I'm using an Ordnance Survey MasterMap base map and I've rotated a map in ArcGIS Pro 2.3.3. However, although the map has rotated, the text has not. Is it possible to rotate annotations? I need to do be solely for this map and I need to be able to select which texts are rotated, as it wouldn't apply to all

In the section on drawing layers with repsentations it has the following: Representation symbology The symbol model of ArcGIS Pro supports representation rules and can be combined with attribute-driven symbology to achieve cartographic outcomes with field-based representation overrides. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/mapping/layer-properties/draw-layers-with-representations.htm#GUID-64834C21-E0C6-4368-97D9-5F415941A568https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/help/mapping/layer-properties/attribute-driven-symbology.htm By saying the symbology model of ArcGIS Pro supports representation rules I assume they mean it supports the just display of them rather than modification. It looked at the attribute driven symbology options [Attribute-driven symbology—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop ] and they don't include offsetting lines.

This idea is showing as new but was created in 2012. It is a good idea though.

I now need this for lines. It's also in a corporate database so I don't really want to create a parallel version. One option is to make one of the lines thicker than the other so it displays underneath. I'd rather they were side by side though. I will also search arcgis ideas and if their is no idea, I will add it.

When using ArcMap 10, I believe there are some issues with aliases going over 31 characters in length in a File Geodatabase when doing some geoprocessing tasks. For example make query table. Are there any issues when using the latest ArcGIS Pro 2.2.3, especially if the aliases contains spaces or is longer than 31 characters. What about ArcMap 10.6.1? Thanks

Thanks Thomas Useful help, I don't have time to continue this further at the moment but I do hope to come back to it. Not all of my tables are spatial. Only one is.

When making sure the table only has unique LIP_KEY values and making that the primary key for ArcMap I get the below error: Error reading OID from table. Reading rows has been stopped. Check that the datasource is valid. The database in question is running as a 2008 compatible SQL Server database but it held on a later version of SQL Server. I forget which though. The full results are returned in SQL Server with no errors.

I wasn't sure about using Schema Binding as the underlying tables are used by another application which generated them and I didn't wish to do anything that impacted on that. I'm read only viewing the data. However my view has 5 left joins so I guess it rules it out. Those are needed in order for rows that don't match to still be returned. If I didn't a lot of my data wouldn't show up as required. I don't have any problems in SQL Server with this, just ArcMap.

Hi there I created a view in SQL Server and unfortunately the only unique differences between the rows is an ID number in combination with the geometry [polygon]. Unfortunately there is nothing else that can be used to make them unique. In order to make them unique I then created a row id. I use the following in my view statement: select ROW_NUMBER() OVER (ORDER BY LPI_KEY ASC) AS Primary_Key, That is working fine in SQL Server but when I open the table in ArcMap 10.6, the Primary_Key field is not displaying in the fields to select to make it unique. If there anything I can do, as I can't use the geometry field in combination with the LPI_KEY field and nothing else is unique enough. I cannot add in any additional columns to the underlying tables as they come are used by another application, which generated them in the first place. Would what I'm trying to achieve work in ArcGIS Pro 2.1? I'm only wishing to view the data and take exports of it to use in ArcMap 10 [yes that application from 8 years is still having to be used where I work]. This may be the wrong forum to post this as it's mainly referring to ArcMap but I couldn't find an ArcGIS Desktop forum or an ArcMap forum.

I would like the same thing. I am creating two maps. One at A3 and one at A1. The A3 map needs to have a different basemap to the A1 one, as obviously an A1 basemap would be too detailed at A3 and an A3 one isn't detailed enough at A1. Apart from the basemap and scale being different, every other layer is the same and the projections and maps units are identical. ArcGIS Pro already supports different scales, it just needs to support being able to switch layers on and off differently for different map layouts. Was multiple map layouts always intended to just be used for multiple map frames? Are there any practical examples where one map frame would be used by multiple layout views? If I wish to change a symbology and I have multiple map frames, it means I have to update both and keep them in sync. Far more to go wrong than having a single layer that I update. Is their a way of keep the symbology for multiple map frames in sync?

I found the issue. I was in properties of legend items and once in that, if you change the text size, it adjusts everything. Once you are in properties of legend items however it is not possible to come out of it in a logical way. If you hit the back arrow, it does preciously nothing. You can to click elsewhere on the layout window and then hit clear selection button. Now select the legend and you are back on the top properties window for it. Now go to, in my case at least, layer name and adjust the text size in there. Intuitive it is not at times.

I have a legend and I adjusted the text size of one of the legend items. Before doing so the item heading was larger. Now I've done it, it is the same size as the description text. How do I make it larger. I need a separate size for the description text to the heading text. Is the only option to turn the legend into a graphic. Something I always use to do in ArcMap due to legend problems but something that in ArcMap got fixed, so that such drastic action was no longer required.

I take your point but I've come to the conclusion that anything is possible with ESRI. Today I was copying and pasting a text box; text; scale bar; north arrow and line elements from one ArcGIS Pro document to another and it never kept the formatting or size. With the scale bar and north arrow it decided they would not use the Map Frame but none, so they didn't appear correctly. It wasn't obvious what the issue was. That was in addition to everything not keeping the correct size. I then created a legend and it took over 5 minutes to appear. The legend had a mix of raster and vector layers. I have 16GB of RAM and an i7 laptop. 16GB is the optimum RAM ESRI recommend for ArcGIS Pro, so it shouldn't be taking 5 minutes. Once the legend did appear, I then removed all the rasters and other layers I didn't actually need. This software isn't cheap, so I expect a lot from it. Anyway I'm still interested in anyone found a work around for the offsetting issue. I don't believe it is possible to take ArcGIS Pro documents and put them back into ArcMap. I enjoyed using ArcGIS Pro for part of my current project because I could undertake joins across multiple storage locations. However if I can't produce a map at the end of it, then it's perhaps pointless.

Did you find a workaround? Does anyone know how you offset in ArcGIS Pro or is it simply something ESRI need customers to add as an idea to the Ideas site to gauge if they think it worth implementing?
