PYTHONHOME=C:\Python\ or C:\Python25\ If setting a PYTHONHOME environment variable, it will need to match the actual installed instance of Python you are attempting to use. For most, with Python as installed with ArcGIS 10.2 or 10.3 that would be C:\Python27\ArcGIS10.x (the x version installed). ArcGIS 9.3 used Python25, ArcGIS 10.0 and 10.1 used Python26. PYTHONPATH=C:\Python\Lib;C:\Python\DLLs;C:\Python\Lib\lib-tk;C:\Python\Lib\site-packages With a PYTHONHOME set, the PYTHONPATH environment variable could also be %PYTHONHOME%\Lib;%PYTHONHOME%DLLs;%PYTHONHOME%\Lib\lib-tk;%PYTHONHOME%\Lib\site-packages. That allows changing from one Python install to another--trivial--just change the PYTHONHOME. Windows is a strange beast in that the Python installation will place pythonxx.dll into the C:\Windows\System32 on a 32-bit OS--but on a 64-bit OS the 32-bit library goes into the C:\Windows\SysWOW64 folder, not the System32. And if you elect to install the Esri 64-bit background geoprocessing extension--an additional 64-bit Python is installed, then a 64-bit python27.dll will be installed to System32. The two DLLs have different date/time stamps and sizes, don't mix them.

Joe Flannery, I don't believe you can have two FlexNet services named the same on a server. And the ARCGIS FlexNet vendor component is hardcoded to be named ARCGIS. So two different versions can not routinely be run concurrently on the same FlexNet Publisher license manager, certainly not with the default flexnet port assignments. Additionally, since the vendor daemon name is fixed--the ArcGIS clients would poll them and link to the first port providing an ARCGIS response. So again two license pools would not peacefully coexist with defaults. However, it might be possible to bind sets of both a LMGRD and an ARCGIS daemon to specific ports, and then to force the clients to connect to their appropriate pool. I don't know for sure, it would have to be tested, and it would require a cumbersome level of tweaking port assignments for both Desktop clients and FlexNet license server. Suffice to say that Esri does not want to support this mixed mode of FlexNet Publisher (nor does any vendor I'm aware of), so from ArcGIS 10.0 forward, with implementation of FlexNet Trusted Storage--they provide an easy mechanism in the ArcGIS License Manager to deauthorize and return the prior permanent fulfillments from the "old" license servers. As well a means to add those authorizations via fulfillment exchanges back to the new license pool. Once returned, you should be able to self-help consolidate from the my.esri.com portal. But if the Esri accounts differ, you will need to work with your CS rep to get them properly returned, consolidated, and reauthorized. Stuart

The current answer is not natively. You will need either a BootCamp partition running a MS Windows instance, or a VM environment hosting a MS Windows guest OS. The SDKs for OS X and iOS are evolving. And the Python based ArcGIS Pro has a lot of additional product development in the works, so at some point an ArcGIS Pro instance for Darwin/OS X and other Linux/Unix is a possibility. Esri's decision to move in that direction will depend on what the market asks for. So for now, your only native options are OGR/GDAL and QGIS Stuart

Gabo Yarleque, The ArcGIS Online has role based configurations, if your organizational account is not assigned an Administrator role, you will not be able to see or manipulate the ArcGIS Pro related "Manage Licenses" tab. Identify whom in your organization *are* assigned "Administrator" roles, or whom is the "Primary" administrator/contact--they will be able to assign you an ArcGIS Pro license, or to assign your ArcGIS Online organizational account an Administrator role--depending on your company/institution policies. As Kelly notes, contact Esri customer service if you are not able to identify who fills the roles at your comapny/institution. Stuart

Well, as always it comes down to money. The count of processor cores, CPU clock speed, and memory bus will control things. Naturally, GPU will need to be a discrete PCI-e offering from nVidia or ATM--lots of choice there, but don't bother with multiple card setups (SLI or Crossfire). And you'll want to throw SSDs at it--m.2 or 2.5" SATA III. You'll definitely want an Intel 2011-3 socketed CPU, with quad channel DDR4 memory, and either X99 or C610/C612--but for my money the Haswell 5930K Core i7 Extreme w/X99 at $583 looks a to be better bet than the comparable Haswell E5 Xeon 1650 v3 w/C610/C612, also $583 for a single socketed Xeon build. The 2011-3 socket requires the X99/C610/C612 Platform Controller Chip (PCH) set. But, you will pay though the nose if you go to a dual socketed MB and a pair of Xeon E-5 26xx v3 CPUs. If you are building it in house, go with the X99 MB and a 5930K and an eight (8) count of RAM slots on MB, and invest the savings in memory and good 3D GPU card--ArcGIS Pro and City Engine will thrive on it. Desktop 10.3 will of course do fine. If you are buying a preconfigured system(s), then HPs Z800 or IBM P500 Thinkstation lines will have what you need, just be prepared for sticker shock. Solid offerings from SuperMicro.com are likely more palatable. Stuart

