Claire - The scripts update the underlying features in the geodatabase (which the map service is pointing at in the application) so users see the most current data when they interact with the reports in the SnowCOP application. You'll need to configure the scripts to write to the geodatabase the map services are pointing to when you deploy the application in your organization. Scott

The other way you could do this if you have polygons that represent your MSAG areas is to use the IntersectFeature method. This method will intersect the polygon features you have and populate the attributes you specify. We use this method in the Address Data Management map now to populate the Place Name, USNG, etc. If you don't have polygons for the MSAG areas and still need to troubleshoot the SIDE method, please contact Esri Support Services. They can help you nail down the specific issues you are having with your configuration. Scott

The Service, Recreation and Resource classes were added to support several uses in federal and rural lands. They can be used to type features used to reach remote areas (aka. fire roads); two and four wheel recreation roads (aka. 2 tracks); or on roads used to reach resources being extracted from lands. The street prefix, street type and street suffix are not included in the Site Address Points feature class because the individual elements of the road names are tracked in the Master Street Name table. Then the only thing that needs to be added to the Site Address Points is the full street name and finally the full address. The structure of the road centerline, site address, master street name table and other address related address elements in the local government information model were designed to work with the Address Data Management map. This data structure also separates physical site address information from the postal address information, which is stored in the Mailing Address table. Zip code values are actually a mailing address attribute and as such are persisted for such. Here is a link to a video that provides more detailed information on this topic. Finally, I would also encourage you to take a look at the Data Dictionary for more detailed information on each of the features mentioned above. Scott

As Mike mentioned, we have been actively working on a resolution to this issue and we'll be shipping a new version of the scripts with our 10.2 release. The new versions include changes we've made to improve alignment with 5160 labels. We have tested these changes on several different printers and believe we have a solution that will work for most, but there may still be cases where you need to "tune" the scripts to work with your specific printers. Jeremy - thank you for pointing bug out. Caleb - thank you for the sample code, it really helped us narrow down the problem and improve the scripts. Scott

Ken - Sorry I didn't get back to you sooner. Just saw your post today unfortunately. I don't think its realistic to think the sign inspection data will be collected using ArcGIS for Desktop. As I mentioned in a previous post, there are a couple different ways you could make this data available for field inspection. You could: 1. Flatten the data structure out and create a sign inspection feature layer that can be used by field inspectors with the Collector for ArcGIS app. 2. Deploy a custom mobile app (like the code violation app we have in the solution) that allows users to collect information on the poles and then add one more signs in a related table. 3. Use ArcPad to take this data offline and collect the poles and signs. Bottom line, you??ll need to nail down exactly what your field collection device and application approach is going to be first and then start to work through how you structure the maps and underlying information model.

Patrick - Just keep working with the maps and apps in the solution offering and you'll begin to get more comfortable with how the maps and apps interact with the underlying information model. And don't hesitate to continue to contact us with questions in the forum. We'll tr to help and you'll also get help from others in the community with real implementation experience. Scott

The order of the road class in the map supports cartographic display and does not imply a hierarchy. Its designed to support the map. The domain in the information model closely matches the functional classification of roads as adapted from the FHWA.

I would encourage you to start with the maps and layers required for each editing map or application, then use the map dictionaries to determine which feature classes and tables are required in the underlying local government information model. The map dictionaries will also indicate whether map joins are used, or whether actual geodatabase relationship classes are used. The Data Dictionary provided with the information model provides additional detail on each feature class, relationship class, etc. To address the specific questions about the _Attach tables in the GDB. These are system defined tables for features that have geodatabase attachments (photos, videos, etc.) enabled. From a schema perspective, you don't need to worry about these. The FacilitySite features are modeled in a consolidated way because these features are used in a variety of applications throughout local government and a simple flexible design is necessary for an enterprise implementation. We have also found that many of the attributes for the core features (government buildings, parks, schools, etc.) are the same; and the detailed characteristics for each of these features (park services, hours of operation, contact information, etc.) can be maintained independently and then related to the features in a focused map or application. So in summary, don't start with the data model and the details within. Start with the maps and apps and then work your way back in to the specific features in the information model. Here is more information that may be helpful.
