All, I have a feature service that i am publishing out to AGOL directly and was hoping that edits made in Desktop to said feature service would be reflected automatically on the AGOL service (i was hoping i wouldn't have to overwrite the service every time there were changes). This does not seem to be the case Does anyone know if the functionality is there at this point in time for feature services to automatically update on AGOL when edits are made to it in Desktop? thanks Dave (using desktop 10.4.1)

Finally got it to work... one question... We have a service that is published to arcgis server. 1) view is created in arcgis desktop from a sql database connection 2) view shows QC errors that are populated within the sql database as client updates data 3) the created view is then published to arcgis server for the client to view. our current test service only has 7 features in it and the download service tool took almost 6minutes to download those 7 features. is it normal for it to take that long? our real world service will have 100s if not 1000s of features, see the problem? thanks dave

All, i have a feature service that was created from a specific gdb "view" that i have published to ArcGIS for Server. i then pulled that feature service down to AGOL with the hopes of distributing out and allowing others to download to a shapefile and/or gdb. i guess i am missing something, as i am not seeing the export data option. can someone guide me to the proper steps of doing the above? thanks dave

All, please see the attached image for the failure message im getting... i check the geoprocessing results and there really isnt anything helpful in there. i do however have many error reports from the server stating "Instance of the service 'System/PublishingTools.GPServer' crashed.". I have tried restarting the ArcGIS Service itself, i have also tried restarting the PublishingTools.GPServer in question, with no luck! Im using Desktop 10.4.1, Server 10.4.1, webadaptor for 10.4.1 any and all help would be appreciated. Dave

All, so i have spent some time looking into how to enhance the ManageMapServerCacheTiles process. we noticed that throwing an entire data set at server would sometimes cause our server crash so we came up with a grid concept to break up the work into manageable chunks... Steps... (running Desktop and Server 10.4.1) 1) Bring in New data and compare to Existing Data 2) Create a Delta file 3) overlay grid on map 4) force server to rebuild all tiles within Layers 1-13 (not man tiles at those layers so easy to rebuild all) 5) selectively rebuild tiles in Layers 14-19 (we tell server to reference the delta file within each cell of the grid and rebuild) a) repeat this step for all cells of the grid until completed here some initial results of the tile rebuild process...at this point in time we are only about 1/4 of the way done... Features Per Second 11/2/2016 11:11.7 Processed Grid ID 229 that had 8184 features in 4669.059 seconds 1.8 11/2/2016 48:58.1 Processed Grid ID 292 that had 21011 features in 2266.065 seconds 9.3 11/2/2016 15:43.3 Processed Grid ID 194 that had 148362 features in 5204.895 seconds 28.5 11/2/2016 40:36.3 Processed Grid ID 253 that had 128679 features in 5091.424 seconds 25.3 11/2/2016 01:21.2 Processed Grid ID 272 that had 73952 features in 4844.499 seconds 15.3 11/2/2016 05:01.4 Processed Grid ID 227 that had 29831 features in 3818.625 seconds 7.8 11/2/2016 18:03.8 Processed Grid ID 172 that had 42387 features in 4381.654 seconds 9.7 11/2/2016 16:53.7 Processed Grid ID 116 that had 33044 features in 3529.427 seconds 9.4 11/3/2016 18:25.5 Processed Grid ID 267 that had 13923 features in 3691.466 seconds 3.8 11/3/2016 57:21.6 Processed Grid ID 165 that had 3317 features in 2334.811 seconds 1.4 11/3/2016 46:31.6 Processed Grid ID 119 that had 40912 features in 2949.679 seconds 13.9 11/3/2016 44:39.0 Processed Grid ID 203 that had 12641 features in 3487.07 seconds 3.6 11/3/2016 33:38.6 Processed Grid ID 156 that had 43882 features in 2938.95 seconds 14.9 11/3/2016 40:31.0 Processed Grid ID 138 that had 822 features in 410.9761 seconds 2.0 11/3/2016 55:16.9 Processed Grid ID 214 that had 283554 features in 4485.273 seconds 63.2 11/3/2016 44:06.2 Processed Grid ID 284 that had 24102 features in 2927.059 seconds 8.2 11/3/2016 45:24.2 Processed Grid ID 183 that had 7676 features in 3677.022 seconds 2.1 11/3/2016 17:57.4 Processed Grid ID 190 that had 37058 features in 5552.851 seconds 6.7 11/3/2016 38:50.7 Processed Grid ID 55 that had 2452 features in 1252.615 seconds 2.0 11/3/2016 12:33.4 Processed Grid ID 188 that had 18279 features in 5620.812 seconds 3.3 11/3/2016 39:09.2 Processed Grid ID 276 that had 29342 features in 1595.511 seconds 18.4 it seems a bit slow, so a few thoughts: 1) we are obviously constrained by number of cores and how many ArcSOCs we can throw at this process ESRI had recommended a "n+1" approach but this all brings the machine down and it ignores any other requests while the process is running, NOT GOOD, so we have decided "n-1" is the safest approach (4-1, so 3 ArcSOCs max) 2) Our mosaic is built from JPEG2000 tiles, does this file type (JPEG2000) cause any overhead which would cause the process to run slower? vs if the mosaic was built from TIFF, SID, JPEG. Any thooughts? thanks dave

all, so we are now testing 10.4.1 that we've just installed... we havent had any issues running the process of rebuilding tiles and then out of nowhere we get this... SSLError: [SSL: CERTIFICATE_VERIFY_FAILED] certificate verify failed (_ssl.c:590) we are using the self signed certificate that comes with the server install, and havent changed anything, not sure why out of nowhere we get this error. thanks dave

Just to make other 10.2.2 users aware.... we were able to brainstorm here in the office and we figured out the issue.... we also had the "map consumption patch" in place as well as the 2016 update2 patch. when we removed the 2016 update2 patch, the software, for some reason was confused as to what "state" to return server to. we found that we actually had to remove the "map consumption patch" as well (so all patches on machine had to be removed). then reinstall the map consumption patch (we wanted to keep this patch in place) after all patches were removed and server was working as expected at that point. dave

so heres a quick roundup...may have to escalate this to calling esri support.... 1) 10.2.2 for server working fine 2) started noticing javaw.exe issue with server a) it was suggest that we install the security patch 2016 update2...we did 3) the patch took care of javaw.exe issue but a new issue was created with arcsocs killing the machines with maxing out memory a) we removed the patch 4) server no longer works as expected 5) reinstall patch server works as expected 6) remove patch a 2nd time a) server no longer works as expected not clear yet, but there may be a bug with the removal of the patch...not sure what it is doing to the server instance, but it does not like it. dave

after looking at the logs more... since removing the security patch the server is stuck in an infinite loop trying to recycle the services and then errors out....rinse and repeat! dave
