Thank you for the response RJ, To be completely clear: This is the one and only time that this specific issue has ever happened to me. The restart that I refer to IS the GEP Windows service. Before I restarted the GEP Windows service, every time I pressed the Validate button, it would NOT get vaildated. Also, ALL of the output connector setups in manager would display empty fields. BUT still, with no restart, the outputs were actually WORKING. If I saved a output connector setup while seeing these faults, the output connector would fail. (should be obvious, but I just wanated to document that I tried it.) After I restarted the GEP Windows service, everything returned to normal. I would think that manual verification would have not been needed, just because all of my feature services were being updated when I was seeing these problems. Is it possible that GEP is functioning correctly, but reporting the incorrect information to the Manager? BUT, since you mention: I think we may be dealing with a Server connection which is intermittently unavailable. In another recent Forum post of mine, I am almost convinced that may be the issue to this completely separate issue. Read it and tell me what you think. All of the ArcGIS Server services are set to recycle at midnight by default (pic follows):

Has anyone had any luck with the "Locations" entry in the Twitter, Receive Tweets input setup? I have had the Twitter input working. Every time I place a set of bounding coordinates in that box (even the ones given in the example), the server will talk with Twitter servers for a few seconds and then stops. I then cannot just delete that set of coordinates because the next time I start the input, it fails the same way. I either have to copy the last input and rename it, or start from scratch with a new Twitter Input. Any thoughts? --Adam

Is anyone having any problems with Registered ArcGIS Servers? I was troubleshooting another issue when I saw this occur. Within 30 minutes, my logs filled with an error repeated 23 times within the same second - every 2 or three minutes. When the error was occuring, I would go to the Data Stores page on the GEP Manager site and see that ArcGIS Server was not validated. My Feature Service Outputs were still working, but when I opened the edit window on any of them, the page did not display any Service Name or Layer. The drop-downs were empty. After restart, everything concerning that issue appears to be fine. Should I be submitting bug tickets with this and the other issues that I am posting here about? Thanks, --Adam Here is one entry in the log that I think is attached to this issue: com.esri.ges.manager.stream.internal.OutboundTransportProxy Failed to set Transport (com.esri.ges.transport.outbound/FeatureService/10.2.0) properties: com.esri.ges.core.validation.ValidationException: com.esri.ges.transport.featureService.FeatureServiceOutboundTransport properties validation failed: Mandatory property 'datastore' is not set. I have a GEP service that uses a few Field Enrichers. Those Field enrichers consistently "turn off" after midnight local time. I see the results in my CSV output. That output is set to roll over daily to a new file. Before midnight, the Message Definition field in the CSV output file is showing the message def name of the last field enricher, and I am getting all fields. After midnight, and the creation of a new daily CSV, the Message Definition field is now showing the name of the original message def and the file does not contain the data from the file enrichers. I took a few shots of the process.... The Service: The input is a simple "Receive text from a TCP socket." The next step is a field calculator. Since my feed's time data is not properly ISO 8601 tagged as UTC (Z), I must convert it to local time so that GEP can properly process it: The first Field Enricher is simply adding additional (semi-static) attributes from a CSV file: The second Field Enricher is converting a coded value to a human-understood name. These do change often over the life of the track: Looking at the Service picture, after the Field Enrichers - from top to bottom: A specific vehicle's track (filter for one specific IP) is being captured and dumped into a CSV file and rolled over daily (AVL-GoldExp-CSV). The enriched feed with no filters is dumped into a CSV file and rolled over daily (out_EnrichSRND_csv) The enriched feed with no filters is dumped into an "Update a Feature" output with max feature age of 1 min. When a vehicle passes within 200m of one of our radio system's tower sites: It is tagged with the name of the tower with a GeoTagger: (sorry, I ran out of pictures that I could add) ...and dumped into an "Update a Feature" output, with max feature age of 10 min. (AVL-SiteProx100-FS-out) ...and dumped into a CSV file that is rolled over daily. (AVL_SiteProx_file-out)
Please forgive the naming conventions. A lot of the elements are remaining from the initial attempt at getting this all working - two versions of the Beta ago. I am wondering if the CSV file rollover has anything to do with the problems. Anyone have any ideas or similar experiences? Thanks, --Adam

I am finding that the "Update a Feature" output settings, specifically "Update Interval (milliseconds)" is not in milliseconds. It is seconds. Can ANYONE else confirm this for me? I am running Build# 10.2.0.1154 Thanks, --Adam

Portal for ArcGIS has a similar licensing model to ArcGIS Online, which is based on named users. Hope this helps, Thanks for the try! Looking for what that licensing model is. Do we have to buy ArcGIS Online "named user" seats to begin to use Portal? Are the "named user" seats one in the same from Online to Portal? ANY further information on this would be much appreciated. I can't find any solid documentation that says anything other than "Portal" uses "named users". Nothing about what named users are, where you get them - in relation to Portal....

**The Portal for ArcGIS extension software is included with ArcGIS for Server Advanced (Enterprise or Workgroup) and is licensed and priced based on the number of named users. Specifically with Portal for ArcGIS deployed locally, what does the statement, "is licensed and priced based on the number of named users" mean? Thank you, --Adam

One more note for my discovery above: If you DO NOT save bookmarks with the exact same browser window size and side-pane closed, when a bookmark is used in OD multi-display view - the extent/zoom ratio will now be changed. I am sorry if this is not easy to follow. It is hard to describe. I believe that the problem lies in the fact that the cached basemap is stored in a raster format (jpg, etc.) and the OD in multi-display mode is out of sync with each zoom level in the cached service at the raster's native resolution. That is, unless you find the sweet-spot when you create your ArcGIS Online map. Like looking at all of your 18 megapixel home pictures, but in a window that is 200x300 pixels. --Adam

Yes. I have multiple users who experience the login problem that you are experiencing. I specifically encountered two of the dreaded "blue screen of death" shutdowns in Win7, Pro, x64 when running the Operations Dashboard yesterday. I have had program crashes before, but never a blue screen until yesterday. I wonder if something was updated. It would be nice to know, especially when I ramp up to a few hundred users. At least a day warning would be nice.... --Adam
