I would make sure that you're connected to online services. If you look at the hidden icons in the task bar there should be a little globe icon, when you hover over that does it say you're connected to ArcGIS Online and signed in? Are you able to add an ArcGIS Online basemap to your map document from Add Data > Add Basemap? What kind of data do you have in the map document? Is it possible that you're signed into a public/personal account rather than an organizational account? Free public accounts do not have the ability to host services and would not give you a publish option when signed in.

ArcGIS Online does not currently support hosted geoprocessing services and they cannot be added to the map viewer, all of the analysis tools are built into the viewer and a configurable geoprocessing widget is not provided at this time. The only types of services that can be hosted in the ArcGIS Online cloud are tiled map services and feature services. The documentation you mentioned references geoprocesing services as a supported item type because you can register an ArcGIS Server geoprocessing service in your content to allow users to more easily locate the service URL for use in either in ArcGIS Desktop or a web application like Flex. The actual geoprocessing service itself would still be hosted on someone's on-premise ArcGIS Server rather than being hosted in the ArcGIS Online cloud. Esri offers free products like the ArcGIS Viewer for Flex and ArcGIS Viewer for Silverlight which provide a configurable widget to add geoprocessing services and execute them. Take a look at this documentation here: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#/Using_geoprocessing_services_from_arcgis_com/0154000004tn000000/

Shane, This issue is related to complimentary use of Bing maps being phased out in the latest release of ArcGIS Online. Existing maps with a Bing basemap should continue to open, however, if they are re-saved, the error you mentioned will be received. You indicated that this is an organization and not a public account so one thing you can do is obtain a Bing map key from Microsoft (URL below) and add it in the organization settings under the map tab (clear the browser cache if you don't see it). This will allow you to open the map, switch to an ArcGIS Online basemap and re-save. Also, some people have had success with opening the map in ArcGIS Explorer Online, switching the basemap and re-saving. However, this did not work with the customer I was helping, it just hung forever when trying to open it. http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ff428642.aspx If you want to continue using Bing maps after obtaining your key, be sure to familiarize yourself with Bing maps terms of use. What kind of layers did you have in your map? Hosted services? Map notes? If you have hosted services, I would advise you to just rebuild the map without the need to obtain a key for Bing maps. If you have map notes, that's a different story as they're mark-ups that are native to that particular map and you'll need a Bing key to access that data. If you have a public account and your map contains map notes, this is an issue we're trying to fix right now as their is no way to input a Bing map key into a public account, however, there are some work arounds. One is to try opening it in ArcGIS Explorer Online as I mentioned above, if that doesn;t work, try opening the map in ArcMap and exporting the map notes to shapefiles which can be added as items to your content.

Do you not see this option? Unchecking that box should disable the schema locks created by the service.

It sounds like the issue you're dealing with here is schema locking and there a few different things you can try without stopping the whole server. 1. Try stopping the individual service either from ArcCatalog or ArcGIS Server Manager and then deleting the data source. 2. Disable schema locking for the service, the work flow is documented in this resource page. http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000005z9000000 3. Overwrite the service with the data you want, after that when the undesired data no longer part of the service, it will no longer be locked and you should be able to delete it. What kind of data are you working with? For instance Is it a file geodatabase or SDE?

This issue might be due to your email server blocking the invitations. As a test, try sending an invitation to a personal email account rather than a work email account. If you recieve the invitation in your personal email, this is probably the issue and the work around is to add notifications@arcgis.com to your list of safe senders.

Jason, If you use the URL for one of your services in a browser do you get access to the REST endpoint? If not you may not have the URL correct Anthony This is a good test to see if your services are accessible externally, can you get to your REST services directory outside of the network? From what you described, it sounds like the answer is probably no. The correct work flow for making them external is to install a component called the web adaptor which allows ArcGIS for Server to work with your own web server to expose REST and SOAP services. Do you have the web adaptor installed? http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//01540000028p000000

It would be expected behavior for secured services not the be listed in the REST services directory unless you're logged in. Have you noticed this behavior while logged in? When you're in the REST services directory, check in the top right corner to see if it says "login" or "logout". You should be able to see them while logged in. Daniel, S.

One thing to check would be to make sure you haven't registered it as ArcGIS Server's Managed Database. Using this scenario, when you publish, the data referenced by your GIS resource will still be copied to the server as each layer that you publish contains its own private copy of the data in ArcGIS Server's Managed Database. If you try to register it from from the analyze window do you receive this error? "The database is already registered as an ArcGIS Server managed database?" This documentation provides more detail for the scenario i described above: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000003rn000000#ESRI_SECTION1_3DDF21D6C99748179085FD64F650EE34 Another thing to make sure of is that you registered the same database connection that the data is sourced to, did you import the database connection when registering with the data store? Hope this help! Daniel, S.

Hi Frank, So I looked into this a little more and I was able to get it working. After adding the service in ArcMap, I noticed that the time slider was using 1 year intervals on January 1st of each year. After going into the time slider settings in the ArcGIS.com map viewer > Advanced options, I set the start and end time to January 1st and changed the option to display the data in 1 year intervals and this seemed to work. I also noticed that the time slider goes all the way back to 1927 but the first year with data is 2013 with data going all the way to 2023. One other side note; when using firefox I had to add the certificate for your ArcGIS Server as an exception to my browser since you have SSL enabled but did not need to do this for IE or for Chrome. Let me know if this resolves your issue, Daniel, S.

I noticed that you have these two services published to your server: https://maps.udot.utah.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/PavementDataTimeEnabled/MapServer https://maps.udot.utah.gov/ArcGIS/rest/services/PavementData/MapServer You have both of these services in the AGOL map but it looks like the second service (non time aware) is the only one that's turned on in the map you provided the link to. If you check the time enabled service as visible, the time slider is displayed in the map. Is the issue that the features don't change when moving the slider? You can check to see if a service is time aware by looking at the description in the REST endpoint. You'll notice that the first service has the following information indicating that it is time aware: Time Info: Time Extent: [1927/01/01 00:00:00 UTC, 2023/01/01 00:00:00 UTC] Time Reference: N/A Hope this helps! Daniel, S.

As for the black/white checkerboard, this indicates the imagery could not be found by the server. This is correct, take a look at this Blog post for more information: http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2012/08/28/is-your-mosaic-dataset-look-like-a-checkerboard/
