Hi @Brooks_Wilson I tested the basic scenario adding the same feature class to a map that is different than the source map of the legend. With 3.3.1 I can reproduce the duplicating legend item bug. The fix for this issue should be available with 3.3.2 (along with 3.4). I can confirm the fix also applies to using the Catalog pane to add layers. Tom

@GayleNeufeld The issue/bug most likely has to do with a negative offset for the label. The screenshot below shows labels with a positive offset (black) and a negative offset (red). I cannot think of any option that would help the negative offset placement be more centered with the tick/gridline. Checking on the option "Draw parallel to grid edges" helps if the labels are relatively close to the edge, however, it is not a clean solution. I do not see any existing issue for this. I'll enter an internal issue for investigation. If this is something you want to track I would highly recommend contacting support. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. As for a workaround, if the end product is a printed map or export for publication you should be able to convert the grid to graphics or a feature class. This will enable you to reposition each label as you see fit. Tom

@AlfredBaldenweck , Query layers as a map series index layer should already be supported. However, there was a bug submitted - BUG-000165446 REGRESION: Query Layers can no longer be used as index layer of a spatial map series - which was addressed in the ArcGIS Pro 3.3. release. I've confirmed Query layers work as a map index layer with Pro version 3.4. Tom

Hi @CynthiaCebrian, I appreciate your frustration. The fix for the specific bug mention above - BUG-000141980 - was installed in 3.1 which was released 02/23/2023. You can see the status for the issue here. I found it with a google search on "esri BUG-000141980". I tested the scenario described in this bug with version 3.4 and found no regression. Since you are still seeing issues with 3.3 I think it safe to assume that you are running into a separate issue. Here are the outstanding custom grid issues that I am aware of. The last 3, without bug numbers, are issues discovered by esri staff. BUG-000169960 No option to select placement of grid labels when using clipped layers Adding a definition query to the custom grids layer doesn't refresh the custom grid Custom grid does not completely draw when the map frame is rotated more than 23 degrees UI sync issue when changing the vertical properties for 2 different label components within a single custom grid What kind of issue are you running into? Are you getting the wrong results? Is it a UI issue? If so, can you describe the issue? What your steps? We did do some work in the last few releases trying to improve the custom grid UI. Not knowing the specifics of the issue you are running into there is no way I can say whether or not it is fixed in 3.4. This is one of the main reasons we encourage people to contact support and log a bug, even if it might be a duplicate of an existing bug. Only by having actual data/steps can we validate the fix for the specific problem someone is reporting. Otherwise, we are validating the fix against our data/steps and understanding of the problem. Sometimes this matches bugs not reported, sometime it doesn't. I highly encourage you to take your specific issue to support. They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support. Tom

@AnneRuthstrom I'm not aware of any additional issues (use cases) other than the ones I previously mentioned. Seems that your situation is different than the issues we've been able to debug and fix. We'll need to know more about your project/data/workflow in order to troubleshoot. Please contact support. Thanks. Tom

@DavidDurst - ENH-000114737 was addressed with version 3.3. The help topic Set up a layout has been updated to account for this change. Here is the relevant information.
To customize the ruler, complete the following steps:
Right-click a ruler and click Ruler Properties. The Ruler Properties dialog box appears.
Select a unit from the Units drop-down list. Use the Smallest interval box to set the smallest interval the ruler displays. Setting the smallest interval doesn't mean that only that interval is shown on the ruler. As you zoom in and out, the ruler updates to reflect intervals appropriate to the zoom level. Adjusting the smallest interval means the ruler never shows a value smaller than what is set.
Here is a screenshot of the dialog.
Hope this helps,
Tom

In the workflow you describe you will need 4 separate maps (one for each map frame). This is similar to creating multiple data frames in ArcMap. You can copy/paste or duplicate the maps in the Catalog pane.

Hi @CRose
Blue is the standard default color for hyperlinks. When a hyperlink is detected the text's color will be automatically set to blue. Currently, there is no way to change the color of the hyperlink through the UI.
If you are comfortable with formatting tags you can adjust the font color of the hyperlink text in the tag view of the Text Element pane. Any change here will not affect the blue color of the underline seen when hovering the mouse over the hyperlink. The screenshot below shows an example.
Unless you a very comfortable with using (and troubleshooting) formatting tags I would recommend sticking with the default blue.

