I wonder if the error is something else altogether? Can you post your script?

Also, try under "selection" tab --> "Interactive Selection Method" --> check "Create New Selection" If the "Select from Current Selection" choice is checked and there are no features currently selected then the select features tool will not be able to do anything.

Do they show up as selectable when you list by selectable layers in the table of contents?

Well, large flat expanses can do weird things, but it looks just as odd at higher elevations. Out of curiosity, when you open the raster properties of your projected DEM, what does it say for cell size?

Hmmm, well, that looks reasonable, although it's hard to tell down in the flat areas. Something is not coming out right with that flow direction though. Maybe try running it again.

Yes, something is definitely wrong with it. Do you mind posting a screenshot of the DEM?

Can you post a screenshot of your flow direction? Your flow accumulation does look weird.

Yes, I would avoid going the raster route, for the reason you described. I do this kind of overlay and summation all the time to prepare input data for a forest management model. I generally use a combination of the overlay analysis tools, and the Summary Statistics tool where I summarize values by Harvest Units, for instance. It just depends what you want your end result to be exactly. I wish I could be more specific, but it's difficult without more details. If it's a process you want to repeat, and it has many steps, you can put it together in modelbuilder for efficiency.

Yes, definitely. I will even go a step further and use an AOI vector layer that has an added buffer making it larger than my actual AOI. That way, any rasters clipped from it will be plenty big enough.

I'm with Neil. Why try to clip using the environment settings when you can simply extract by mask? I've never thought about trying to clip my raster this way.

Thanks for the reply, Blake. That seems pretty straightforward. So, how does one copy or edit the code block when replying to a question? Is it a simple copy and paste?

I'm sorry to ask such a rookie question, but I notice some people are able to display snippets of python code in questions and answers on GeoNet, just as it might appear Python Win, or other python editing software, and maintaining all its formatting. Is this just a screen shot, a snip, or something else? It looks like other people are able to edit and then repost the code, so I don't think it's a graphic. Thanks!

There's really no need to use python though, he could just use the default VB script.
