python script is in place automation purposes, so i can't get away from python at this point in time. i have actually generated the same error while running the ArcGIS Server Tool in ArcMAP. so possibly one of two things... 1) issues is within the tool itself 2) issue is within the service itself that is causing the tool to fail a) seems the only way to test this theory is to republish the entire service and try to rerun the process dave

has anyone else run into this error? we are running a python script to recreate any tiles that have changed. we are seeing this all of a sudden in both 10.2.2 and 10.3.1. i cant seem to find any info on what this "error 999999" means, and not sure about the bad syntax either. we are also now seeing the "bad syntax in request" when running the "recreate_all_tiles" from within arcmap and not python.

all, i've notice that when you go to edit a layer in AGOL that all other layers temporarily go away and you are only left with the particular layer you have chosen to edit. ie: i want to edit the address layer and my road layer disappears while im editing the address points. is there a hidden setting somewhere that i can prevent that from happening? thanks dave

so a new issue.... ExecuteError: ERROR 999999: Error executing function. Bad syntax in request. Failed to execute (ManageMapServerCacheTiles). we now get this error out of no where! one thing we noticed is we decided to run the same script in two different environments Envo1 = 10.2.2 & Envo2 = 10.3.1 Envo1 = error message seen above Envo2 = currently running, has gotten further than Envo1 is it possible that is just an instability issue with 10.2.2? or have other run into this same issue? We cannot find anything in the Logs to clue us in as to what is going on that raises the error, even at the "debug" level of logging provided zero info. thanks Dave

has anyone else encountered this? (summary % does not equal status %...see L15 & L16) ...let me guess, status.gdb is corrupt!?! if it is the gdb being corrupt, then its happening almost 100% of the time thanks dave

all, i have a map service that is cached with LOTS of tiles...millions... i was curious if anyone tried to query the age of all the tiles in a map service and return the age (time stamp)? if so what was your best approach? i guess a further question would be if each individual tile is stamped with a data/time that it was last updated. thanks dave

update... the process finally ran completely! we found an issue with one of the bundles and deleted it, the first 3 attempts arcgis would not rebuild the deleted bundle. for some reason on the 4th attempt it was rebuilt completely. this is one thing that is driving me nuts... we try and trouble shoot things for possible future events and the out of nowhere the process works. were running into this with almost everything...oh its not working, 4-5 attempts later it works, back to oh its not working and now it is, repeat as needed. we do have another service that is throwing a similar error. this service as orthos in and we got hundreds or coordinates (many of which are duplicated) currently trouble shooting that issue. thanks again for the links and help. dave

has anyone else experienced any errors such as the following: ExecuteError: Failed to cache extent: -####.#### ####.####-####.#### ####.#### at scale 1128.4971760000001 The index was either too large or too small. Failed to execute (ManageMapServerCacheTiles) running a python script in 10.2.2 to updated tiles of cached services based on any edits, deletes, etc. once the scripts starts to wait for this process to run, the above error is raised. thanks in advance! so after digging into the issue a little more... when loading secure services into AGOL the process does not like remembered usernames and passwords. as soon as i cleared out my history, included the saved passwords and manually entered the info to load the service....BINGO! figured i would let everyone know, in case anyone else runs into this issue. so i checked a few things on the server end and i had the folder that the service was sitting in locked down. as soon as i unlocked that folder it uploaded fine. it would be nice if i could lock down the folder so other couldnt access it, but every time i do that AGOL is unable to access the service. is there a best practice you could recommend? thanks dave

all I was wondering if any users would be willing to perform a quick test? we are currently using 10.2.2 and looking to upgrade to 10.3.1. we've noticed recently the creation of rogue ArcSOCS in both version. how does this happen? all you have to do is set the min and max instances on the Sample world Cities map service to 2 in your server manager. now open a new tab that has the REST Url of the service. Stop the Sample World Cities service, start the service back up, while its loading up on the REST url page continually click refresh until the page loads. this action should cause extra ArcSOCS to be created (more than your expected 2 max), you can keep track via your machines task manager. once you have more than your 2 max, stop the service again. you should have 1 SampleWorldCities arcsoc still running even though your server manager says all is stopped and 0 running....that's your rogue! I'm interested to see if people using 10.2.2 or above could try these steps and please post your results! thanks Dave
