Adam- Thanks for reporting this. We'll take a look. -Doug The problem is still with us in the multi-display device setup. Basemap labeling is almost completely useless in all readily available basemaps in the Operations Dashboard. The only way to read most labeling is to zoom in and read before the screen is refreshed. Any answers? Thanks, --Adam EDIT -- After some more investigation and an inadvertent change made before a save in ArcGIS Online, I discovered that we are working on a complex relationship of map extent, zoom level and size of viewing area - proportionally to the map widget that I am viewing the saved map from in Operations Dashboard. To recreate, construct a map in ArcGIS Online. Make the browser window the same size as your screen. (mine is 1920x1080) Open the "Details" button to make the contents side-pane display. Set the extent of your basemap and then save. Make a new multi-display operational view with that saved map. Note the labeling and readability. Save and then close the Operations View. Next, go back to ArcGIS Online, collapse the side-pane and re-center the map. Do not change zoom level! Save. Re-open the Operations view that was created above. Note the labeling and readability. I would have made screenshots, but I don't have enough time at the moment. -_Adam

Carl, I am also attempting to use GEP and Operations Dashboard to display live AVL data and want rotational symbology. I have searched the 10.1 help files for Feature Services, and find no mention if rotation is supported or not supported. Here is where I am looking: http://resources.arcgis.com/en/help/main/10.1/index.html#//0154000003nt000000 That same page does say, "Proportional symbols, as well as unique value renderers based on multiple fields, are not supported by feature services." I saw a GeoEvent Processor demo video from the UC on Monday that showed dB levels as airplanes entered into an airport area. The levels were shown with proportional symbols and labeling with the dB value. As the level increased, the symbol size increased and changed color. Either Feature Services at 10.2 now support labeling and proportional symbols, or the GEP team made a symbol for each and every dB value in the data that they had! If there is new support at 10.2, maybe rotation is included? I guess we will find out soon? --Adam

Is there any tool that will directly create a 3 dimensional line from one X,Y,Z point, North azimuth, angle off of the horizon and length? I am trying to quickly assess the visibility of a satellite from one location in relation to DEMs and buildings. Thanks, -_Adam

There was an announcement today about the updates to the Operations Dashboard with a link to download. I thought that this application was going to be updated automatically as updates were made available. Is this now not the case? If it IS going to updated automatically, could someone post the current version number so that we can check that the update is applied? Right now, I have 10.1.1.142

Hi, this might be a basic question but why Operations Dashboard only Feature Service layer? Can't it send queries to map service layers and get the results to build the charts? To use feature service layer means everything must in SDE and can't use table views or query layers which in many case are much useful. Agreed - It is much more complicated to set this up For example, I found that the only way to serve a layer with unique attribute driven symbology is to create a domain for it. No labeling... ...but does add the ability to edit. So, in order to do anything that the Operations Dashboard does so well, you must use the very restrictive Feature Service. If you want labels on the map, you have to use the map service, but you can't query or use any other widgets.... Positives and negatives. You find the balance, I guess.

Just an idea for the development team: It would be incredibly useful to assign multiple actions to a click or double click, such as Select & Zoom. Thanks, --Adam

I have to say, I must have something gravely wrong with my settings because I am SURE that someone else would have brought up this problem as soon as the Operations Dashboard was launched. So, I am going to ask, and probably need a slap to the back of the head when I get the answer.... Why are the basemaps illegible through the Operations Dashboard? It seems like the zoom levels do not match the cached basemaps extent. It is almost like looking the wrong way through a pair of weak binoculars. When you zoom, everything is like expected until you get your new tiles. Many times, it makes a standard "streets" type basemap useless because you cannot read the road names, etc... Picture below... Maybe because I'm not the author of it, I don't have those controls. Here's what I see when I click on settings for the map window: Chris, You need to use the map widget's settings, not the map tool configuration. When in "Edit Operation View", it is the little gear symbol at the top far right of the map frame. I will post a picture of it, circled. Matt, I get the same crash that you do when hitting the OK button after enabling the data source. --Adam

Hi Matt, I ran your test Dashboard. It seems that a data source is missing.... If you can fix that, I can try again. --Adam

Can anyone tell me if the Collector can still collect events when the device is not connected to a network, and push them when it gets back into network coverage? I cannot find any documentation on this. Thanks, --Adam

I am attempting to use the OD to show results of studies for individual counties. I need to be able to select one county and have the map show other layers' polygons and points, obviously linked by common attribute. I cannot display information for other counties at the same time because both polygon and point layer spill over into other counties. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, --Adam

I just updated to Data Interoperability 10.1 SP1 and also applied the Background GP for Desktop. Now I cannot run Data Interop Quick Imports in the background. Every time it throws two ERROR 001143: Background server threw an exception. Anyone else having this problem? Thanks, --Adam

Anthony, Thank you, that takes care of that issue. However, I'm experiencing the same problem with hyperlinking to a UNC file path. I see the exact same behavior that I was seeing with the url, but now I'm trying to hyperlink to a file via UNC path. For example: file path attribute = \\myserver\fileshare\filename.tif Results after clicking on hyperlink give me that file path appended to the end of the app url. the config hyperlink looks like this: <a href="{FILEPATH}">Image Link</a> Again, this worked in previous versions of the viewer/api, but not in 3.0. Any ideas? Thanks again for the solution with the URL. Kelly Kelly, With your example: file path attribute = \\myserver\fileshare\filename.tif, the following code worked in only the Application Builder 3.0: <a href="file:{FILEPATH}" target='_blank'>Image Link</a>
That opens another browser window with the image. I am still trying to figure this out in the PopUp.xml files in the stand-alone Flex Viewer. The one difference between the two is that the Application Builder does not use the <=!=[=C=D=A=T=A=[ ... ]=]=> wrapper.... EDIT: I just found out that the above code works in IE7 but not in IE8. There are lots of posts about this issue with IE8 out there on the web but no answers that have worked yet for me!
