Hi Patricia, It would be nice if it was all together but the scanner you found seems like a good option. Have you checked out the options listed in the original posting Do more with Collector using barcode scanners | ArcGIS Blog ? I haven't done a ton of research on the external scanners but I'd be interested in your pros/cons. I like the option of having the SDK. Best, Brandon

Just so I'm clear you're still talking about something external to the Ipad and not the Ipad's built in camera? I'd still be interested in the model you're using an a little explanation as to the workflow in the field for using it as a HID.

Hi Xander, Thanks for the quick response and no worries on the missed line. Your fix worked but now it seems we're stuck on the token issue you mentioned briefly above. I found the API reference for getting a token but it hasn't worked for me yet. Thanks for all your help. Once I have it working I'll post back here in case anyone is interested. Best, Brandon

Hi Xander, Finally got around to trying the process and I'm getting a traceback error that 'json' is not defined which I think is related to this line from your example. # assuming this query URL jsonResult = json.load(response) Is json part of another module or is it a variable I didn't define correctly? HI Thomas, I stumbled on your question while looking for another answer. Have you been able to make your code work? My initial observation is that you're running arcpy.Statistics_analysis for each row in your SearchCursor which if I'm reading right means about 14,000 times. Is that your intention? Best, Brandon

Hi Xander, Sorry for the slow response. I'm new to using JSON inside of python; can you give me an idea of how I would use the delete command inside of a python script? Or another resource to consult? I'm also curious how I would list out the object id's inside of the feature service. Is there something similar to a search cursor that I could use? Is it possible to script the removal of points from a hosted feature service? I have a hosted feature service that supports a geoform that we're using to collect customer information. Once the customer submits the geoform I have a process that downloads a replica and moves the data to our ArcGIS Server. Once that's done I'd like to clean out the feature service so that each person is presented with a "clean" map. Is this possible? I'd also be open to other methods to accomplish this "clean" look. It looks like I am able to publish services from data that contain definition queries. Is there any performance loss doing it this way rather than a separate exported feature class? You could also expand it to me wondering what the pros/cons are for publishing services with definition queries. Thanks, Brandon

Hi Jake, The content was shared with everyone (public) so it makes sense to me why Cosmo Jr would have been able to see it. But when I share with the organization the content is no longer visible to anyone. I haven't checked on the sharing with any groups. Does sharing with the organization only make the content discover-able via search and not just in the list of items in the group? -Brandon

We're trying to track down some interesting behavior in our ArcGIS online organization. The first is related to content shared with the featured apps group. I recently added a new user, Cosmo Jr‌, to our organization without adding him into any groups. Our featured apps group is visible on the home page of the organization and I told him that content wouldn't work for him until I added him into some groups. But clicking the content loaded everything up just fine. Is this the expected behavior of the featured apps group? My concern would be apps accidentally being shared with the feature apps group and it overriding group based security. Similarly I'm wondering about the expected behavior of "sharing with the organization". I have some anecdotal evidence from another of our organizational account users that doing that cause the content to not be visible to anyone except the user who shares it.

Trying to get some traction on this discussion/question. Think we may have a solution by adding some additional numbered sections but aren't sure how to accomplish this. For instance there are three sections to the geoform now but if we added a fourth or fifth it might help users submitting the form. Thoughts, ideas, wild notions?
