Hi Kelly: It is the new Image Service I published that disappears when zooming in beyond L19. The two imagery basemaps (one with labels and one without) that Esri publishes will zoom in beyond L19 but it's just faking the zoom, which is fine. I mean, it's not increasing the image resolution, just some type of resampling, correct? That's what I want my published layer to do, to zoom in beyond L19 using a dynamic layer just so the imagery stays there, even if dithered beyond recognition 😉 I typically use the Streets basemap or the Esri Imagery. However, I believe the Esri is at 12"/pix? and we're down at 6" so... Sorry for the delay, I thought I had posted this but when I checked, I had to recover the post from 11/22. Didn't realize I've sat on this for a month. But I just stood up a 10.5 stand alone Image server so I'm ready to get back to solving this. Thank https://community.esri.com/community/gis/enterprise-gis/arcgis-image-server?sr=search&searchId=15c5f7e7-b07b-4173-9073-5d7c57ea2577&searchIndex=3

Ahh, slap upside the head... No, I've been in ArcMap. I've been bitten this way more than once, you'd think I'd remember. But no, there it is.... I just went through this with the newer Xray. Well, not just, been at least 6 months. 2 weeks is my memory limit (probably more like 2 hours these days.) Thanks! Seems fine in 10.4.1, thanks! I did modify the config.xml to show 10.4 but I bet that wasn't necessary. We have hundreds of old mxds floating around. Some of our Analysts have been here ~25 years. We came out of the City and they had an Esri user number in the top 10 (well... they still do) so the history of GIS here goes way back. But we had to get a new Esri cust #. I lobbied for 7B but... I'm moving us toward Portal, Water Solutions, etc... and some data structure changes. So being able to seamlessly move folks' mxds to the new layouts will help maintain goodwill. Otherwise, we get the normal IT reputation of forcing changes on people, sorry, yes you do have to create that all over! This tool will help a lot. I've written simpler scripts that will deal with simple cases and walk folders but I like having the toolbar and training the end user so as they find that folder of 50 old maps that they just have to have, they can do it themselves. Or at least we can do it for them in a consistent manner. Many thanks and happy holidays.

Ahh, slap upside the head... No, I've been in ArcCatalog. I've been bitten this way more than once, you'd think I'd remember. There it is.... I just went through this with the newer Xry. Well, not just, been at least 6 months. 2 weeks is my memory limit (probably more like 2 hours these days.) Thanks! I'll give it a test in 10.4.1 and see how it goes. I haven't installed 10.5 yet but will be soon. Too many new Portal things to not jump to 10.5 I'm working on the Image Server first. Any day now... EDIT: seems fine in 10.4.1, thanks!

Hi Rebecca: The LocalGov toolbar I referred to was the item in your 10/28/15 update: New tool "Set Map Data Sources" I've looked at that and it seems useful but not as in depth as your tool. I'm trying to get your toolbar to work in 10.4.1 but so far no luck. I changed the config.xml to version 10.4, looks like that's the only change to the source that is needed? I rebuild the addin, and it acts like it is adding the toolbar to my system but then it doesn't show up in my toolbars (via Customize) I've seen this issue before with other addins and have had to try to add them in as many different ways as I can think of (double clicking the addin file, going to customize, etc...) So far, no luck though. Any ideas? Thanks

Was starting to work on just such a tool and thought, this must have been done by someone! Great! And thanks for sharing the source. Nice code BTW How about working with 10.4.1 or even (now) 10.5? I'm going to try it on 10.4.1 and will report back. Have you had a chance to work with the toolbar provided by LocalGov? Any comments on how that compares? Thanks again for this! This really belongs on GitHub (I think that has preceded ArcScript hasn't it?)

