all, I was just curious if there is a feature that would allow arcmap to export all the information of a saved mxd to could be used create a report of all the layers and their details? I would love to create a nice report of the following information: 1) layer name a) Symbology b) Data Type c) Feature Class d) Geometry Type e) Labeling f) Scale Range g) Coordinate System I think this would be really nice to hand to a client that really doesn't know how to dig deep into the gis to see this info. It would be a great way to show them the details upfront. thanks Dave

we are calling on both a map service and a handful of geocoding services... they all show: min # of instances per machine 1 max # of instances per machine 2 I'm thinking it has something to do with the Recycle settings that run every 24hrs, its seems once that has run that the first call on services lags, then the services are fully awake after that first call. its about a 15-20sec lag on the first call on services, once that call is complete any calls after that are almost instantaneous. dave

All, so not sure if this issue has been addressed or not, but... I noticed that we have a daily latency with our application calling on published services, this only occurs with the first call on services each day. once that first call on services has been made it seems the system is finally "awake" and running properly. has anyone else experience any similar issues? if so is there a proper way to resolve this daily latency? thanks! dave

All, was looking into upgrading to 10.4 and came across this statement in the "whats new", it seems pretty broad and i guess just supposed to take their word for it, but i was wondering if anyone can guide me to more details about the following statement from esri's website: Security fixes and enhancements ArcGIS 10.4 for Server includes several fixes and enhancements that improve the security of the software. It's recommended that you upgrade to 10.4 to help protect your ArcGIS Server infrastructure. thanks dave

indeed i did. i just find it strange that it says 100% of tiles were created even though layer 18 is not 100%, or at least as seen on the cache status window. Dave

All, not sure if others have run into this particular issue or not... when publishing a service and creating the tile cache i always seem to have an issue with layer 18 never being 100%. ive even tried recreating the "empty tiles" through the manager with no success. im starting to wonder if this is a bug or maybe the layer itself is corrupt. i was curious if anyone has found a solution to this or not, i have attached a screenshot of my issue. thanks Dave

I'm wondering if a an easy solution would be just to copy the fdb's and overviews locally to each machine and fix those paths in the map? dave

yes both machines are on the same network, which is also the same network as the shared imagery folder housing the mosaics if I edit the data source in DMA to have a DMA path, I go back to the SMA project and its path has been changed to DMA and vice versa. thanks dave

All, so I have one location(shared folder) of about 5 Data Mosaics that I am sharing to two locations. the problem I'm running into is when I set the Mosaic Data Set Path on one machine(SMA) that same path is getting set for the second machine(DMA). so the imagery shows up on the SMA machine but I get the old checker board pattern on the DMA machine. short of putting all the imagery data(1.5TB) on each machine locally is there a way of getting that imagery to show on both machines with the appropriate paths? the images attached will hopefully clarify the issue I'm experiencing. All, I'm sure this has been asked a million times but I was wondering if anyone had any insight as to why ESRI didn't make it possible to publish services directly from Pro to Server? you can do all this vector tiling work in pro but I cant publish it to server, seems kind of backwards. it seems like more and more people are showing interest in Pro but they leave this ability out? almost Friday! is there anything wrong with doing what I outlined with the idea that the data would be copied over and local incase Machine A in Environment 1 happens to implode we still have the data locally on Machine 1 in Environment B? thanks David for the response Dave
