What type of Story map is it you are working on? - Some items like Maps (That contain your map data) can be shared and saved into a Organization, Some map-based apps can spring a new App from that new Map. - For some apps, Creating the app from scratch might be the best option. Note, some sharing restrictions apply, To quote the documentation on using groups "If you have a public account, you can only join groups owned by public accounts. If you have an organizational account, you can only join groups owned by organizational accounts." Would the Organization have an available seat? Maybe they could invite the public account - Join with an existing public account

Hi Jim, One workflow is make a third feature to represent the intersection. - layer 1 is Fierline - layer 2 is Roads - Use Intersect, - Result is Layer 3 Fireline - Roads Or, A second workflow would be to Attribute one feature class with fact it is also the other feature class. -Run Add field on the Fireline layer adding "IsRoad" -Use Split by Line at vertices on the Fireline -Select by location the fireline when it intersects the road (Tool or Workflow) -Calculate field "IsRoad" = Yes (This only attributes the selected records) -Dissolve the Fireline on name and IsRoad fields - Result is a field in Fireline identifying it is a road. Hopefully one of these works, If not can you help me understand your data better? What's important about the intersection or final output. Cheers, - Adam

Sorry, In my comment earlier I didn't specify the name of the value pair, it should read as below. "attempted making an alteration the to the sourceUrl in the items JSON with ArcGIS online assistant" ... it didn't work.

Hi Danik, Thanks for the question, As for the interface, a user themselves, or an Administrator, can manage other users Items to change owner. The table view will allow you to view and select up to 16 items at a time to manage. As a note, the ArcGIS Ideas page would be a good place to talk about adding functionality to allow more than 16 items on the content page. One Idea looks to already exist. - ArcGIS Online - seeing more of My Content For now, It would be simplest to do 16 at a time in the interface until the task is complete. I'm not a skilled coder so that way would be faster than trying to develop with my own way using the REST API. For instance a skilled coder could use the Search function to find a list of items, then pass them to reassign. Search—ArcGIS REST API: Users, groups, and content | ArcGIS for Developers Reassign Item—ArcGIS REST API: Users, groups, and content | ArcGIS for Developers I hope this helps. -Adam

Hi Kari, I may be incorrect in my understanding because I'm not sure your are working with a service, but I'll add this note that if you have a Hosted Feature service, and you have not deleted the Service definition file, or overwritten that service, that .sd file can be downloaded and extracted as if it was a zip file, the original File Geodatabase and a map document are inside. But yep, If this was a Standalone file geodatabase item that was overwritten/deleted then replaced, there is not a way to retrieve it.

I'm Assuming when you say shapefile its starts as one geographic area, then you will be adding other areas with each new shapefile. This sounds like a job for the Append tool. If you wanted the target of the append to be an ArcGIS online as a Hosted Feature Layer, it's totally possible. You could efficiently update this data by using ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online together. Something like so: 1) Open the first shapefile in ArcGIS Pro. 2) Publish it as Hosted Feature layer. 3) When New shapefiles become available, Append it to the Hosted Feature layer. Repeat step 3 The result will be a single table that consolidates each shape that was gathered and then appended. Other things you can do with a Hosted Feature layer is share them to member of your organization so they can add or edit the features with Collector for ArcGIS. Hi Natalie, An ArcGIS online Hosted Tile Layer is a Cached Map Service without a query ability, Essentially is just a picture. This functionality to query a raster is available for Image Service that are supported on ArcGIS Server Image Server extension The Configure pop-ups for imagery workflow here would then apply. On this note, we don't have to step out of ArcGIS online to get the query going but it will take some more work. we can Enable pop-ups on hosted tile layers. If we have Features to accompany the data, i.e. a Hosted Feature Service Some of the additional work will be processing the Raster data into a Polygon so that it's lightweight for publishing as a Hosted Feature layer. Having attributed Soil data may lend itself very well to the Raster to Polygon—Conversion toolbox | ArcGIS Desktop, I imagine If that output data is simple enough you might be able to publish it and utilize it in place of a tile layer altogether.

This may still be processing, I would give it some time and check back in with me here. Something could also be wrong in the package or its creation workflow, It might be better to share all the these details and the source data with Esri Support and we can work on this together in more detail. Honestly, I find the tile package workflow is pretty clunky for me, personally, I always prefer publishing the map from Desktop and having ArcGIS online generate the tiles, Note the credit costs for Tile Generation in ArcGIS online. Last time I published a raster the size of a small city from levels 0 to 20 it cost me about 50 credits.

Updating the SSL of your services makes actually makes a ton of sense why you would want to update the service items in ArcGIS online. I looked for ideas, if anyone else had requested this functionality, and found this one below: Update existing item details to store credentials Its kinda vague but to me it looks like it would be helpful. like they are asking to be able to switch the Item form a Unstored to Stored credential item. I tested a Item that has no credentials and the URL can be updated all day long. Regardless our developers are always looking for ideas with valid use case like yours.

Hi Guy, Your post here looks to ask for the ability to apply Stored credentials to "ArcGIS Server web service Items (with no credentials.)" I was curious to add the following thread to this post to see if we can add to the use case of your idea. -Change the service link when using "store credentials" option The use case in this discussion is related to "ArcGIS Server web service Items (with saved credentials)": - The ArcGIS Server was updated with SSL, - Thus making services available over HTTPS, - We discussed that we couldn't update the URL for "ArcGIS Server web service Items (with saved credentials)", - Thus new Items needed to be created for the new HTTPS links. - We noted "ArcGIS Server web service Items (with no credentials)" can freely update URLs. I was curious if we can add more to this discussion as we might be able Solve two issue with one functionality. What do you think? -Adam

I like how this map is looking! You are using the normal save option, correct? This saves the Map: This should normally save how all the layers are configured in the map. however we used that workaround to add the layer to the basemap, and this save is not applying. The Basemap uses its layers default display settings, Let's save the visibility to the layer instead. (temporarily remove the layer from the basemap to apply) That should do the trick I hope!

Different types of data (2) like a Tif file can be added (1) to ArcGIS online directly. Adding a .tif file will create a item and it can be shared and downloaded as a single file. But note It won't be available to display in any Online maps. To have a Image be part of your maps online you can publish (3) a Hosted Tile Service. You will need a Organizational subscription, not a public account, to publish. An Organizational Account is available with the with the Free trial Before publishing your layer you will have to make sure your image is Georeferenced and showing up in the correct place in ArcGIS Pro (4) or ArcMap (5). Here is some Documentation to to support theses topics: 1) Add items—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS 2) What can you add to ArcGIS Online?—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS 3) Publish hosted tile layers from files—ArcGIS Online Help | ArcGIS 4) Overview of georeferencing—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop 5) Fundamentals of georeferencing a raster dataset—Help | ArcGIS for Desktop
