I received a gdb of a water system. The system is in meters. I have an engineer that is going to need to work read the data in another piece of software. That software works in feet. Is there a way for me to convert this data to feet? I know I can display it in feet in arcmap, but as far as another software using it, I'm just not sure.

there was no conversion on the elevations when joining them to the gdb. Whats odd, that I am figuring out is that the error is 80' all over the map. The discrepancy between the field mapped data and the usgs topo spot elevations from a 7.5 min quad map. I am taking the elevations (dtm) and multiplying by 3.28 to come up with a us foot elevation.

I have a data file, with "projectedz" field, which is supposed to be ground elevation. THis elevation is recorded in meters, but I need feet. If I convert this elevation to feet, but multiplying the z by 3.28084, I get an elevation that should be similar to what my usgs quad map shows. I am consistently off 80-90 feet from my calculated elevation, to the quad elevation. IE....if I see a point on a quad marked 400', my calculated point is 320. Is my conversion correct? Shouldn't I simply do the multiplication like i mentioned to get feet? Just looking for confirmation that what I am doing is correct.

thanks Jorn....I see that now! I appreciate it very much. Any idea how I would get that to display in feet instead of meters when I do an "ID" on it? THanks MKH

I was sucessfully able to import a dem of a county that I needed. I can't figure out how to just display, or track elevations across the map. Can anyone help me with that? Not needing to extract any data, just need to read elevatinons Thanks MKH

Xander...that is really great. I'm going to continue this thread with an issue on this data. I have changed my coord system to arkansas north state plane, and when i list the location, I am still getting what looks like meters. Do i have to convert those to feet? I was assuming when I change my coord system, that it would adjust elevations too. Any info on this will be greatly appreciated. Mike

don't need x, and y....because as you mentioned I already have locations. We need elevation data to model the water system. SOftware uses elev to determine needed pressures, etc.

I was given a gdb from a client containing a water system (lines, valves, meters, etc). Not a large one. I subsequently asked if there was any elevation data obtained when the data was field surveyed. He then sent me a standalone table titled "gpsPositions" Could have have someone look at these and tell me how to "join" them? Any help would be greatly appreciated. MKH
