Hi Isobel, Can you please clarify the behavior? What do you mean by "explode feature just removes the whole mulitpart feature"? Thanks, Scott

Hi Tyler, I'm sorry to hear you're seeing an issue with Merge. Do List By Editing or Editing Status give any clues (messages or warnings)? Specify which layers can be edited—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop Get started editing—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop What is the source of the data? (examples: File Geodatabase on a local drive, FGDB on a network location, Enterprise Geodatabase, ArcGIS Online hosted feature service, etc.) Perhaps Esri Technical Support can assist with narrowing down the performance issue with you? Hi Yue, Thanks for reporting the issue. There are a few ways to perform split, ex. Interactive, By Feature, with a selection, without a selection, etc. There are also a number of ways the splitting feature can be created, for example, it can be snapped exactly to the edges of the target, or it can slightly overlap features that are adjacent to the target. What I'm getting at... In the case of very specific issues, it's best to report these issues to Esri Technical Support (Esri Support Contact Support) so they can look at the steps and data. If the issue can be reproduced with general steps with any data, feel free to post that info here and I will take a look and report it to the appropriate team. Let me know what you find out. Thank you! Scott

Hi Pete, Just a thought: perhaps you can turn off the toolbar in Editing options, and only use the construction context menu by right-clicking on the map to bring it up wherever you right-click while constructing features. This mini toolbar contains the same construction tools. See A quick tour of editing—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop -Scott

Until the ability to create geodetic features (with out of the box editing tool) is added to Pro, you may want to try the suggestion below from Joshua to use Buffer (geodesic). FYI - You can buffer points. Also Dan below makes a really important point about choosing the proper projection

Hi Daniel, This add-in is probably the best bet for creating geodetic features: Distance and Direction | ArcGIS Solutions for Defense The ability to create geodetic features using editing tools has not been implemented yet. Regarding the measure tool defaults: I think if your map is in a geographic coordinate system, like WGS 1984, the measure tool should default to geodesic. -Scott

The proper development team is now aware of the issue and is currently investigating. For bug tracking purposes, please contact Esri Technical Support - Esri Support Contact Support For now, it seems specific to offline feature services. Should I learn anything new, I'll post an update here. -Scott

Hi Joe, Thanks for the status update. What's odd about what you said... The Select tool on the Map ribbon and the Select tool on the Edit ribbon should behave the same way. I tested deleting a feature that was selected using the Select tool on the Map ribbon, but couldn't reproduce the original issue you reported - so there must me more to it, right? -Scott

Hi Vish, Check out this post: Saving Editing Template to use in other Projects This comment is the important part: https://community.esri.com/message/821672-re-saving-editing-template-to-use-in-other-projects?commentID=821672#comment-8… In summary, a layer file or map file will bring along feature templates. For group templates, as long as all of the layers that were used to create the group template are saved in a layer file or map file, it should work. This means if you want use a layer file, you should first create a Group Layer that contains all of those layers that make up the group template, and save the layer file from it. Reference: Save a layer file—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop Save a map file—ArcGIS Pro | ArcGIS Desktop Does this help? -Scott

Hi Joe, Could it be similar to this defect reported by Esri Technical Support? [BUG-000124614 Attempting to delete a record from an unversioned feature class while versioned features are in the map returns the error message, "Delete Selected Features failed. This data is currently locked by another user and cannot be saved."] They have the following workarounds listed: Register the problematic feature class as versioned. Remove all versioned features from the map in order to edit unversioned features. Feel free to contact them for tracking the defect, or so they can investigate if there is something else going on here. Esri Support Contact Support Thanks, Scott

Hi Donna, I can't reproduce this issue. I can split line features that are part of a feature dataset with no issue. Is this feature class specific, feature dataset specific, geodatabase specific? How to find out: If you create a new line feature class in the same feature dataset and create a new line and attempt to split it, do you get the same error? What happens if you create a new feature dataset and copy the original line feature class to it? What happens if you create a new line feature class in the new feature dataset? What happens if you create a new geodatabase and do the same? Once you narrow down the issue, perhaps a call to Esri Technical Support is in order? Esri Support Contact Support Let me know. Thanks! -Scott

Hi Sean, What does the label expression for the COGO lines look like? There is a SETTINGS section of the expression and this is the line you may want to check: var QuadrantBearingFormat = true; //set 'true' for quadrant bearing, 'false' for north azimuth Select the COGO-enabled line layer in the Contents pane > A labeling tab appears on the Ribbon, click it > For the "Direction and Distance" label class, click on the Expression button. Once you click the Expression button, you will see the expression being used: Hope this helps! Scott

Thanks for that additional info, Jason. If you can reproduce again, let me know - ideally, please provide a screenshot that includes the Split tool and the geometry you are splitting (like your first screenshot). -Scott

Hi Jason, Is this a polygon or a line? - I'm assuming it's a polygon. Are there any relationship classes on the data? What is the source of the data (some examples: File Geodatabase, ArcGIS Online hosted feature service, etc.) What error are you getting (if any)? Can you please confirm if "Allow splitting without a selection" is checked or unchecked (bottom of Split tool)? How many features are selected? Can you provide a screenshot of the Split tool when it fails - this will probably answer the last 3 questions? Thanks for any clarification! -Scott

Hi Pete, Does this crash occur when you have the attribute table open for the layer you uncheck as editible in List By Editing? If so, is it still reproducible if you close the attribute table first, and do the same steps? Thanks, Scott
