We have a couple other Ideas posted on this same issue. - Layer Order - ArcGIS Online - Enable any ordering for all types of services in the web map contents. - Allow Cached Layers Above Feature Layers in AGO Map We didn't have a formal enhancement logged with our support team before so we submitted the following record. - ENH-000119248 - Allow webmaps to rearrange and organize the order of map layers regardless of type. Additionally we found a trick to workaround the problem by adding the Layer as a "Reference Layer" in the basemap. - Use More options > Move to Basemap . - Finding the layer in the basemap > Use More options > Set As Reference Layer - Demo Video For any customers who are experiencing this issue you can contact Esri Support to get your account attached to the record.

Kami, Great observation. I should have considered this too. This restrictions It is documented. So yeah, it looks like we must utilize a tile layer for the neighborhoods, we can optionally include that layer and the Roads together in the same service to get this working. To be honest, I'm not sure of a good explanation why we can order the Tile Layers above Feature Layers in Web Maps except for it might be confusing when a basemap covers all other layers. This idea was posted regarding this restriction. - Allow Cached Layers Above Feature Layers in AGO Map,

Kami, Shields will not be retained with the default labeling for Feature layers in ArcGIS online. labels are still very basic. A Hosted Tile layer will support the shields and any scale visibility you set in desktop. As a rule of thumb when considering Tiles or Features, - Use Tiles to deliver cartographically rich map. - Use Features to deliver data and attributes. If it helps, I can add more technical explanation, that labels and their placement require a good deal of processing power that are suited to desktop environments, In a web browser however the same types of processing would slow down the webpage, thus we see fairly basic labeling of features. Now with Tiles, its essentially a collection of lightweight image files. All the heavy lifting used to create a detailed map is performed ahead of time, and the results saved at tile images. So the browsers jod is much simpler, Just request and display the image tiles for this area. On a side note: Tile layers may appear to be only Static, but they can be configured to display popups from existing feature layers. -Adam

Hello Ahmad, It does not look like that URL within these types of ArcGIS online Items are is editable in anyway. I attempted making a URL alteration to the items JSON with ArcGIS online assistant, It said the operation was not supported, and when proceeding it still wouldn't let me, It reverted back to normal. It makes sense to me as the item has a dependent component on the Utilities services, so making alterations might break the items entirely. Creating a item pointing to a service seems to be easy enough, I think that's the best way to go about adding entirely new services as items in ArcGIS online. If it's possible to overwrite your services that might be a cleaner way to maintain the URL and any items and maps that currently exist that use them, It would avoid the need to perform this task altogether. Hope this helps. -Adam

Hello Kamille, I ran into this same issue when publishing the Atlanta street data from Geocoding sample in ArcTutor. This dataset look to be very similar to yours, where each street segment is its very own feature. ArcGIS online has less powerful labeling options compared to ArcGIS desktop. I think you could resolve this issue a couple different ways. 1) Run a dissolve on the streets layer to be labeled, this will provide less features to label in ArcGIS online. 2) Publish the layer as a Hosted Tile layer, when the tiles are generated this way they will preserve the labels as placed in ArcGIS Desktop. Because the tile methodology will be fast and preserve the cartographic quality we achieved using the desktop software its a good option for creating basemap or contextual layers . Hope this helps! -Adam

Hi Kelly I'm Adam I work with the support team. Here is our Contact information if you wanted to get a ticket opened with us. Some things that might help troubleshoot in the meantime: 1) Is this a Trial Licence or has the licence expired? - The My Esri web page can identify the status of your licences, and Customer service can help provision a new licence if needed. 2) Could this be a problem where the client cannot access the portal, I.e. an issue where the user who is attempting to sign into Drone2Map is outside of your network using Portal. - A simple test is to Install Drone2map and sign in on the same computer where the licence was originally assigned. - Note doing the install from the main product page will ensure your testing the latest version. 3) We can try to Unassigned the license then assign the licence to another user to test. I hope something here helps! -Adam

ArcGIS online Hosted Services support hatch fill, but don't have a interface for applying them, As @simo xu says the simplest way to apply them is pre publishing in ArcGIS Desktop. If you are familiar with working in the admin rest endpoint of your service you can actually alter the layers drawing information via Update Definition, See example 3 in the Update Definition (Feature Layer), When setting the fill "style" use "esriSFSForwardDiagonal" to create a fill. It took me several tries to get the syntax right, so publishing with a Hatch fill would have actually saved me time. -Adam

Hello David, We have documentation on how to configure Portal for ArcGIS with Azure AD: - http://enterprise.arcgis.com/en/portal/latest/administer/windows/configure-azure-active-directory.htm This looks like the Documentation from the Azure side of things: - https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/azure/active-directory/saas-apps/arcgisenterprise-tutorial I've not actually set this up on my own but potentially someone in the community has and can share the experience had on this thread. Hope this helps! - Adam

Thanks Rupert, That defect is now logged. I'll add this note to the thread that for any customers who are experiencing this issue you can contact Esri Support to get your account attached to the following record: BUG-000119159 - Safari browser on Iphone 10 displays the Shortlist application on a quarter of the screen when the user is previously signed into ArcGIS online and opens the URL Note: This issue only presents itself for Organizational users who have signed into your ArcGIS Online portal, thus Public viewers of your Shortlists Apps should not be encountering this issue. The workaround for this problem is to sign out from ArcGIS.com before opening the link. Cheers -Adam

Hi Rupert, I was working with Amanda on a support ticket, We couldn't reproduce at first either, but investigating further with her, we found the issue was only occurring on the Iphone 10 when URL was opened in safari when they had an active sign in with an enterprise login. The issue was not occuring when completely signed out and accessing the public facing Url.

Hi Cody, So, Google maps is generally a web-based application that consumes web-based services, to that note, ArcGIS online is itself web-based application and can also create some like with the Web AppBuilder, these web-apps consume web-based service like the Esri Basemaps, or ArcGIS online Hosted layers. With a free public ArcGIS online account you have access to some application and could use Feature collections that get stored in a Web Maps, but they can be limited, so getting a very detailed map along with using Web AppBuilder would need to utilize a service base that comes with a Full ArcGIS Online subscription. Going primarily offline, there are non-web-based solutions for mapping, for instance ArcGIS Desktop and the File geodatabase is a primary product Esri offers for your PC, in my opinion the bread and butter of mapping with Esri software. But It’s hard to put your bread and butter in your pocket and carry that around. Esri offers a Developer platform for coders to develop apps, for instance a coder can use the ArcGIS runtime SDK and can develop an application that uses a “Map package” that can be created with ArcGIS Desktop. Either road you take is going to lead you through either Online Service or a GIS Desktop platform. Pardon the plug here but getting in contact with a Esri sales rep is a good way to open this discussion to explore if any Esri products suit your needs. I hope this helps.

Hi Paul, We had this issue in a support case recently similar to this where a custom report was reporting all zeros for the custom variables. We found the geography of the custom BDS layer did not cover the geography of the reports input layer. We resolved the issue by: 1) Opening the default Business Analyst mxd 2) Using Custom Data Setup. 3) Selecting to Create a BDS layer using the Standard Business Analyst data. 4) Select the base Geography, such as Block Groups (Note each layer has different variables and geographies.) 5) On the Create custom variables option, we can create new ones or load existing ones. 6) Run to completion. It's important to note that custom variables in the the output BDS layer are calculated from the input "Standard Business Analyst data" so the "Standard" source needs to contain the variables needed. It was also important to note the Geography of the custom bds also needs to be valid for any subsequent reported areas. I hope this helps! Give me a holler back if you still have any questions. Cheers, Adam, Esri Support Services
