Hi, I would suggest you to go through tutorial exercise 1, http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/#/Exercise_1_Creating_a_network_dataset/00470000005t000000/ download the tutorial data and use SanDiego.gdb or SanFrancisco.gdb as examples. http://www.arcgis.com/home/item.html?id=d6bd91b2fddc483b8ccbc66942db84cb The source data must have time and distance fields on street feature class so you can use VRP solver. Please feel free to let me know if you need more help. Thanks. Anna Hi, thanks for all your help.. I have one last question, Anybody knows the logic or the algorithm that VRP use to create the better route? I would appreciate your help the best Regards, Diego Llamas

Hi, I am trying to do a VRP analyst. I have a Student Layer, the layer where I Have 6 school buses with different capacity and I have the schools. In the Students layer I have the name and the school where he assist. I have my network. I was reading about this and I found exercise 8 http://help.arcgis.com/en/arcgisdesktop/10.0/help/index.html#/Exercise_8_Finding_best_routes_to_service_paired_orders/004700000063000000/ where they are doing something similar, taking the bus, go for the student to his house and drop him to the school (in the example is patien, doctor) but in this example they are using a geocode, I have already the point, with no address. is necessary to use a locator if I want to use a VRP analyst? When I do a closet location analysis just need the reference point of the facility. if I don't have the adress for the students and the schools, can I do the VRP? do I need the geocode? Hope you can help. Diego Llamas

Hi We are working with the ArcGIS Mobile for Window Mobile COTS application. How can we secure the Mobile Enable Map Services that we use in the Mobile Project? In Mobile project center there seems to be no way of adding secure services. What is the recommended scenario to enable mobile editing and on the field synchronization without using VPN on the mobile devices and at the same time protect access to the mobile enable map services? We are using Windows Mobile out of the box with no programmed. The problem is if I do the service public, everyone can access to it, but if I protect it I can't use it in Mobile Project or at least I don't know how to use this protected service in my device. Hi, I'm doing one cache for every region of Puerto Rico (9 in total) but every cache is really big, almost 50 GIGABYTE. I been trying with different cache tiles formats, PNG8, JPEG, MIXED. With the Storage Forma: Compact and Exploded but I don't get a significant reduction in GB for my caches. Is there any special characteristic of format that I can use to reduce the GIGABYTE in my cache? Because I don't have enough space in my GPS for this caches. Hi I'm having problems when I try to access to the databes in PostgreSQL. In ArcCatalog and in Postgre Program. The server has installed: Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard 64bit PostgreSQL 8.3 PostGIS 1.2.3 for PostgreSQL 8.3 ArcGIS Desktop 9.3 ArcSDE for PostgreSQL. This is the error that a get . I try to restart the service and I got this messege. I tried two things, but without result: 1. For PostgreSQL servers starting with version 8.0, this is controlled using the ??listen _address? parameter in the postgresql.conf file. Here, you can enter a list of IP addresses where the server should listen on, or simply use ??*?? to listen on all available IP addresses. RESULT: The configuration is correct 2. Firewall configured correctly for Port 5432 RESULT: The configuration is correct, the firewall is Disable. I also try this.In the dbinit.sde file. This was empty so I wrote this lines with the host name and the db name: set PGHOST=[hostname] set PGPORT=5432 set SDE_DATABASE=<database name> After that I went to ArcCatalog and pgAdmin III and try to open the Postgre database and I got the same message 'Serverdoesn't listen" Then I went to command Prompt and I run this command C:\Program Files <x86>\PostgreSQL\8.3\bin>netstat -p TCP -a I got the IP from the Active Connections And there I couldn't see the IP running host and the connection on Port 5432 that says in the fist error messege. I run this command, for ping 127.0.0.1: Windows logs: The log files of Postgres say this: 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET LOG: database system was interrupted while in recovery at 2012-04-03 14:39:01 VET 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET HINT: This probably means that some data is corrupted and you will have to use the last backup for recovery. 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET LOG: database system was not properly shut down; automatic recovery in progress 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET LOG: redo starts at 1D/2D0689F0 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET LOG: loaded library "$libdir/plugins/plugin_debugger.dll" 2012-04-03 14:48:17 VET FATAL: the database system is starting up 2012-04-03 14:48:18 VET LOG: could not open file "pg_xlog/000000010000001D00000031" (log file 29, segment 49): No such file or directory 2012-04-03 14:48:18 VET LOG: loaded library "$libdir/plugins/plugin_debugger.dll" 2012-04-03 14:48:18 VET FATAL: the database system is starting up 2012-04-03 14:48:19 VET LOG: startup process (PID 2580) exited with exit code 255 2012-04-03 14:48:19 VET LOG: aborting startup due to startup process failure Any one has any idea why this is happening Regards, Diego Llamas

