS Pro’s cartographic features, is also a great introduction to the software. http://arcg.is/2teM7VN Earth Imagery at Work: Oct 31 - December 12, 2018 (six weeks; new content opens each week) Kevin Butler leads students through scenarios highlighting how imagery is used in a variety of disciplines including disaster response, agriculture and commercial business. Students are often surprised at how many imagery exploitation tools are available in ArcGIS Online and ArcGIS Pro. http://arcg.is/2jMPFoQ 2019 First and Second Quarter MOOCs Do-It-Yourself Geo Apps: February 6 - March 6, 2019 (four weeks; all content opens on the first day) Cartography.: April 10 - May 23, 2019 (six weeks; new content opens each week) Earth Imagery at Work: April 10 - May 23, 2019 (six weeks; new content opens each week) Questions? The training site includes MOOC Common Questions and a form where you can ask specific questions. http://bit.ly/2EpE3XB Educators can contact me directly via GeoNet or e-mail at aschutzberg@esri.com. I’ll see you in class! Adena Schutzberg MOOC Program Manager

The Esri MOOC team has transferred the certificates of completion earned during 2014-2017 from the Udemy platform to the Esri training website. MOOC students can visit their My Learning Activity page and sign in with their Esri credentials to view them. Our programmers transferred nearly 30,000 certificates, but some are not yet linked to the correct student's Learning Activity page. If you believe a certificate for an Esri MOOC you completed on the Udemy platform is missing from your page, contact us via the form at the bottom of this page. Please include your name, your username and the name and date of the course. We'll find it and add it to your page. In addition to printing the PDF certificates, the MOOC team encourages educators and students to link to them from CVs, resumes, portfolios and LinkedIn profiles via their unique public URLs. For example, here’s the certificate for the first Esri MOOC I completed back in 2016. We look forward to awarding more certificates of completion in the third and fourth quarters of 2018!
