Hi, I wanted to provide an update that ArcGIS Pro 3.5, which will be released tentatively in another month or two will support Google Photorealistic 3D Tiles in local and global scenes. The blog below announces this as well. https://www.esri.com/arcgis-blog/products/arcgis/announcements/high-quality-photorealistic-3d-tiles-in-arcgis/ thanks, Andrew

Hi, The data type listed as supported for this tool is layer file or feature layer. Because you are trying to pass a feature class the tool throws the validation error message. You need to add the Make feature layer tool as an intermediate step to ensure a feature layer is being passed to the Create 3D Object tool. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/tool-errors-and-warnings/001001-010000/tool-errors-and-warnings-03376-03400-003379.htm#:~:text=003379%3A%20Feature%20layer%20or%20layer,%E2%80%94ArcGIS%20Pro%20%7C%20Documentation https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/data-management/create-3d-object-scene-layer-package.htm thanks, Andrew

Hi Dominic, I ran the script on my 11.4 server and it succeeded. You are running it from this location, correct? C:\Program Files\ArcGIS\Server\framework\runtime\ArcGIS\bin\Python\Scripts\proenv.bat You also tested with other datasets, correct? If it's not any of those issues then there's something else going to which I would direct you to one of our Enterprise Support Analysts so i'd recommend creating a case at support.esri.com to get more specialized assistance. thanks, Andrew

Hi, The layer created from a Revit file is a building layer and is already represented as a multipatch so you don't need to use the Layer 3D To Feature Class tool. You can pass that directly into the Create Building Scene Layer Content tool to create the slpk to publish as a web scene layer to ArcGIS Online. thanks, Andrew

Hi, How long does it take to create the slpk using the Create Building Scene Layer Content tool in ArcGIS Pro? I would expect similar run time between Pro and Server. Also, can you reproduce this hang with any dataset? We haven't seen this hang running the tool in our server environment so hoping to narrow the cause down some more as to a dataset issue, environment issue or something else. thanks, Andrew

@berttemme Unfortunately not yet. They had some other higher priority items come up so for the time being this is only supported in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Maps SDK clients. thanks, Andrew

Hi, Thanks for your patience as I was out of the office for the holidays. After looking into it further I can confirm that this bug was fixed in 11.3. This error message was being reported as an error instead of a warning. Now, the question is why is it even being reported? The Create Building Scene Layer Content tool creates the scene layer based on the Z values. If you add a layer to a scene and set the elevation mode to anything other than Absolute Z this warning alerts you that the output may look different then how you had it setup initially. Now when the layer gets created in this case (without a 3D scene) it looks like for some of the category layers the elevation is not being written which then triggers our tool to return this message. The tool is checking for the presence of "featureElevationExpression": "Shape.Z". I need to check with the BIM team to find out why this is not being written to the layer in all cases and also see if there's a workaround in 11.2 for you. I'll follow up once I have some more information. thanks, Andrew

Hi,
There is no geoprocessing tool that will create footprints from a scene layer package. There is a fullExtent property in the slpk that clients read to set initial extents. You can see this documented in the specification here https://github.com/Esri/i3s-spec/blob/master/docs/1.9/3DSceneLayer.cmn.md
The only other option I can think of is to use a Catalog layer as there is a footprint layer available as part of that. https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/3.3/help/mapping/layer-properties/catalog-layers.htm
thanks,
Andrew

Hi,
In the Symbology pane you can get a count for each unique value and then manually calculate that based on the voxel size. At the ArcGIS Pro 3.4 release we added this information to the layer properties. In the source tab there is a section for voxel information and a row for voxel size.
thanks,
Andrew