Hi @a_bayard
By "panel" I'm assuming the you are talking about Map Frames. You can have any number of Map Frames on a layout with all Map Frames referencing a single map. Each map frame can show a different spatial extent of the map. You can do this by selecting each map frame and setting a different map scale. Or, you can activate the map frame and use the navigate tool to zoom and pan to the extent you want.
Through map frame activation you can also set a time (or range) value for the map frame. In the screenshot below I have 2 map frames that point to the same map showing earthquake point data symbolized by year. Both map frames show the same spatial extent. The map frame on the left shows earthquake points between the years 1985 and 1987. The right map frame shows earthquake points between the years 1992 and 1994.
Much like setting a different spatial extent the time range shown in a map frame can be set by activating the map frame (select map frame, left click to open context menu and click Activate) and using the Time Slider or the Time commands on the ribbon to set the time properties for the map frame. These settings will be independent of other map frames or map views of this map.
When you state "... when I select a different time-period query for each panel, it applies the changes to all the panels..." I'm not sure what steps you are taking to do this. What exactly do you mean by "time-period query"? Any query (ex: Definition Query) set on a layer will propagate, like layer symbology, to all map frames and map views. This is expected.
Hope this helps,
Tom

FYI
A new issue has been logged through support - BUG-000168999 ArcGIS Pro | Map Layout Legend Not Honoring Elevation Dynamic Range. This issue is specific to the layout legend not updating (as opposed to what you see in the Contents pane) and I believe matches what is described in this thread.

@BrettFrahm - We have found a reproducible case where the Graphics tab does not appear in the ribbon. We have ONLY reproduced this with a specific project. Other projects containing graphic layers do not exhibit this bug. This seems to be a very specific bug.
Currently, we do not know what exactly is causing this. I encourage you to continue to submit ticket with support. It is always possible that the bug we are able to reproduce is not exactly the same as the one your are seeing.
I did find a TEMPORARY workaround. I noticed that if you add a new graphics layer - even one that you delete after adding - the tab is now available for the existing graphics layer. Unfortunately, this workaround does not persist with a saved project and needs to be done again. Hopefully, this might help you in the short-term.
Thanks for the feedback and taking this to support.
Tom

Hi @BrettFrahm
I believe what you are seeing is a bug. Accessing the graphics in an activated map frame is already available. Here is a screenshot I took using 3.3.1.
The problem you are running into may be specific to your data/workflow. Can you contact Esri Support? They are better equipped to handle troubleshooting steps and gather bug data. They can be contacted at https://support.esri.com/en/contact-tech-support.
Thanks,
Tom

@JamieDodd @SeanGarner @jcokin1
Sorry to hear that you are running into issues. There are a number of possibilities of why this is happening.
1. The fix for the bug referenced - BUG-000112368: Raster statistics fail to update dynamically with display extent when using stretched symbology imagery and dynamic range adjustment (DRA) in ArcGIS Pro - broke with a recent release. Unfortunately, regressions do happen.
2. The fix for BUG-000112368 does not address your specific use case/scenario. Since you're seeing issues with both the legend in the TOC (Contents pane) and the layout legend it is likely that the problem is with the passing of information between the raster layer and the legend(s). There may be a number of code paths that, unfortunately, were not tested.
3. It is also possible that there is a different bug in the system.
Having bugs reported to Support is important so that we fully understand the workflow and can reproduce the issue. Otherwise, it is an educated guess whether the reported issue and its fix address a specific problem. Sometimes it does, sometimes it does not.
Currently, I am unaware of any outstanding issue regarding legends and raster layers. I'll pass this along to the Raster Team to see if they are aware of any issues. I'll post once I have an update.
Thanks for the updates. Hopefully, we'll get this resolved soon.

This capability is already present. The "Show feature count" does show the count for only features visible in the map frame. Here is the tooltip for the option:
Here is an example of the results with a simply polygon layer symbolized with unique values.
An important caveat is that the count is based on the features symbol and not on its geometry as stated in the help "Work with a legend item".
