James, That is what I thought. So as long as it remains as "hidden" in my survey, or non-relevant, it will never be able to be calculated or store data for that particular question. I guess I will have to come up with a workaround. Thanks, Steven

All, I have noticed that if my select_one is set as Hidden (not displaying in my survey due to a relevancy) then it can NOT be pre-populate by a PULLDATA calculation. If I set the type to Note instead of select_one then it can be pre-populated by a PULLDATA Calculation. Is there anyway I can prepopulate a select_one question that has a relevancy making it not appear in my survey? Please see the row highlighted in yellow Thanks Steven James Tedrick@survey123Survey123 for ArcGISIs it possible to use select_one and pulldata() together? survey123calculations

Hi Phil, I am currently experiencing a similar issue to what Taylor outlined above. When I complete a survey through the web browser, not all of my calculations occur like they do when completing the same survey using the Survey123 app on my mobile device/computer. I am utilizing two external spreadsheets for my calculations and as you can see in the image below, my Risk Assessment score do NOT populate like it does on the mobile/desktop version of Survey123: Web Version Mobile/Desktop What I find interesting is that the Web Version is able to calculate some values though as you can see in the image below where the Risk Score for question 4 populates. Thanks, Steven James Tedrick, Philip Wilson #webapp survey123 #survey123web #survey123calculations #survey123

James, One more question to help me take this home. In order to add up all of my values from the various questions into one total number, do all my rows where I do a pulldata calculation need to be set to integer? Right now when I calculate all of the rows they just put them together (i.e. 5+1 is 51 not 6). Thanks

James, You are good my friend! I had it saved as an excel file and not a CSV. Once I saved it as a CSV it worked like a charm. I will let you know if I get my survey to work how I want it to now that I have the pulldata function working! Thanks again for your help!

James, I followed your advice and have been attempting to use the pulldata function to achieve my desired result however I am having an issue where the risk value isn't populating in my survey under my note question. I created an external xls form (moved it to my media folder) called "Risk" where I have the following: Then in my main xls form I have the following pushdata function: My choices tab has the following (matching the name column to the external name column): Is there something I am missing? Thanks!

James, Thanks for responding. I should have clarified in my original post that I had already read through the threads for the https://community.esri.com/groups/survey123/blog/2015/08/24/using-formulas-in-survey123 post, specifically the one from Thierry Gregorius which outlines the approach you described. My issue with this approach is that in the back-end I would like the question field to be populated with the actual text from the Name field and not a numeric value like 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Example: Q1: What is your favorite animal? Q2: What is your favorite color? Q3: What is your favorite shape? I would like to keep the name field as a text (on the left) and not have to use a numerical value (on the right) just to do the calculation at the end. Is there another approach I can do that would allow me to do this? Thanks!

Hi, I am wondering if there is a way to assign a numerical value to a text answer. Here is an example of what I am trying to do: A survey is designed for inspectors to fill out. As they answer questions like, "What is the distance to the nearest fire extinguisher?" 1: 10 ft. 2: 50 ft. 3: 100 ft. I would like to assign a numerical value to those answers so 1 point for 10 ft., 5 points for 50 ft., and 10 points for 100 ft. At the end, I would like to be able to tally up the results of my survey with a total score for every answer to a question and be able to assign a risk value that the inspector can both see and submit in the form. Is this possible? Survey123 for ArcGIS THANKS!

Is there a way to do this without using the name field? What if I need the name to populate the result in the backend? Can another field be added that can hold a value for an answer and then be able to add it up at the end? Thanks

I was looking for some help on using the incident detector to only send an email on the first occurrence something has happened. Currently we have data being sent into GeoEvent with different statuses (Idle vs. working) every five seconds. I am using an incident detector to open an condition when the device sending the data is in a specific boundary and is in a "Working" status. The problem I have that is as long as the device is sending the "Working" status it gets passed through the opening condition and onto the email output. This will repeat every five seconds until the meets the closing condition of status not equal to "Working". I am looking for some help on how to control geoevent from continually sending emails multiple times and only send an email the first time the condition (status = Working) is met. Jason

Never mind. I figured it out. I needed to go back to ArcGIS Online where the Generated Reports are stored and share those files with my group. Once I did that the other members were able to login in and generate a report for a specific record.

Hi James Tedrick, Can anyone utilize the Generate Report functionality from the Survey123 website to generate a report or can only the owner/creator of the survey? I created the survey (using Survey123 connect) under the Esri username User01 and shared it out to a group. My group members are able to login to the Survey123 website to view the survey and click on the data tab (I already enabled the group with permission to view the data). However, there is no option available for them to generate a report. Thanks #survey123 custom report

MBramer-esristaff - We are having the same issue on 10.5.1 server. I can receive data over TCP port and pass it to a GeoDB table completely fine. I then have an input that is polling from that table with incremental updates every 10 seconds but it takes almost 5 minutes to grab the data and post. All the while my master GeoEvent Service model that is using the polled data never shows an increase on the inputs even though I did see the polling work. During this time I see a state suspended and state reconnected in the logs as well as the other issue that is displayed in the first post. I have to imagine that this connection loss is causing the issues. Side note, we have a similar set up on GeoEvent 10.4.1 and the issues don't seem to be happening there. Jason