Gideon, I think you are referring to the database version? This issue came up for us yesterday but in reverse. Our research indicated what Derek has said. Our Oracle EGDB is still at 10.0. (We are migrating.) One editor was hitting it with 10.4.1 ArcMap. I believe the Esri compatibility charts show 10.4.1 was marked as backwards only to 10.1 Strange things can possibly happen. You might get away with it and then down the road you might discover that it was a real mistake. Why risk it. And I strongly echo Derek (not that he needs it), get those 10.0 desktops gone. One major issue: Editor Tracking really needs at least 10.1

There is a third party tool from GeoJobe that will do what you want. Geo-Jobe Mapfolio I have not used this.

I've been struggling with the hyperlinks via a Python scriplet showing up in Portal. I don't think they flow through and I'm deluding myself that I have done it in the past. I think the only way is via a customized pop-up. But if I understand you, this is not working for you unless you meet those conditions from Esri?

Is this AGOL? In Portal 10.4.1, the Pop Up media is only an image or a chart at this version. Feature Services or Map Services? I've done this with a map service and the Layer Properties > Display tab and hyperlinks. I wrote a python scriplet to pop up a URL to as-builts in our document imaging system. It's been awhile since I've done that, published the mxd and tested it in portal but my recollection is it worked fine.

What happens when you put Portal into "Allow access to the portal through HTTPS only." I believe without that setting, most pages that do not require HTTPS (such as login) will redirect to HTTP. Perhaps the following will spark an idea: I have had an issue with a problem that is sort of the reverse of this. I was in Allow HTTPS only mode and turned it off. Portal then would redirect to HTTP for most of the web pages but I kept getting an error that HTTPS was required. In that situation, my IIS SSL settings were set to SSL Required. I turned it off and was back to a mixed mode Portal that worked as expected.

Peter, When you say: turn on demand caching I assume you mean in Service Editor> Caching> Advanced Click the Create Tiles on Demand Correct ? How about combining dynamic layers with a tiled cache for an Image Service. This would be like what's described for a map service: http://server.arcgis.com/en/server/10.5/publish-services/windows/enabling-dynamic-layers-on-a-map-service-in-arcgis-for-desktop.htm Thanks....

Hi Kelly: How about under Portal and with an Image Server service? I recently published our 2016 ortho-imagery to an Image Service on a 10.4.1 AGS box. Then shared that to our portal. But that image service then doesn't display below level 19 (1:1128) The Esri imagery basemaps do show down below Level 19, but they aren't tiled there, it's just resampling, correct?Which is fine.... Basically, what I need to do is: Displaying Dynamic and Tiled layers But that details for the map service method and not the image service. Is there a similar page out there? No luck with Goggle or Geo-Net yet.

Given the new user levels in Portal 10.5: http://server.arcgis.com/en/portal/10.5/administer/windows/roles.htm Two questions: Is it correct that a viewer, level 1, still requires a named user account? Are the licensing costs going to change based on the number of named users at each Level? Thanks dlaw-esristaff ?

Hey Jonathan: Unfortunately, I'm not receiving any other than a generic 403 error. I have not found the time yet to try to see if this IIS driven. (or hook up Fiddler to see the traffic) but I did look at the built in IE F12 tools and all I'm seeing there is just 403. I'll try to create a new virtual directory and see what happens. Edit: So, yes Jonathan, I believe you are correct, this is an IIS issue. When going to a new site as http, I get a 403.4 error. Both the default web site and the two WA sites (Portal and Server) have Require SSL set in IIS. What I don't recall, is if I did this or if it is done automatically during the installation. I believe it happens during the IIS setup in the Chef cookbooks but I could have just as easily done it by hand. Or does it get set when you bind the CA Cert to the website? Removing the "Require SSL" in IIS (Default, Portal and Server) fixes the issue and once again allows for an HTTP/HTTPS portal. Thanks! One question: if I re-enable "Allow access to the portal through HTTPS only." via My Organization>Edit Settings>Security Do I need to reset "Require SSL" in IIS? My recollection is that this was needed originally to make things work correctly with HTTPS only? I checked and just checking that box in Portal does not set the flag in IIS. I guess the question is, when is this setting in IIS required? Will that override the settings in Portal and AGS? I would think so, if going through the WA.
