Jamal, try and open this link http://blogs.esri.com/esri/arcgis/2013/03/19/configuring-the-arcgis-online-parcel-viewer-application/ If clicking the link doesn't work try it again, sometimes it just goes to the blog page and not the specific blog. If all else fails just copy paste the link. You can set that template up to search for other things too, they just call it parcel search. The search bar you are using is looking in the ESRI geocoder, it has nothing to do with the feature services in your map.

Is it possible to publish our own routing service to ArcGIS Online or are we only limited to using the ESRI routing services for now? Additional info: 1. We've got an organizational subscription 2. We're using ArcGIS 10.2 3. We've got ArcGIS Server but wanting to try out ArcGIS Online to host some services Thank you! Malcolm, at the moment you would have to use your own Server, this also goes for Geocoding services. Tim

Hey Joe, an MXD is the map document that you would create using ArcGIS for Desktop. If you double click your ArcMap shortcut on your desktop, that is what is being opened. When it loads it should tell you what ArcMap version you are using. Once it has been loaded, that's when you do the steps I have outlined. Tim

Jamal, it seems there are no attributes attached to the layer, that's why you can't add a pop-up (see attachment). Tim

Jan, Maybe this step is necessary because of concurrent licenses. Let's say you have 10 users that have 10 concurrent ArcGIS Desktop licenses, but your company only has the budget for 2 concurrent 3D Analyst licenses. Once 2 of those 10 people have activated the 3D Analyst licenses, the other 8 won't be able to use this extension. Once those 2 are done with the extension, they will deactivate it and the 2 licenses will return to the pool, where other people can activate it from. If you have only one single use license for ArcGIS Desktop and one single use license for 3D Analyst, then yes it would make sense to not having to activate the 3D Analyst license. Hope this helps! Tim

Joe, If you have an organizational account, you can upload your layer as a feature service, which maintains your symbology. You need to do the following. Open the MXD in which you have prepared your layer with your symbology. Make sure only that layer is in your MXD. 1) Click on File -> Sign In... (Here you sign into your organizational account) 2) Click on File -> Share As -> Service -> Publish a service 3) As connection choose My Hosted Services (My Account) and as service name use what you want the layer to be called. 4) Under the capabilities tab uncheck "Tiled Mapping" and check "Feature Access" 5) Fill out the Item Description tab 6) Under sharing you can check who is able to see it once published 7) Click Publish in the upper right corner and it will soon show up in your "My Content" on ArcGIS Online Hope this helps! Jamal, to allow people seeing your shared organizational maps you need to do the following. Go to your organization settings page. Once you are there, click on Security on your left and then check "Allow anonymous access to your organization." Once you have changed this setting, I am would be able to see your map. At the moment I can't. To be able to allow pop-ups, your type should be either feature service , shapefile and I think tiles. Read more here. Tim

Jamal, what type of feature service is that? Is it something you have uploaded or added, via a link, from a server? Usually you should be able to setup a pop-up box. Can you click on the word "UrbanMasterPlansLanduse" and dig deeper? Is it possible for you to share a link to the map or is it not for the public? Tim

Is this the coordinate system you chose when adding your XY data? If not use the WGS84 system, that usually works. Geographic Coordinate Systems -> World and there choose WGS 1984

Ivan, If you have a ArcGIS Desktop license, you can always make a shapefile out of your excel spreadsheet there and then upload the zipped shapefile to ArcGIS Online. This might be less hassle 🙂 Tim