Hi I installed Arcpad 10 and gps analyst in a gps model Geotx of Trimble. When I go to the field the elevation (z) is not right, is giving a negative number. Before when I used Arcpad 6 the elevation was between 2 or 3 meters, that elevation was in a good range. My question is: do I have to change any configuration in arcpad or in the gps? Arcpad 10 uses other configuration that is not ellipsoidal? We are using the 2003 geoid because the 2009 is not available in Puerto Rico yet. Anyone knows what can I do to solve the problem? Regards, Diego

Hi I have an aerial photo with a really good spatial resolution. I'm trying to select a specific place in this photo, then this photo convert to KML so I can use it in Google. The segment that I cut is in a small scale and then convert this segment to kml, but when I zoom this segment in Google it has not the same quality, the resolution is bad. Is it possible that when I cut a segment in a small scale, when I zoom this segment in a larger scale the quality of the Photo persist? Or I have to do a cache of this segment and make a service in ArcGIS Server? Hope anyone can help me Regards, Diego cut the segment and convert this to KML zoom to the area 1:2000,

diegollamas: On a 32-bit PC with a default ArcGIS for Desktop installation and the SDK for .NET installed, the ESRISignAddIn.exe utility can be found at C:\Program Files\Common Files\ArcGIS\bin. I am not sure if the SDK is required or not, but if you can't find the utility, it may be the reason. jeffhamblin has posted the location of this utility on 64-bit PCs in this thread as well. Good luck, Dennis Thanks Dennis I found it

Hello. I need information about the concept of digital signature in the ESRI products. The question is, does esri has any tool to create a digital signature? We are a group of people working with parcels and when we modify any parcel we have to create a map showing the parcel that was modified. Basically we want to put somewhere the name of the person who worked with this parcel in the map automatically. This person would be the user that log in the computer. Use the same concept as Word or Acrobat with the digital signature but with digital maps and reports The second question is, when we generate a report with Crystal Reports, do we always obtain a hardcopy or can the report be digital? And could we have the same concept as the maps, the digital signature? I hope any one could help me Regards, Diego Here Microsoft Work shows the name of the author and the date of modification. Acrobat Reader has the same concept, we can put the name who did the job and the date.

Hi Diego Llamas, If you use the fully qualified domain name for your server, does it work ? E.g. http://TRAINING19.mydomain.com/arcgis/services/Ma...ache/MapServer. No, it didn't work. I check other services that are already working as basemap with cache, the service has the address "http://www.TRAINING17.com/arcgis/services/Maps/San_Juan/MapServer" and the other one was "http://gmtmobil16.com/arcgis/services/Maps/Caguas/MapServer" so, one url basemap had the www. .com and the other just the .com, so I first used the www. .com and then just the .com but the result was the same. in the service properties of the basemap's service does not has the .com in the url

You are bringing in individual layers rather than the whole map service. Individual layers get rendered on the client as "feature layers". They do no support labeling. When adding services to your map you must use the root map service layer in order to have labels. Review the documentation on the different layer types- http://help.arcgis.com/en/webapps/silverlightviewer/help/index.html#//017700000025000000 Thanks, it worked
