Thanks James Good Tip! I applied a "first letter" filter for both the NSXCODE and COMMONNAME fields and then moved those choice list to external_choice. The form now loads without much issue. It does make a slight overhead for the user having to answer a pre-question, but I guess that is negated by the performance improvements. Cheers, Chris

Is it possible to have different fill options for the same field(s) For example with a Flora survey if the user knows the NSXCODE (field a) then the Common Name (field b), Genus(field c), and Species (field d) are populated via a calculation using pulldata. However if the NSXCODE is not known, then the user fills in b, c,d. c and d are combined to create a unique scientific name which has a related NSXCODE which then populates field a via another pulldata calculation I know its possible to do one or the other but can there be an option for both. Obviously the same fields cant be in the form twice. Could this be achieve from an initial question in the Form?? eg Is the NSXCOODE Known Yes/No ??? Cheers Chris

Thanks for the reply James That clears things up a bit. However I am real troubles with this in Connect (2.6.6) It just keeps crashing when try to load the lists. I think they are just too big. I just need a point in the right direction to get this started. I have worked with such large choice lists before and its dong my head in! Any further help would be greatly appreciated. Once I have got the first choice filter working I will be able to get the rest of it going. I will be needing to build a second survey form for fauna as well.

Hi All I am in the process of building a Survey123 from for Opportunistic Flora collection. As the species, common name, genus and code numbers are large I have gone with the external_choice options. My question is this, I fairly sure that as per the BDBSAFloraNSXCode if the user knows the code I can get the GENUS, SPECIES and COMMONNAME fields to populate. However I am not sure how to go back the other way that is the might only know the COMMONNAME or SPECIES or GENUS and how to filter or populate the other choices and then place the appropriate NSXCODE. Can I just use one select list for the "species" Filed types or do I need to create a separate choice list for each field and do something with a calculation. Any pointers would be appreciated. Cheers Chris

Image of me smacking myself on the forehead! It was a Survey123 app version issue. I was using the latest 2.5 version on my devices, where as the field crew devices were still on 2.4. Updating these to the latest versions seemed to resolve it!!!!

Hi Philip Thanks for the quick response. You are right in the fact that its not an .heic issue as the images are being tagged as .jpeg I just created a very simple one question one photo survey and weirdly the image was uploaded and attached using a hosted feature service on our Portal. It uploaded the attachment fine However When I created a similar simple form using a feature service that has been published using a layer from our Enterprise Geodatabase the same problem occurs. It works on every other type of device expect the ipad minis. So it would appear that it has something to do with feature service where the layer is not hosted on the portal, but why would this only happen on one type of device??

I have a survey123 form, and for some reason on certain devices the captured images don't upload. It works beautifully on: Iphone6 iOS 10.3 Ipad2 iOS 9.3 However when using an iPad mini iOS 11.2.6 the images don't upload but there is no error. There are some posts around the web (and one on this site) about changing the image capture format on new devices from .heic back to .jpeg. However this option isn't available under the camera setting on the ipad mini devices. https://community.esri.com/thread/204578-problems-with-attachments-on-ios-devices-with-survey123-v-2472 Does anyone have any other suggestions?

Hi All There seems to be a few questions about this on the Forums but no definitive answer. In one of our Collector applications when users try to sync back to the server they are suddenly getting an error stating that: A Replica with this GUID doesn't exist on the server. Server logs show this: Replica with GUID ({B2AFEACE-4DFF-4C93-BF9E-059400757FB5}) does not exists on the server. And Error: The item was not found. Failure to access the DBMS server [ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE] [SDE.GDB_Items]. The item was not found. Failure to access the DBMS server [ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE] [SDE.GDB_Items]. The item was not found. Failure to access the DBMS server [ORA-03114: not connected to ORACLE] [SDE.GDB_Items]. Interestingly though the sync does actual appear to be working, edits on the device are going back to the database and additions made to the 'master' data are being synced back to the device. Hoping that someone has a solution or answer to this. Cheers, Chris

Thanks Phil The Dev and Production Databases are separate database, but are basically a clone of each other (the schema of the feature layer is replicated for dev to production, just the data is differnent) The Dev and Production feature services are published to the one Portal instance as we don't have separate portal instances at this stage. So there is two urls. I assume itemIDs will different as I will publish publishing a new service containing the Production layer. So I think from what you are saying it is relatively straight forward and simple then? 1. Create a new survey in Connect selecting the Dev survey as the template. 2. Then replace the item id in the Submission_url with the ItemID from production feature layer. I think I was over thinking it! Cheers

I have used the blog notes on building a survey with an existing feature service, to create a survey looking at, and, writing directly back to our Enterprise Dev Database. Its worked extremely well and the field staff are really happy with the results https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2017/09/25/working-with-existing-feature-services-in-survey123-for-arcgis Now that testing is underway, just wondering whats the best way to copy this dev survey and re-point it to the production service. Cheers, Chris
