I bet there is a better way of working around the issue, but you could try adding a stacking separator such as "*" and making it not visible.

I noticed that we can set feature weights, but not label weights using Mapplex. This functionality appears to be available in the standard label engine, but not in Mapplex. Having the ability to set the label weight is useful so that we can allow labels from one layer overlap a feature, but not labels from another class. I would like to know is this feature missing in Maplex or is it set elsewhere? For example, consider the following: We have 3 layers, a substation point layer, an address point layer, and a road layer. The label for substation point may cover the road centerline. However, the label for the address points must never cover the road centerlines. In the standard label engine we can control if a label from a particular class may or may not cover a feature from another class by adjusting the label weight so that it is higher or lower than the feature class weight. For example, I can set the label in feature weights so that the substation labels can cover roads, but the address point labels cannot cover the roads. Substations: feature weight low, label weight high Address Points: feature weight low, label weight low Roads: feature weight Medium, label weight medium. In Mapplex we can set a feature weight to discourage labels from being placed over a feature. We can also set the feature weight to 1000 to stop any label from being placed over a label. However, I am not sure if there is a way to allow labels from one feature class cover a feature while labels from another class not be allowed to cover a feature. Please let me know if there is a way to set Mapplex up so that I can allow labels from the substations cover the roads, while at the same time making sure that labels from the address points not cover the road centerlines. Thanks

I would like to see non-federated portals more capable than the current setup. At this time we cannot justify federating our portal. When using a non federated portal I had noticed that there are some very important features that are missing: We cannot host vector tiles We cannot serve hosted feature layers. The local datahub will allow users to download data, but they cannot view the data in an interactive map. Why do I think these should be allowed We are already paying for big bucks for ArcGIS Enterprise. Keeping some of the data on our local server may make backups easier. ArcGIS Online understandably limits the amount of data that we can keep in the cloud. Using our own server we can host more data. We can separate the security between a traditional ArcGIS Server (one without portal installed at all) and ArcGIS Portal. That will allow our current applications to work without any changes. Note: I don't even care if a non federated portal has any secured services as long as users can access secured services through the traditional ArcGIS Server. A non federated portal is not much better for the public to access our data than using a non GIS content management system (such as Wordpress or Joomla). Why cant I justify federating portal at this time: Very small municipalities are allowed to access some of our data. Some of the municipalities only use the secured services a couple times a year. Therefore it is not worth paying for licenses. With a traditional ArcGIS Server we can have as many users as we want when using ArcGIS Server built in permissions. I don't want the complexity of federating Portal. It sounds like when we federate portal that there are a lot of things that change under the hood. Thanks

Bryan, Someone else might chime in with a better answer as I have not published much from ArcGIS Pro but I did notice a couple things. First, Your antialiassing is off on the new caches. I don't know if the setting for the cache is adjusted by the machine, or your computer, project or server. To adjust the settings in ArcPro open Project --> display-->antialiassing Mode. Make sure the settings are similar between the two computers. I do not know if you also need to configure this setting when you publish a service. Second, I noticed that the labels do not align well between the previously created tiles and the new ones. You may want to consider using a larger area when you update your cache... but I will defer to others that may have better ideas. Thanks

HI, The main reasons why I would like to see AGOL backup and restore functionality is so that I can: * Move items between AGOL and Portal as I so choose. * Allow me to modify hub sites and applications knowing that I can revert any changes if needed. * Reduce credit usage on items that might not be used again. However having a backup will help me restore any items if other staff have a different opinion about any content. * Not be dependent on remembering to turn on "prevent accidental deletion." This might be useful for other users that might not be aware of this feature. * Clean up the total amount of content. For this I suppose I could copy content to a backup folder. As you can see none of these items are "extremely" important, but I think a backup and restore feature would help some users be more willing to create complex maps, hub sites, and applications. Thank You

Hello, Is there a way to backup our AGOL content (maps, applications, data, hubsites) to a local drive and restore them at a later time? Currently the only way I know how to backup and restore data is by one of the following: Use delete protection. Use a 3rd party application which I cannot justify at this time. Manually backup items: Data can be downloaded and uploaded. If maps were originally created in ArcGIS Desktop then we can push them back up to AGOL. I do not know how to restore Hub sites. I do not know how to restore applications. Use ArcGIS portal. Please let me know if there is a better way to download backups to our local machine and restore them at a later time. Thank You

It would be useful to add a topology rule so that points must not be covered by lines. This rule could verify that address points are not covered by a road, which should be invalid because the address point must be on one or the other side of the road. In addition, it might be useful to also add a rule so that lines may not be inside multiple polygons. This could be useful to make sure a road that has a state name does not fall inside multiple states. *Note I am not sure if the rule "must be inside" applies to any polygon or just a single polygon. Thanks!