Carolyn Mitchell, * Yes, Esri's ArcGIS Online is Section 508 compliant. Here in the U.S. we currently have to comply with Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973, as amended which defines, electronic and information technology (EIT) and established the Architectural and Transportation Barriers Compliance Board (Access Board)--under Section 502 of the Rehabilitation Act (29 U.S.C. 792). The "Access Board" establishes standards set forth a definition of EIT and the technical and functional performance criteria necessary for accessibility for EIT. The standards are codified at 36 CFR part 1194 This is changing, and for the past couple of years the U.S. Access-Board ( http://www.access-board.gov/508.htm ) is replacing its Accessibility requirements. It has now published a second advanced draft of "Information Communications Technology (ICT) Standards & Guidelines". Accessibility for "documents" is now to be drawn from the WCAG 2.0 guidelines. Here is a link to the new draft regulation--http://www.access-board.gov/attachments/article/1702/ict-proposed-rule.pdf you'll find it is similar to provisions of the European Standard EN 301 549 in implementation of WCAG 2.0. In the EU--the European Commision (EC) Mandate M 376 Draft European Standard (EN) 301 549 follows modified WCAG 2.0 guidelines for "documents". The current draft EN is found at this link: http://www.mandate376.eu/doc/EN301549v008.zip For now, software developers and vendors seeking to use U.S. Federal procurement channels prepare a Voluntary Product Accessibility Template (VPAT) form, and independently report their compliance with 36 CFR 1194.21 -- Software Application and Operating Systems -- derived from WCAG 1.0 (1999) Esri like most Software vendors prepares VPAT (Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates) to comply with provisions of U.S. Code. The VPAT for ArcGIS Online is here: http://www.esri.com//~/media/Files/Pdfs/legal/section508/vpats/arcgis-online-3_6.pdf or for ArcGIS for Desktop is here: http://www.esri.com//~/media/Files/Pdfs/legal/section508/vpats/arcgis-for-desktop-and-extensions-10_3.pdf VPAT for other products are at this Esri hosted website: Legal Information | Voluntary Product Accessibility Templates (VPATs) | Software You can email specific questions regards Esri's compliance with U.S., EU and other similar regulations to Section508@esri.com Stuart Message was edited by: V Stuart Foote, adjusted the link to the access boards proposed rule

Eric Gardecki, * First stop for any user of GeoNet really should be the Community Structure table: GeoNet Community Structure And you are correct that no product specific "place" for ArcGIS for Desktop was established by name. Meaning that it all goes into the GIS place, Alternatively, it may start off in personal spaces and then is moved during moderation, or at community request. Point is it is all there in the GIS space. And, the entire scope of community content (new and archived) can be efficiently queried--rather than prior UI that had deeply segregated arrangements by topic, but very week query support. Meaning that it is really not overly difficult for users--even casual users-- to filter down to the content of interest. The Jive v7 based GeoNet does that filtering extremely well--and it is improved with some attentive moderation, and user tagging of content. The greatest issues with GeoNet has been lack of content tagging, and a reluctance of users to exercise the search and filter functions expecting instead a familiar handling by subject. The Jive v7 implementation is now a hybrid of old and new, It will never be perfect or satisfy everyone, but it can be improved if folks stay engaged. For example, and because there are holes in the topical spaces that have thus far been established in the Community Structure, I've recommended "...establishment of a new Installation & Configuration sub-space to GIS And possibly three additional sub-spaces under that: Desktop GIS (to hold issues for Licensing, Deskto, ArcPro, CityEngine, Reader,...) Server GIS (to hold issues for installing and configuring Server, Portal,...) Mobile GIS (to hold issues for installing and configuring/connecting Explorer, Collector, ArcPad, ...) Believe this clear categorization is overdue and is needed to direct users to a space where their questions can be asked, or they can review existing content." Waiting for some movement on that, but the idea is that if it makes sense to the Community to further remove some of the flatness to GeoNet it can still be done. As to an ArcGIS for Desktop "place" --by process of removal of content you already pretty much have it in the GIS place. Stuart

Tony Hartrich ONLY if you install the optional 64-bit background geoprocessing extension: 10.2.2 -- ArcGIS_BackgroundGP_for_Desktop_1022_140426.exe 10.3 -- ArcGIS_BackgroundGP_for_Desktop_103_141996.exe If the 64-bit background geoprocessing extension is installed, then you must install the 64-bit .msi of ArcHydroTools. But again that extension is optional -- and most folks will have no issue with 32-bit geoprocessing.
