Helen, You can currently access enterprise server services that are federated with your Portal. ArcGIS for AutoCAD will prompt you for your credentials to access the portal. ArcGIS for AutoCAD 370 currently does not understand your identity within the Portal so you will only see items (services) that have been shared with everyone in the organization. The next release of ArcGIS for AutoCAD 400 will have a full concept of identity so you will be able to directly access your content and layers shared with you and your groups. This next release will also add support for hosted services both in Portal and Online. Currently ArcGIS for AutoCAD 370 does not support Hosted Services. -Don

Zachary, ArcGIS Desktop doesn’t support all of the 3D entities of AutoCAD, and currently does not support Civil 3D custom AEC objects. You may find that if you demote the objects to something like an AutoCAD MESH within AutoCAD ArcGIS Pro can see them. You might also have more capabilities in the data interoperability extension to read more of the attributes of Civil 3D objects. -Don

Anders, ArcGIS Desktop only reads the CAD entities from the Model Space of CAD drawings. The entities in the Paper Space layouts in the CAD file are ignored. The thought being they are not necessarily geospatial content, but there are situations where the entire document as created has useful content that could be displayed on the map. If possible you might want to move some of that content into Model Space if you want ArcGIS desktop to see it. -Don

The next release of ArcGIS for AutoCAD 400 will include full support for Portal and Online named users (scheduled for release summer 2019). It has been re-architected as an implementation of ArcGIS Runtime. It will include support for ArcGIS Online/Portal hosted services and map layers. It will have an new add data experience that understands your named user identity, organization groups etc. The data browser will help guide you to more and relevant content such as direct access to the living atlas. As a by-product of the Runtime implementation, this release will also support feature layers shared with table joins. The map service draw behavior has been enhanced for faster uninterrupted dynamic map service behavior that I think people will like. It "should" also by that time support any newer version of AutoCAD. There are lots of additional functionality in our roadmap competing for attention in future releases. Is there something you are specifically looking for sooner than later? -Don

Cheryl, The first release of the direct read of Revit data in ArcGIS Pro 2.2 focused on 3D representation of features. Future releases will improve the experience for the 2.5D data that is useful in workflows that include floor plans and spaces, rooms etc... In the interim exporting to IFC and going through the data interoperability extension is an option for now. We definitely recognize the need and it is on our road map.

I can't say I fully understand the operation you are attempting, but it sounds like you are using two feature service layers to do the work. You might try copying your data to a local feature class for the purpose of your splitting operation, and then just delete the working local feature class when your done. That way your original feature service layers editing status would not be changed because it wouldn't even be involved in the editing. I apologize in advance if I miss understand your question. Perhaps you could clarify.

ArcGIS for AutoCAD 370 works with all versions of ArcGIS Server 10.2.1 Enterprise Services and higher. The documentation just needs to be updated. ArcGIS for AutoCAD 370 does not support hosted services like these in the living atlas. In the next release we hope to add support for hosted services.

Ronnie, If you have an existing CAD standard and follow it, you can define feature classes within and AutoCAD drawing that allow you to establish both the GIS schema for your data while still drafting like you have normally. There are extended entity types in Civil 3D and Map 3D that ArcGIS for AutoCAD still doesn't support with their attributes so in those cases the data interoperability extension /FME or exporting to shapefile still makes sense. However you can define feature classes for your complex data and ArcGIS desktop may understand your drawings. If you define these feature classes in one drawing you can import them to other drawings, or include the feature class definitions in your template file to include in new drawings. I'd be interested to hear more about your workflow and what we should target in the future to help you, and what isn't working for you?

Currently ArcGIS desktop does not recognize the coded value descriptions in a CAD feature class. It will instead just display the actual field value. If you define coded values on that field in the GDB after conversion or APPEND the CAD data into a GDB and coded domains are already defined on those fields you would see the coded values rather than the field values.

ArcGIS for AutoCAD allows you to both create and edit new ArcGIS data within an AutoCAD file that you could pass back and forth to ArcGIS desktop users, but is also an editing client of ArcGIS web services. Which means the same geodatabase being editing by ArcGIS Desktop where data is also being collected and verified in the field with a tool like ArcGIS Collector, or Survey 123 can also be editing by plain AutoCAD all at the same time. ArcGIS for AutoCAD uses a disconnected editing strategy which means you can connect to ArcGIS data in an enterprise server and then edit it as AutoCAD entities. You can save your drawing work on it in a disconnected mode, work on your changes over a period of days... and at anytime synch your changes with the server to see all other changes and others see your changes. Frequent synchronization creates near realtime updates. ArcGIS for AutoCAD was designed as the best way to collaborate between ArcGIS and AutoCAD. It does not understand the complexity of Civil 3D objects but for simple AutoCAD entities and ArcGIS features it can go a long way. For some basics you might want to view some of these videos: What is ArcGIS for AutoCAD 350? (Short Clip) - YouTube How to Add ArcGIS Data to AutoCAD: Part 2 Add Feature Services - YouTube

ArcGIS does not support AutoCAD Object data tables. The Export capability of ArcGIS Map 3D or Civil 3D to shapefile also does not consider the .WLD file. At that point it is just a GIS shapefile all on its own. To georeference a Shapefile you really just need to move/spatially adjust it into place. ArcGIS for AutoCAD is designed so that you can create attributed feature class data inside AutoCAD that is georeferenced so that you don't need to export to shapefile or georeference your data. ArcGIS desktop will read the attributed featureclass data soley in the DWG and you have tools in ArcGIS for AutoCAD to draw in an explicit real world coordinates that you choose. If you haven't seen them I have created some videos that might help explain different ways to create and edit ArcGIS data using ArcGIS for AutoCAD. The author of the Feature Service can apply Definition Queries to a layer before they share it as a feature service but once published there is currently no way to perform a filter on an existing feature service accept by rectangular service limit. What is the type of Def Query you'd like to perform to accomplish what task? There may be other suggestions I might have for you depending on what you are trying to do.

If you have created data in ArcGIS for AutoCAD as Local Feature classes which I assume you have done because you have added fields and modified their values, then ArcGIS desktop will directly read the .DWG file you have created as a container of attributed features classes without doing anything. Just open up the file in ArcGIS Desktop and you will see that your feature classes are there ready to use as if they were in a File Geodatabase or shapefile you can easily copy them to another GIS dataset using COPY FEATURES, FEATURECLASS TO FEATURE CLASS, APPEND, MERGE etc... or just use them in your map.

Piper, You can select multiple features and then using the Attribute Dialog each value you enter will be assigned to each selected feature. If you copy the actual features the attributes are copied along… You could also build with AutoLISP… I created a set of bonus tools including the command ForEachFeature, which will allow you to do something to all the selected features. Also Esri_CalculateField which will allow you to calculate a field for all the selected features in a feature class. (Search ArcGIS.com for “bonus tools”) But those aren’t what you asked. There is no way to cut-n-paste within the grid. You can copy things out… like to a spreadsheet, but not modify. And yes it would be better if the selection sets in the table and drawing were linked. You can select things in the table and upon exit you can right-click and select the features using the table, but again I know, not what you’re asking. -Don