Yes, you can symbolize by multiple fields. I think 3 is the maximum*. To do this you will need to select your layer-->click on symbology-->symbolize by unique values. Under keep adding up to 3 fields. Tip: You may want to click on the label column to give each symbol class more readable title. Tip: Once you have the 9 symbol classes created you can select 3 classes at a time and change the properties for the selected features. This way you can change all of your utility type features to circles at the same time. You can also go back and adjust the colors for the selected features as well. Tip: You can also use an Arcade script to create feature classes, I do not know what the limit is, but creating feature classes this way might be more time consuming.

@ Scott Thank you for the update. Regarding number 3. I was caught off guard by needing to click on the purple topology point so it would turn into the green edit vertex which in turn could be dragged. Holding N down will be sufficient for me. P.S. Is there a way to disassociate a topology enabled point point from other existing points? In the example below I would like to move the endpoint of parcel A from the intersection of parcel B and C to the endpoint of parcel D. I cannot just move the vertex as doing so will move the edge of parcels B and C. I also cannot just turn topology off because my parcels have a topology that ensures that polygons are covered by lines. The only way I know I can do this now is to: 1) Disable topology. 2) Move the polygon vertex for polygon A. 3) Move the two lines that are associated with polygon A. 4) Re enable topology. I would like to know if there is a way to disassociate parcel A and the included lines so that I can move only the endpoint to point D without the need to disable and enable topology. Thanks!

I would almost go even further and consider pre-set up layer files that are attached to the Geodatabase as opposed to a separate file. That being said, there could be an issue if the layer had some issues with such as all of the colors being transparent.

Hello, It took me a long time to figure out how to correctly edit a topology in ArcGIS Pro. There are a few parts that made the experience more confusing that it should have been. First, It took me a while to find the official documentation located at https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/help/editing/introduction-to-editing-topology.htm Even then the documentation weighted editing edges instead of vertices. Second, When I did have a topology on I saw the modify edges tools, furthermore the tool as labeled "select and edge" I did not want to select an edge, I wanted to select a vertex. Third, When I opened "select an edge" I noticed that the vertices were in purple so I figured I had the correct tool! However, when I tried to move the purple vertex nothing happened which reinforced my confusion. I was not able to move the vertex in a topology until after I double clicked on the vertex. Thoughts: For the tools that can interact with a topology please consider the following changes (This example is for the Edit Vertices tool): 1) Change the option to select "Features or Edges" to "Feature or Topology." When not using topology this particular tool can only modify a single feature at a time so the heading should be singular. When editing a topology I personally thing the heading should be "Topology" not "Edge". This would clarify the functionality for myself and perhaps others, not to mention what happens if a user wants to edit stacked points that are in a topology as there are no edges. 2) Once the tool is opened with modify Edges (Topology) selected we are told to select an edge. The tool opens up and we can select an edge. However we can also select the vertices as well. Similar to previous I do not know if "Select and edge" is appropriate. Is there space to specify "Select and edge or vertex"? 3) When I hovered over a point I noticed it was highlighted. I tried moving it but nothing happened. It was not until later that I realized that I needed to double click on the highlighted purple point so that it would turn into a green box which could be moved around. Is it necessary to have an additional step to switch from the highlighted purple circle to the green box? 4) Maybe it would be useful to add an example of how to edit a shared vertex within the documentation? Thanks!

I would like to geographically limit the results of the ArcGIS World Geocoding Service which is used by default in the ArcGIS Pro Locate tool. This will help the locator service provide quicker results as it would not suggest any candidates outside of our area of interest.

In ArcMap the List by Selection Pane (or whatever it is called) in the table of contents allowed us to quickly clear a selection for a particular layer by clicking on "Click Layer to clear layer selection." In ArcGIS Pro it is much more cumbersome. We have to right click on each layer, navigate to Selection, then click on Clear Selection. This makes a task that use to take one click into a task that takes a right click and two additional clicks. In addition, the first drop down menu has 25 options which makes it difficult to find "Selection." Request 1: Bring back the button to clear layer selection so it is easier to find. Request 2: Projects may have enough layers such that it requires the use of the slider tool in the selection pane to see results. This makes the workflow more cumbersome! I enjoyed the ability to view selectable layers on top. Request 3: On the List by Selection add a button to "Only select from this layer" This button will clear the current selection of all the other layers, however on any new selection the other layers will still be selectable. These ideas will make it easier to work with selected layers for example if in one selection we select roads, and then the very next moment were selecting boundary polygons, then back to roads.... I dont want to have to change which layers are selectable each time. I would rather just hit clear selection.

I noticed that ArcGIS Pro Catalog does not reflect the correct file size for shapefiles. It appears that the catalog view reflects the size of the .shp file, but not the other files such as the .dbf file. I noticed this when I deleted many fields from a shapefile layer and the resulting file was still the same in the catalog view.

Hello, I have a couple thoughts regarding managing topology rules for ArcGIS Pro. First, Allow users to enable or disable individual topology rules. We can enable and disable individual feature layers as desired, but not individual topology errors. Second, Allow users to add comments to topology rules. This may help serve as a reminder as to why the topology rule had been included in the first place. Example: "Rule requested for soils project" Third, Allow users the ability to reorder topology rules.
