Edwin, Are you using ArcMap (ArcGIS Desktop) if you are, you can use a predefined "label style" and modify it to your liking. Here is a picture with the steps through the menus. [ATTACH=CONFIG]32328[/ATTACH] Basically you would be placing a label from your attributes on top of a symbol. at step 9 you can click OK to use that symbol behind a label, or optionally you can go to step 10 and customize further. Also at step 7, you probably want to check Scale Marker to Fit text. Also you will likely want to use placement properties, same dialog as step one and place the label on top of the point. Jennifer, I have not found a way to reproduce the problem that you describe. I have updated windows 7 with the latest updates from Microsoft (IE 11) and ArcGIS Explorer 2500 pans and zooms without crashing. Could this be related to the network that you are connected to? In communication with Pat external to the forum it was discovered that the problem does not occur when using a non-work internet connection. Can you determine whether the same is true for you? Mark

Yes, if you are seeing the response in the browser it means that you do have access to the service that ArcGIS Explorer Desktop uses for the Find functionality. It is possible to use an application configuration and specify a different geocoding service to use for find, you aren't using an application configuration are you? It is also possible to set a local geocoding file. If you click on the drop arrow next to find, do you see any other choices? [ATTACH=CONFIG]31780[/ATTACH]

The ArcGIS online geocoding service that ArcGIS Explorer 1750 Find uses was deprecated by ArcGIS online. Find for places and addresses will no longer work in ArcGIS Explorer 1750. ArcGIS Explorer desktop 2500 uses a new ArcGIS online service that was created to replace the prior service, and it should be working. Mark

I have a little more clarity on this. First from reading this very thread the plan to release an updated version of ArcGIS Explorer desktop did not happen for the 10.2 ArcGIS release. At the recent Fed GIS conference Jack outlined the general plan for this year. The next release of ArcGIS Desktop software will be 10.2.2 and it will be released soon, the software certification process at Esri is underway now for it. Following the ArcGIS 10.2.2 release Jack had "ArcGIS Next" on his plenary slide, and that is planned for this year. We are planning to have ArcGIS Explorer desktop ready for release with ArcGIS Next. This is primarily a bug fix release for the ArcGIS Explorer Desktop 2500 release that you are currently using. Q3 at earliest ?? I appreciate your patience as we work towards the next release, Mark

When you used this URL. http://www.arcgis.com/sharing/conten...800292340/data and NMF file was downloaded and you were able to open view the data. This shows that you have access to the ArcGIS online site and you have access to http://services.arcgisonline.com/arc...gery/MapServer (this url does not work in a browser, and that's fine, the ArcGIS software knows what to do with it). The http://ago-item-storage.s3.amazonaws.com url does not specifically work in a browser either, but you do need access to this site, if the location is blocked by a proxy server you will see the error that you sent. The ArcGIS Explorer desktop basemaps are shared with everyone, you do not need an ArcGIS online account to see and use them.

You can open a Web map in ArcGIS Explorer Desktop. Do this via the Search Window. be forewarned That webmap support in ArcGIS Explorer desktop is limited. The feature functionality of the ArcGIS online infrastructure has increased and developed rapidly and continues to do so and ArcGIS Explorer desktop will not be able to keep up with the new developments. For local data storage on ArcGIS Online, ArcGIS Explorer Desktop works best with Layer Packages. Although webmaps can't make use of the layer packages.. (ArcGIS Services are the data choice if you need some thing that works well in both.)
