We recently obtained new imagery for my county and they delivered the images as tiles. There are around 1000 tiles for a 180 square mile county. I created a mosaic dataset, loaded the tiles into that dataset. The first problem I ran into was that only 20 tiles of the imagery were showing at any given time. I found out that was caused by a setting in the layers properties "Maximum Number of Rasters Per Mosaic Dataset." It was initially set to 20. So I bumped that up to 1000. At that point, the entire county would draw, but it was cripplingly slow. It took around 5 minutes to draw the county. I then ran the tools to build pyramids and overviews, however nothing has helped. The performance is awful and basically unusable. I know that what I am seeking to do is possible because my county has a 2016 and 2012 imagery that loads the entire county and works great. I'm just trying to turn this imagery into the same thing so we can roll it out to the rest of our county. I currently have a support call with both ESRI and the Imagery company but both calls have gotten nowhere, so I figured I would try here while I wait on responses from the support agents.

The only real rule I have is that I would like it to follow the general outline of the feature. So for instance wherever a feature was split by a road, that would be closed by a line connecting the two nearest polygon parts. See the red lines in the image below:

Here is a screenshot to show the data I am working with: These gaps are road right of ways that I would like to fill in. However since there are multiple polygons, I don't know of an easy way to fill in these holes and still keep the polygon boundary integrity in tact. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Here are the values and drawing in ArcPro: Here is the same thing done in ArcMap: I hope I'm missing something obvious, but I've been trying for an hour now and can't figure it out. I'll also attach the traverse files from ArcMap and ArcPro.

I realize this is probably a dumb question, but that's never stopped me before, so here we go. I have set up versioning to allow for two editors to make updates to the parcel layer simultaneously. That works great. However, once I've reconciled and posted both versions to default, that still leaves both editors looking at two different versions of the data. Is there a way to trigger the editor versions to be updated with the default version once it is posted or is my only option to delete and recreate the versions?

I've been working on an updated road map and I'm 99% finished. The last hurdle I have to clear is figuring out how to wrap a very large legend around various map elements on my layout. I would like it to look something like this. Specifically, some columns need to be taller than others in order for it all to fit. I used to use Adobe inDesign for this, however I no longer have access to that software at this job. I've spent most of the day playing around with it in ArcGIS Pro and excel and I have not been able to replicate it. Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Lukas, Thank you for sharing this. I was eventually able to get the Create Fishnet tool to do what I wanted. It was very finicky, however. I wanted to set my grid up to completely cover the map layout so that it would line up with the grid index on the layout. The first several variations of running the tool, the grid never perfectly covered map frame. It would always be slightly too big. The trick ended up being to just set the number of rows and columns desired rather than the height and width. That produced the desired results. I miss the ArcMap 'Create Grid Polygon Wizard'. That was much more intuitive! I hope to see a similar workflow return to Pro at some point.

Here is an example of what I'm looking to do. The part I am really struggling with is how to associate the streets to the correct location in the grid. I'm not sure how to create the grid itself, and further more, I'm not sure how to create the border letters and numbers for the grid. I have done something similar before using this tool in ArcMap, however I can't find the equivalent function in ArcGIS Pro. I appreciate any help!

Steve Lynch Dan Patterson Thank you both for your help. I ended up coming across another workflow that really helped out with producing a smoother line. I took the original DEM and ran it through the 'Focal Statistics' tool. This smoothed out the DEM by averaging the cell values together in a user defined neighborhood (I used 3x3). I then ran the contour tool on that .That workflow is documented here. Not only did that eliminate over 900k small polygons, but it also nicely smoothed out the line without giving up too much accuracy. For the few "islands" that remained, I did as you guys suggested and deleted anything that had a length of less than 1 meter. I am very happy with the end results! The original contours are in pink and the smoothed contours are in blue!

I didn't populate that parameter simply because I had no clue how many vertices the output would have. My main issue isn't with the number of vertices, but rather the "jaggedness" of the lines. I would prefer it if I could just remove some of the extraneous vertices that have a minimal impact on the overall shape of the line. In regards to the islands, I actually did this for anything less than one foot, but I wasn't sure how to establish a good cutoff point. On a side note, I think you have commented on every single post I have put up in the last year. You are the man. Thank you for being so willing to help out and share your wealth of information! I also see your comments and advice on many old geonet threads that I come across when searching. You are a true cornerstone for the community, and I'd like to thank you for all the help that you provide!

I used a DEM to create 2 ft contours for my county. That process worked great, however I received a warning message telling me that some features had over one million vertices. Upon looking at the created contours, I can definitely see that each feature has a very large number of vertices. Additionally, it also captured tons of very small "islands" of high or low elevation. Example below: I circled a few examples of some of these tiny areas of elevation that are insignificant enough to be removed. Is there a good way to simplify the lines without giving up a ton of accuracy and to also remove small islands of elevation?

I have tried that as well. I created a new geodatabase named TEST and ran it again, and got the same message. I have come across several other posts mentioning this problem and they state that if the LAS data is in a GCS (ours is) that this could happen. The suggested action was to reproject the LAS dataset to a local projected coordinate system. Well.. I can't figure out how to reproject it. The only ESRI tool I have come across that mentions reprojecting LiDAR data is the Extract LAS tool, and, of course we don't have the required license for it. It requires 3d Analyst and we only have Spatial Analyst.

I am trying to use some old LiDAR data the create a raster which I will then use to create contours for our county. Another hurdle I have to clear is that the LiDAR data is in meters, but I'm looking to create contours in feet. Not really sure how to make that conversion either. Here is the geoprocessing results window: I will admit that I have not used LiDAR or raster data very much, so it is very possible that I could just be doing something wrong or using a wrong setting. Any help is greatly appreciated! Best, Matt

I do hope this can get resolved. We have a ton of data on our network that needs to be accessible. It's so strange that ArcMap has no issues with this. I've found Pro to be far more optimized and faster in almost every single aspect except for working within catalog.
